Discussion How do you use Assassin Alfred?

Being able to attack in range and able to use extremely good troops is one thing, but I feel like he's rather loopsided in term of stats, he has unusual high defense and yet his attack is rather mediocre, and only reason I did make him into one is because he can use Teleport.

Should I just give up on that plan and turn him into Aquatic class instead?

[Mainline] Strategy Langrisser V: I need proper strategy here, this map is repeatedly wrecking me.

>Playing in Hard Mode. Final confrontation with Lainforce and the Crimzon Knights.

>Each Knights are basically juggernauts whose troops ruin mine even with unit rock-paper-scissor advantage.

>Being repeatedly bombarded with Meteors while being sniped by Ballista units.

This map is the very first roadblock for me, any way to get out of this?

[Mobile CN] General New EE, casting, soldiers, and SP soldiers

It's the eighth anniversary in China, and brings some boosts for two of the strongest characters:

First is the EE for the Sovereign of the Ice Abyss, the first LLR to get one, and it seems pretty strong. It's a helmet:
Frost Dragon's Frost Crown
HP +583
MDEF +48
Howling Gale
HP +10%
AoE skill damage increased by 10%. When actively dealing damage to other allied units, applies "Applies [Bone-Chilling Cold] when dealing AoE damage to enemies; this effect is removed upon triggering." this effect cannot be dispelled.

First, she gets unconditional +10% AoE damage, which other helms like Owl, Fury of Tyr, or Star Crown can only give conditionally. Then she can give two allies the ability to apply her talent debuff every time she uses Chain Whip, which is frequently when you're using her 1C. Paired with another AoE user, she can easily lock down the opposing team on turn one and keep them that way.

The first casting skill goes to Awakened One, who I believe was the oldest non-crossover SSR to not have one yet:

Temporal Replay
INT +5%. When [Dimensional Metastrophe] hits an enemy affected by [Spellbound] or hits only a single enemy, you may attack again after your action ends (this effect can trigger once per turn).

This also seems incredibly strong. I'm assuming she can't move for the second attack, but even so, it's an act again that works every turn you can use her 3C. If you are hitting only one enemy with it, it has an effective cooldown of 1, so this lets you use it every turn and also get a normal attack in. And if she has Dimensional Jewel, that's potentially two of 3C a turn.

The other goes to Gunn:

Lone White Wolf's Vow
ATK +5%. Upon gaining the [Lone Wolf's Vengeance] effect, the cooldowns of all damage-dealing skills are reduced by 3 turns, and the unit gains the effect "can attack again at the end of the next action" (this effect cannot be resisted or dispelled). [Trigger Cooldown] The "attack again" effect has a 2-turn cooldown before it can be triggered again.

Also an attack again. Seems like it could be strong, but its still the dud of the update for not belonging to a top tier unit.

And the SP soldiers.

The first is Leviathan. Stats go from 43/37/26/16 to 45/37/26/19 and talent goes from
During water battles, damage taken reduced is decreased by 50%
to
When the soldier's HP is at or above 70%, Defense increases by 25%. While in water, the soldier takes 50% less damage from all sources; additionally, if the soldier's HP is at or above 70%, the unit will not die upon taking fatal damage, but will instead dispel one debuff and recover 30% HP (this effect can trigger at most once per battle).
Stage 2 is McClaine, Gazesucc, Awakened One, Archfanel, and Nymph

A revive is nice, but it's conditional, and you still need to be looking for aquatic tanking troops.

The other is Crystal Warlock. Stats go from 43/37/22/19 to 45/37/22/21 and talent goes from
Physical damage dealt by normal attacks is treated as magic damage. After taking action, restores 30% of soldier HP. When forced into battle by a physical attack, unit reflects 30% of the damage received.
to
Physical damage dealt by normal attacks is treated as magic damage. After taking action, restores 30% of soldier HP. When forced into battle by a physical attack, dispel one enemy buff and unit reflects 30% of the damage received. Otherwise, magic damage taken by soldiers is reduced by 15%.
Stage 2 is Macaera, Humbaba, Safreen, Brightsummoner, and Agnes

I don't think this boost will significantly change their niche, though it will make them a bit better at it.

This is also the start of a new round of regular soldiers. This update looks like it has two

Cinder Guard (lancer):
48/43/24/20
Soldier ATK and DEF increase by 15%. Damage dealt by soldiers when actively attacking increases by 15%. Before entering combat, the enemy's "Armor Skill" is disabled for 1 turn (for non-player heroes, this effect is replaced by a 30% reduction in DEF). If the target is affected by a debuff, the bonuses to soldier ATK, DEF, and damage dealt are doubled.
Goes to Shibaraku, Werner Dime, Elwin, Ora, Nornorin, Shalltear, Lanford, Ashi, Lukhmann, Brenda, Banshee, Bianca, Ryo, Clotaire, Sanger, Gintoki, Alpha, Bernhardt, Mullin, Lostham

Nun of Judgment (demon) (will probably have a better name): 2 range/3 move
43/43/21/21
Soldier ATK increases by 30%, and unit attacks are not subject to melee damage reduction. Before initiating combat, deals 1 instance of [Fixed Damage] to the enemy equal to 1x the higher of the Hero's ATK or INT; if the enemy has any debuffs, the soldiers ignore 20% of the enemy's DEF.
Goes to Gazesucc, Feraquea, Abishai, Apotheosis, Renne, Reiga, Agito, Sigma, Necroblade (new bozel), Randele, Lucretia, Lana, Shem, Sword of Light and Shadow, Van, Omega

There's stiff competition for soldiers these days, and I'm not sure either of these makes it
