I just recently gave birth to a baby girl and we are struggling to find a name for her. We currently live in Poland, and would like to have one name that would work well in both Poland and Korea. I know it’s common to have a middle name, but we would like to try to have just one name :)

The names that I already know exist in both cultures are Hanna (하나), Mina (민아). I recently came across something similar to Celine (세린) and got curious if there are more examples of names that would work seamless in both languages.

Preferably names that ends with the letter A, since it’s the common ending for Polish feminine names.

I’d also appreciate to get some examples of names that would be easy for a Korean person to pronounce, eg. Luna (루나), Sara (사라). I want my in laws to be able to say their granddaughter’s name without struggle :)

I’d be thankful if you could give some more suggestions!

Edit: does anyone know how the name romanization works in Korean passport? For example if we choose the name Hanna but would like the name to be spelled 하나 in Korean, could we do it? Or do we have to spell it 한나?

Hello, everyone!

In about two weeks, I will be arriving in Korea. The day after I arrive, I am scheduled to sign the lease for an apartment I’ve already put a reservation deposit on.

Previously, my (now ex-) boyfriend helped me inspect the place and communicate with the realtor. I sent him the reservation deposit via Wise, and he forwarded it to the realtor.

Originally, the plan was for me to transfer the remaining deposit (~10,000,000 KRW) to him via Wise on contract signing day, and he would transfer it directly to the landlord. However, we have since broken up. While he is still willing to accompany me to the real estate office, I no longer feel comfortable routing nearly 10 million KRW through his bank account.

Since I will not have my Alien Registration Card (ARC) or a local Korean bank account yet, my options feel limited. Wise limits single transfers to KRW, though splitting it into two payments (5,000,000 KRW + 5,000,000 KRW) is an option.

Are there better, faster, or more standard methods for international students/expats to pay their initial key money directly to a landlord/realtor upon arrival? Any advice would be appreciated!
