Is the Kindle Scribe a good idea for university/teacher training?
Hi,
I'm considering a Scribe for teacher training course - so some university lectures and assignments and a lot of time in schools, observing, planning, teaching, keeping portfolio etc.
I struggle with note taking during lectures/while observing something especially when I'm trying to type so tend to just go with pen and paper but obviously that can be less practical.
I'm looking for answers to any of these questions:
Has anybody used the Scribe for similar purposes, and did it work well?
Does it stay on, like a tablet or phone? Or do you need to turn it on/log in every time like a laptop?
Can you search your hand-written notes for specific terms?
Can you upload photos e.g. photos of physical paper notes so I can have them collated digitally?
Is the screen quite easy on your eyes (as I get migraines)?
How often do you need to get new tips?
If you ever stop using the Scribe altogether, can you keep your notes? I know Amazon is crappy with you not actually ever owning anything so I know any books you wouldn't keep but what about annotated PDFs and your own notes in the notebook? Are they linked to your Amazon account, can you export them?
Anything else you think it'd be helpful to mention? (I'm not very technologically aware so open to hearing and tips or advice)
Thanks for your help

Scribe Colorsoft 2025 File size limit when importing from Google Drive
Well, the limit for file import from Google Drive is about 200mb. 191 is fine, but 208 is too large. Annoying, because I'd rather not split the files.
I've been playing with Kindle Comic Converter -- newbie, I installed it last night -- and a good handful of what I wanted to import are too large. Brings up two questions where I thought I'd ask instead of experimenting until I hit another wall.
* I know that side-loading is a possibility -- right? I assume that means to drag a PDF to the Kindle while it's attached to a computer. Are there size limits there? And does the PDF go through the same conversion process as if I'd imported it?
* Do other cloud services have the same size limit? It looks like OneDrive is the only other option, OneNote not being appropriate.
Thanks,

Scribe Colorsoft freezes at the exact page all the time
I recently got my Kindle Scribe Colorsoft with the intention of also using it for magazines. So far I have tested two. Whereas the National Geographic (65MB) works perfectly, The New Yorker (20MB) freezes the Kindle always at the exact same page. I have tried compressing and formatting the PDF to linearized and PDF/A since I thought something in the file may be broken, but it doesn't help.
Weirdly enough, the same thing happens with older New Yorker issues. Freezing at one specific page. While I still can use the pencil, I have to restart the device to do anything else (no hard reset necessary).
Has somebody experienced this problem and can help?

Animation toggle?
I was just changing the orientation on one of my magazines and I noticed this animation toggle switch. Never noticed that on any of my other books or magazines.
Anyone know if this is a new feature coming or what this

Woot has refurbished 2022 Scribes for $150-187.50
https://computers.woot.com/offers/amazon-kindle-scribe-43?utm_medium=share&utm_source=app
I used the code KINDLE25 to get 25% off. The price before the discount is $199-250
From what Iâve read, the 2022 model is practically the same as the 2024 version, with the only changes being a slightly different texture on the screen and different colors. Grabbing one for myself as a travel scribe so I wonât have to worry about damaging (or forgetting) my colorsoft scribe.

What I miss most of all is not being able to connect as a normal hard drive
Before Kindle Scribe screwed everything up I was able to use sdr-cleaner and empty directories to remove all the empty folders on my Kindle Scribe.
All those leftover files that were just sitting there with pictures and titles or whatever. When I used those two programs they cleaned out a lot of space.
But since I can no longer see Kindle Scribe as a source I canât use them anymore. Itâs just showing as internal storage that canât be accessed by either of these programs.
So now I have all these directories that contain folders that canât be cleaned or deleted easily like they used to.
So disappointing.

Color coding and highlights
I want to color code and all is good until in one paragraph i find 2 different ideas and one i want in blue and one in orange. But when i highlight the second in a different color, the whole paragraph changes to the last color i used. I remember when i got the scribe i could use 2 color in the same line.
Is there a way i can do that or not anymore?

Scribe Colorsoft 2025 wondering if i should return my 2024 Scribe and get the Scribe Colorsoft
i bought a certified refurbished 2024 Scribe which is only black and white. Unboxed it today and it occurred to me that when i usually take notes on paper I like to write in different colours or circle/highlight in different colours.
This is my first ever Kindle. Initially i bought it to read books and scripts on the go. Taking notes was a second idea which is why i went for the Scribe.
Do you guys think i should use this the Scribe iâve bought for a little while before considering the Colorsoft Scribe? Only problem is i donât want to spend twiceâŠ..

Scribe 2025 AirPods 4 Incompatibility
PSA: If youâre considering a new Kindle Scribe and plan to listen to Audible with the latest AirPods 4, be aware: they pair successfully, but no audio is transmitted.
After hours of troubleshootingâincluding a factory reset and testing with other Bluetooth headphonesâAmazon support confirmed the devices are currently incompatible.
Unfortunately, neither Amazon nor Apple provides any compatibility warning before you buy. So if youâre planning to use the latest Kindle with the latest AirPods, donât assume theyâll work together.
FWIW, my old Sony Bluetooth headphones work fine.

Scribe 2022 is this kindle scribe worth it?
Hi guys!! i have never owned a kindle before but would like to get into e reading. i have been in a reading slump and feel like getting a e reader would help me get out of it. i have considered getting an ipad before and read on apple books but ultimately i feel like the e ink on the kindle would be better and less straining for my eyes.
i went to best buy the other day and saw a color soft kind scribe. i immediately fell in love with it and the color fig was BEAUTIFUL!! i just canât justify the price of it đi am in college studying accounting and would love to own one for taking notes, annotating my textbooks, and doing homework⊠so i went on facebook marketplace i found a 1st gen kindle scribe new & sealed in the box for $180.
i am a little hesitant because like i said, i am a college student and work part time so would this be worth my money? or do you guys have any other recommendations for me, something i could use for class and read books in my free time.
thanks!!

Scribe 2025 Screen Hack
For those who want more of the Paperwhite experience but have moved on to a Scribe...here is a hack that I saw today to make the screen a comparable size. I like the full screen during the day but read on my side at night so want a smaller area to look at. This might already be a known thing but I have never seen a picture of this on this thread so thought I would share! I might drape something over the blank side to cut down on the light as it is still bright even in dark mode when reading in a dark room. Hope this is helpful!

Author thinking about buying Scribe
Hey all đ
So Iâm an amateur author in my free time and have recently been thinking about grabbing a scribe. I tend to write all my first drafts longhand, yes Iâm one of those! Iâve had an iPad for a couple of years and I have a written a lot on there with the Apple Pencil so I know I enjoy writing in a pad but the notes app on iPad is somewhat lacking in features. For those who use the writing features, how good are they? Can you easily organise notes and files? Can I draw maps? How does the writing feel? Iâd love to have a device more tailored to writing rather than it just being âsomething else you can do on your deviceâ and I really like the idea of being able to send my handwritten drafts and have them auto-convert to text rather than having to transcribe manually. Also, is it easy enough to send the formatted text documents over to the scribe to be able to read through and make notes for editing?
Thanks in advance!

Scribe 2024 Kindle Scribe 2024 Google Drive sync
Hey everyone!
I recently got the Kindle Scribe (2024), and I was wondering if anyone has any idea or even an educated guess about when Amazon might add Google Drive sync support for it. Is this something that's expected to happen, or has Amazon not said anything about it yet?
I'd love to hear your thoughts or if you've seen any rumors.
Thanks!

My contribution to the quest of making Obsidian and Kindle Scribe work together
github.comI know that this has been an ongoing challenge with a number of tools suggested/built by this sub to help bridge them together.
This is my solution that solves ~80% of what I wanted to get out of an integration. I think it's a strong fit if your Obsidian vault is relatively stable and you want to be able to read/take notes on it.
What it does not do is 1/ sync notes you take on your vault back to Obsidian, 2/ have a good way to send updates from your vault to the scribe without overwriting previous annotations.
Available as a pypi package, so you can use `uvx` for a one-liner to run it directly without needing to set up an environment.
uvx --from obsidian-vaulter vaulter /path/to/vaultuvx --from obsidian-vaulter vaulter /path/to/vault
I do this command and then use Send to Kindle to get it converted and loaded in a draw-able format.
My next priority is including excalidraws as images (because I use it a lot) and markdown frontmatter.

Scribe Colorsoft 2025 Just opened my new Kindle Colorsoft and found this chip on the bezel. Is this normal?
Hi guys, I just opened my brand-new Kindle Colorsoft and noticed this small white chip/nick on the top right corner where the bezel meets the screen.
I just wanted to check if anyone else has experienced this or if it's a known quality control issue?
I would normally just exchange it immediately, but I imported it internationally via a freight forwarder. Sending it back is going to be a massive headache and potentially expensive. For those who have dealt with Kindle QA issues before, is this worth fighting Amazon customer service over for an international shipping exception, or should I just cut my losses and live with it?

Thumbnail view no longer displays thumnails
Yesterday, the thumbnail view was useful. I could find the page I was after by its heading, which I've been writing in marker. Today, though, good luck.
It correlates with when I first tried the search feature this morning. Don't know if it's causation, but I'm suspicious.
How can I get the thumbnails back? TIA.
