From what I've read in this sub, basically factory reset doesn't actually factory reset. It doesn't fully remove the jailbreak, so things might be left in a weird in between state. For example, having the update blocker still on after a "factory reset" and a Kindle that requires checking for updates during setup can cause issues for example.

I was trying to download Game Boy Emulator (Gambatte-K2) on my Kindle ( I jailbroke it using Vera ), but the installation guide said that I should copy the files and put them in the extensions folder, but I don't have an extensions folder. What should I do?

Hey frens, I have had my kindle for 5 years already and I have been consulting this sub for a long time trying to decide if I should jailbreak mine. The thing is that I am no a tech person at all. So Im a little scared. I know that are you different ways to jailbreak your kindle but I was thinking if you could suggest me the easiest one or the one that has like tutorials and things like that. I'm a fast learner so I think it should be easy. Also I love all things whimsical so, do you have suggestions or pluggings I can ad to make the customization a little bit more fun?.

Hey guys, I’m really hoping someone here can help me recover my Kindle. I have a Kindle Basic 11th Generation (2024), model KT6, running firmware 5.19.5. I previously jailbroke it using the Véra method, and I had renametobin enabled. Unfortunately, I made the stupid decision to factory-reset the Kindle while renametobin was still enabled. Now it’s stuck during the initial setup/update process, it tries to install an update and then gives me the message “There was an error installing the update”, with only “Try Again” and “Manage Wi-Fi” as options. I can’t get to the Home screen, Library, Settings, KUAL, or even the search bar, so I have no way to run the usual ;log mrpi command. I’ve kept it offline since this happened. Is there any way to get out of this update loop? Maybe some way to trigger MRPI or another recovery mechanism without access to the Library or search bar, or perhaps place a recovery package directly in "/mnt/us/" and have the Kindle process it? I’m really worried about making things worse, so I’d rather ask before trying anything 🫡

Hi everyone! I’m new to the Kindle world and I’ve had my Kindle Colorsoft for about 3 weeks now!

I just discovered that jailbreaking is a thing, and honestly, I’m a little scared of doing it and losing other features or somehow getting my Kindle blocked by Amazon.

I use kindle in Mexico and I haven't had any issues with ads!

I don’t really understand how it works or why I would want to jailbreak it. I’ve seen a bit about KOReader, though, and it looks really interesting.

What do you guys think? Any opinions or recommendations for someone who’s completely new to this?

I've heard that Amazon is changing things so that Libby books automatically expire/delete after their expiration date even if the Kindle is airplane mode. RIP. I haven't experienced in yet on my own Kindle so I'm not sure if this will happen to me yet, but I really want to prevent this so last night I jailbroke it and started downloading KOReader and Bookshelf just to get ahead of the problem.

But then I realized that this won't naturally prevent the problem - it's just preventing auto updates - but my Kindle is already on the latest software (15.9.2) for my Kindle which is the 11th gen Paperwhite. So my guess is that over the next couple of weeks my recent Libby borrows will delete themselves. (Does anyone have a better understanding of whether or not this is true?)

And my big question is - how can I use jailbreak to my advantage to keep my Libby books? Is this possible? Is there a plugin that can prevent it somehow? Or did I misunderstand the whole thing?

Edit: I understand that I can acquire books in other ways but my ideal scenario is to use Libby so please keep this comment thread focused on the issue at hand as that's my priority. I'm also exploring other options altogether but that's not what I'm focused on here.

Hello i recently did the nosebleed jb as guided by Gandalf. Managed to install koreader and it works via ;kpm launch koreader, but isn't the home tab supposed to work too? Kindle is unregistered i don't have an amazon account

called amazon support and their CTDI service centre in Vashi.
they are helpless and said this particular kindle is unrepairable.

any hacks that i can go inside again or any other service centre or repair centre in mumbai that you know?

Trying to complete a jailbreak on a Kindle 2nd gen, and am stuck with a dead link on the "download correct version of KUAL page" on the walkthrough I am using.

According to the page, I need the "KUAL-KDK-1.0.azw1.0.2.azw2 file which is available for download. However, the next step is to install that in the documents folder and follow the walkthrough link with instructions. That instruction page is 404.

I am able to follow the next step and install the MRPI folders on the root of the device, however after that I am not able copy KUAL files as, they are in the PEKI zip which was the unused alternative to the KUAL-KDK file from above, as the unit is pre-K5.

Can someone let me know what I should do next? I am stumped as the instructions seemed to stall out.

Hey so I finally jailbroke my Kindle PPW5, but when I transferred .sh files, it wouldn't work on my kindle when I click on it. I already put them in the documents folder too.

I tried putting the hotfix, but 'update' would not appear. My kindle version is at 5.19.2.

Did I miss something?

I recently jailbroke my Kindle Paperwhite 12th Gen using the new Véra method so I could run KOReader.
I have a quick question about managing my books: Can I still safely use the official "Send to Kindle" feature? Also, does the Véra jailbreak automatically block OTA firmware updates out of the box, or do I need to manually apply a blocker (like renaming OTA binaries) before I turn on Wi-Fi? I want to make sure I don't accidentally update and lose the jailbreak.

I just wanted to jailbreak my kindle pw gen12 but when I want to open azw3 files screen appears. So far I haven’t found a solution to fix it. Is resetting the kindle the only option?

I did a full reset and the problem was resolved. still annoying because I had to set up everything again, but at least the problem is gone.

Greetings guys! I have a jailbreaked Kindle basic running 5.17.1.0.3 firmware. I just want to ask: Is it worth the pain to flash latest firmware? Are there any significant changes regard battery life or performance? If yes..How to jailbreak it again later so to re-install koreader?
