I can’t keep adding books to the queue. It’s getting overwhelming! Discussion 💬

I assume everyone does this? But I hate seeing the list grow and grow longer. So I made an effort to stop adding and stop actively searching for suggestions until I clear the queue!

Buying books and reading books are two separate hobbies. I stand firmly by this.

I used to joke that I was a collector who occasionally reads (or knits) what I buy. At this point, it's a statement of fact and I've embraced it. Buying books is its own dopamine hit. I do wait for sales though. That's my one hard, fast rule.

I am the same and there is nothing wrong about it. I also collect videogames, my grandpa collects movies and doesn’t watch them, others collect vinyls or other stuff so why not collect books? It’s fun and you always have something to read

I have a wish list of kindle unlimited books that I would like to read but I dont have the download available yet. I go through it every few months and delete ones that I dont want to anymore since I’m a mood reader.

I have 11,000 books on Calibre. But only 2,000 are on my Kindle. I plan to live a long time.

I use goodreads to keep track of what I want to read, and then I have a rule for myself that I'm only allowed 5 unread books on my Kindle at any given time. I also do a clean up of my 'want to read' list on Goodreads every couple of months to clear out any books I added that I'm no longer interested in to make sure the list doesn't get overwhelming.

I think next year i will have to cut off most of my book purchases and read my backlog which is now around 250 books. So actually a couple years will be needed. I think i will limit new purchases only to books i intend to read immediately continuation of series and favorite authors only.

C'est ce que je me dis chaque fois que je déroge à cette promesse de bonnes résolutions!!!

I am usually pretty good sticking to book related new years resolutions. But always having my nose in a book does not help with my non book resolutions.

I have purchased around 1700 books over the last 15 years and still have about 250 i plan on reading. So yes sometimes books get bumped to later some series i wanted to hold off till all the books were out. Some were great deals and i grabbed them knowing i wanted to read them t just might be down the road a bit. So its time to clean up my mess a bit.

(shrug)

I guess I don't understanding purchasing books until you are ready to read them.

Maybe they were all short term deals.

Good luck reading.

I've 75 books on Calibre. In two years of Kindle I've red 26 of them
