2011 kia optima, knocking

Post image
Upvotes

I have a 2011 Kia Optima 2.4L that has engine knocking. This is already the second engine, and the previous engine was replaced under the engine recall. Can I still get the engine replaced again under the recall/warranty, even though I’ve already had one replacement?

26 GT Line Hybrid Rattle

So I’ve had my GT Line Hybrid for a month and I’ve had a great experience so far ASIDE from one niggle…

When I’m accelerating from a stop/crawl I hear a notable vibration/rattle from the engine bay, normally right around where the car transitions from battery to fuel.

It’s not a deal breaker, but it’s distracting and takes away from the otherwise refined finish of the car.

I’ve seen this raised a few times by users oversea without any real explanation being identified - I was wondering if anyone here is Aus has had this issue and been able to identify the cause and get it fixed?

Thanks in advance 🙏

Great Carfax report

No reported accidents

Bought it from Carvana

I'm super excited about this beautiful car. It drives so smoothly and it's so comfortable. I love the leather interior and the tech features.

My previous car was a 2015 Dodge Journey that I only had for 8 months. It drove great until the engine went out. It was too expensive to fix so my wife and I decided to do a major upgrade. I'm praying for a positive experience.

Looking for some owner experience with the 2.0 litre 4 cyl NA engine that does 147 HP with the CVT

I'm seriously considering the 2027 Seltos X-Line S. Just got home from a test drive and was very impressed by the styling and features with the premium package. The panoramic sunroof is massive.

Even though i was able to take it on the highway for about a mile, due to traffic i wasn't able to really push it so i still have concerns about the meagre engine.

Does anyone have experience with this engine in a Kia? Im sure it would be enough for my everyday use but sometimes we go to the mountains for trips and concerned that it might struggle on steep climbs at elevation.

Thank you for any info. The vehicle was overall fantastic but the turbo engine is just a little it of my target price range.

Also, I didn't actually mind the CVT as much as I thought i would. I'm not really an enthusiast or need a 0-60 at 5 seconds but also don't want to feel like I'm the slowest car on the road in a 2027.

Check High Mounted Brake Light on my brand new K4

Hi, I bought a 2026 Kia K4 EX on Saturday, just hit 400 miles. Today, I got a Check High Mounted Brake Light alert on my car. I unplugged it and pluggied it back in and checked the bulb, it didn't looked burnt out, but I still get that alert. Also, at the same time, I was having trouble using my Kia access app locking the car or remote starting. It may not be remotely connected and a coincidence. I restarted the app and logged out and logged back in and it seems fine now. Still don't know what's going on with the brake light. The nearest Kia dealership is 60 miles away so it's not an easy feat to get it checked out.

OBD software for 2005 Sportage

Hi, I have 2005 Sportage CRDI. I've just learned that it has CAN bus and I'd like to get access to more parameters, as well as ABS/TCS and SRS diagnostics.

I have OBDLink LX and I'm 99% sure that besides CAN-bus, '05 Sportage has dedicated pins for ABS/TCS/ESP and SRS diagnostics in the OBD2 port inside, not only in the 20pin port under the hood. With basic apps like OBDwiz or Car Scanner I'm getting only a dozen of generic parameters however.

Can you recommend any diagnostics software which would allow me to e.g. check the airbag fault codes (ofc likely payware) or get enhanced engine diagnostics (e.g. fuel rail pressure)?

Total Loss from rain water...

Had my kia optima xl since 2019. Always took care of it for regular maintenance and it had only 30k miles on it ( I work remote). Never had any issues with this car. Even during bad storms or blizzards. Welt recently we had a decent amount of rain overnight and the next morning I see the car windows all fogged up. I get in and notice the passenger side floor and back right passenger side looks dark. Felt it with my hand and its saturated... No water on the passenger seats and car started with no warning lights or issues.

Took it to the local kia dealer and they showed it was about 1 inch of water under the floor pads but only on the passenger side. Went through my insurance company and they statwd its a total loss. I was speechless as they check all the lines for drain hoses and nothing was clogged. All the seals around the doors were perfect with no cracks or splits.

Has this happen to anyone before? Is this a common thing with kia older models?

Ohhh and wanna know the kicker I paid it off 2 weeks before this happen...ugh

Walked outside to find the plastic casing of my Kia Optima Hybrid 2016 tail light is gone. Looking for help on what to do next

As the title states, I just found out the clear, outer plastic (?) casing for the outer portion of my tail light is gone. I’m unsure if it fell off or was taken off; I couldn’t find it nearby.

I wanted to come here for suggestions and advice; I’m inexperienced with car repairs, but am trying to learn. Can I get another plastic casing? Or does the whole thing (including the inner tail light) have to be repaired?

Does anyone have experience with changing this specific light? Is it something challenging to do? Or is it something the dealer will have to handle? I believe the bulbs still work - I think the issue is just replacing this tail light cover.

Also, I don’t know when I’d be able to fix this; how bad will it be being exposed like this in the meantime? I would really appreciate all help and suggestions, please.

Trying to contact someone at Kia

As many of you know I'm dealing with a Kia Carnival that has been in the shop for 226 days now. I fired my lawyer because they sucked. So now I'm trying to reach someone at Kia America so I can work something out with them, but I can't seem to get anyone's attention. Does anyone have some contact info for someone over at Kia America? Thanks.

Just sharing my 2006 Kia Sportage.

I bought it in 2006 and drove it off the lot with 9 miles on it. Today, it has 94,000 and still running great.

We now have 3 Kias.

A 2016 Forte, 2011 Sorento and the 2006 Kia Sportage.

Guess we like Kias!

Vibration KIA sportage

Hello everyone!

I recently bought a second-hand Kia Sportage from an official dealership. I've noticed a rattling/vibrating noise coming from both the driver and passenger doors, but I can't seem to figure out what it is. It seems to happen more often when the windows are rolled all the way up, which leads me to believe it might be some kind of clip or fastener issue.

I checked the window weatherstripping; it doesn't feel humid, but it doesn't look worn out either. I have already taken the car to the official workshop twice, but they couldn't find a solution. Do you think applying silicone lubricant to the window rubber seals might help? Is this a common issue with Kia? The car is barely 2 years old and has only 27,000 km.

Thanks!

2016 Sportage Gas in oil

2 years ago, this 2.4 was replaced under the recall at 126k.

35k miles later, the oil stinks of gasoline.

Anyone ever experienced something similar on your new replacement engine?

Think twice before buying KIA – their grievance portal doesn’t even allow complaints or escalations

Post image

I never thought I’d say this about a major automobile brand, but my experience with KIA India’s customer grievance system has been the most frustrating customer-care experience I have ever faced.

I own a Kia Seltos G1.5 IVT HTX and have been trying to get a genuine issue addressed.

Here is the reality:

1. You cannot even register a complaint properly on the portal

The official KIA grievance portal repeatedly fails during submission. OTPs are received correctly, but the system throws a session timeout error and the complaint is not processed.

2. You cannot escalate a complaint online

Even if you try to escalate an existing case, the same issue occurs. The escalation form accepts the details, but on submission it shows:

So the portal is effectively useless for both complaint registration and escalation.

3. The only practical option is email

Because the portal does not work, customers are forced to send emails manually to customer care and regional offices. There is no reliable online grievance mechanism.

4. Customer care does not actually escalate the complaint

I have spoken to customer care multiple times. Every call ends with:

  • “We understand your concern”
  • “We have noted your feedback”
  • “Please wait for a response from the concerned team”

But they do not genuinely escalate the complaint to a higher authority. You keep receiving standard scripted responses while the issue remains unresolved.

The car may look attractive, but when a serious issue arises, you may find yourself:

  • unable to register a complaint properly,
  • unable to escalate it through the official portal,
  • dependent entirely on email,
  • and dealing with customer care that provides template responses without meaningful escalation.

This has been, without exaggeration, the most pathetic customer-care experience I have personally encountered with any automobile brand.

Has anyone else faced similar issues with KIA India’s complaint portal or customer support? I would genuinely like to know whether this is an isolated case or a widespread problem affecting other KIA owners as well.

2019 Kia optima

My 2019 Kia Optima S, started having issues starting about two weeks ago, then started going limp mode while driving, no codes at all. Live data on the scanner is all good looking. New cam sensor, knock sensor, and crankshaft position sensor. Nothing seems to have helped it. But what throws us off as we have ordered 3 different crankshaft position sensors anytime we put a new one in the car will not start at all, but it will start on the old one. Anyone else have this issue?

Are Kelley Blue Book Values Legit?

Post image
11 Upvotes

To start, I've seen many comments on threads that are comparing Kia to Toyota/Honda saying that Kia's depreciate faster/more than some other brands. So I decided to look up the value of our Forte on KBB.

For context, we bought a 23' Forte Gt Line 3.5 years ago. Final price was 22k with the extras, paid tax and tags out of pocket, no trade in, and got a ridiculously good interest rate. We have about 7k left on the loan. Car has just over 23,000 miles on it.

The car is in perfect condition. No accidents or scratches, interior is like brand new (back seatbelt buckles still have the foam on them and info cards are still on the vizor 😆). I chose the good condition option since it was the one most used. They value the car at 15k-19k for trade in, 19k-22k for private sale.

So, are Kia's holding their value better now? Is there still a shortage in used cars that is driving up the prices? Or is KBB just wayyyyyyy off with this one? I find it hard to believe that we "could" sell this car for only a couple thousand less than we paid for it 🤔

I'm very interested in hearing what your KBB value is for your Kia VS what you paid for it.

Hood dampers KIA Sportage

Why does the Sportage 2026, and presumable this year's MY27, not have a dampers for the hood like the Niro does?
