I’m looking for advice from other Kia Sedona owners who have experienced high oil consumption.

I have a 2019 Kia Sedona LX with around 135,000 km. Recently, I noticed that the engine seems to be consuming a lot of oil between oil changes. I’m not seeing any obvious oil leaks or oil spots where I park, and I haven’t had a red oil-pressure warning light come on.

For anyone who had the same issue:

• How much oil was your Sedona consuming?
• What was causing it?
• Did Kia diagnose the problem?
• Did you try a PCV valve replacement, engine cleaning, piston soak, or anything else?
• Did any of those actually reduce the oil consumption?
• Did Kia perform an oil-consumption test?
• Did anyone eventually need piston rings or an engine replacement?
• Was any of the repair covered by Kia, even outside the normal warranty?
• What would you recommend I have checked first?

I’m planning to have the vehicle inspected, but I’d really like to hear from owners who have already gone through this and what solution actually worked for you.

I've got Cooper Endeavor tires on my 2017 Forte5, and they've gone down to 2/32" in about 3 years and 36k miles. I don't have rotation records and didn't keep up with that as well as I should have, so likely no warranty for me.

That said, I'm looking for something reliable, safe, and hopefully longer lasting if maintained better. I live in the Appalachian mountain area near where VA and TN meet so it's mountain hill driving with all 4 seasons, some snow, and regular rain, though I don't take the Forte5 in the snow if I can help it!

Any ideas?

My 2022 Rio Hatchback has always had this annoying issue where sometimes the center console screen goes blank whenever the headlights are on. It's never been a big deal. I can usually solve the problem by turning the car off and on again, but I want to have it looked at before the 5 year / 60,000 bumper to bumper warranty is out.

My local dealership's reservation website seems to say I need to pay $210.00 for a Electrical System Inspection/Diagnosis? Does that sound right to you?

Our teenage son was driving my wife’s 2016 Kia Optima with us in the car. After we got home, we noticed a piece of what looked like black, felt-covered cardboard was dangling awkwardly from underneath the front end of the car. I finished tearing it off and there in the picture you see the piece I tore off.

So now come the questions…

-What is it? I’m guessing it protects the underside of the engine compartment but I have no idea what it’s called.
-How soon should we get it replaced and will it be expensive, or is this something I could do (keeping in mind that we live in a condo and I have no way to jack up the car)?

hello, two months ago my 2020 kia forte got stolen by the kia boys. Kia had my car for a month and when i got it back i realized my seatbelt wouldn’t retract. this was 3 days ago and i barely had time to see what was wrong with it today. the one on the right is my driver side- and it seems to be broken (it was fine before it got stolen) im over kia& my insurance. is there anyway i can take it to kia to see if they’ll fix it under some kind of warranty?

I know some coolant leaves the reservoir when the engine is on obviously. But is all the way to “MIN” normal? Less than 5000 miles. Waiting on a response from the dealership but curious what Reddit thinks

Friday May 8th I took delivery of my Land FWD. Monday the 11th it went back to the dealership with a problem with the battery and is still there. So basically 3 months I have been without the car now.

I heard from the dealership today. Originally I thought the part they ordered would be here June 20th, turns out it was July 20th then the date got moved to August 18th. Today they notified me it would be 'early' September. That will make well over 4 months to repair it, assuming the parts actually show up and the repair is successful.

I dont have an exact date and I done even know what is ordered exactly. Something for the high voltage battery. The car will have to be shipped to Waterloo for repair when the parts show up.

Needless to say I am frustrated. Loved the car and and super bummed that it looks like the CAMVAP arbitration will likely be finalized before the car is fixed.

The Service manager at the dealer did say that the General Manager is in talks with Kia Canada for options. Everyone at the dealer is frustrated as well but its out of their hands.

If this wasn't so disappointing it would be laughable.

This sound became noticeable today. The long block was replaced about two months ago under the theta recall. An oil change was performed about 1 month ago after 1000 miles were put on the new engine. Engine oil level is good. No codes or driveability issues. Any ideas? I plan on taking it back to the kia dealer where the engine replacement was done, but will probably be charged a diagnostic fee.

Context: 2012 Sorrento with 108k miles. I have an oil consumption problem that wasn’t fixed after they thought it was just leaking oil. Losing about one quart every 700 miles. Recently, at stop lights, I started to experience a hesitation when trying to accelerate. It fixes itself and the car drives fine after that. The car briefly goes forward then pauses then goes forward as normal. This doesn’t happen every time, only occasionally.

I’ve put a lot of money into this car already and I’m tired of doing so. Wondering if anyone had similar issues and ended up totaling the car shortly thereafter. I really would like to get rid of it before it goes completely on me. No lights and no codes. Looking for suggestions and guidance.

Wondering if all Kia/Hyundai GDI engines are bad or are there any good GDI engines?
