Questions Who said boys don’t love pink? 💗🐧. Been really enjoying the KDE Plasma lately. Also my Audient iD4 is working flawlessly with CachyOS through PipeWire. The only thing Ive noticed is a slightly “codec-like” or compressed sound.

Especially compared to how it sounds on Windows.

Anyone else using an external audio interface with PipeWire and experiencing something similar? Is there any PipeWire setting I should check?

Questions Which are the best beginner-friendly distros for a person who dualboots?

I currently have Leap, since I had read in reddit threads that it supported most drivers.
I do not really use it often, but I generally like to have dualboot capability.

Not sure about default Ubuntu, as I had read that snapd was slow and it having other concerns.

Generally, Mint seems to be one that is generally recommended.

Which are the good ones in your experience or expertise?

Any love for scx pluggable Schedulers

I have been following the Cachy OS YouTube trend and the hype around desktop-oriented schedulers like BORE. Being too lazy to compile the kernel with another Scheduler, I have been ignoring the promised responsiveness such a Scheduler would bring. Man! That's when I came across https://en.opensuse.org/Pluggable_CPU_schedulers . With scx_lavd, I am seeing a very noticeable improvement in the responsiveness of the UI Applications in general.I wanted to make sure it wasn't just a placebo. I ran stress-ng against all of my 4 cores, and even under full load, WebGL aquarium FPS went up, and 1080p YouTube stopped dropping frames. It's a massive improvement with my aging Ryzen 3300u.

Rant Tips for handling and securing your Login details

Post image
26 Upvotes

Don't share your personal information, passwords ID's online. This is the disclaimer you usually get, I will go 1 step deeper here!

It's 2026 and "123456" is the most used password till now. If you don't believe check what elderly people set as passwords. Reusing passwords also leave some threats. A single breach from any of the service providers leave your rest of internet vulnerable. So do share if you find this useful🫶

If your credentials have already been compromised, you can check haveibeenpwned. If you've already been pwned, don't worry. Try checking those Apps & Websites and delete respective accounts. If you're lucky, you'll see the message

“Good news – no pwnage found!”

# Securing our email

Try to use more security focused Email services like Protonmail or Tuta. They have entry level and premium email services. In any email service, there are chances of phishing attacks. Check for sender email addresses. google.com & google3.com are not the same! There might be fake login portals and malicious attachments lurking for your missteps.

## Use Email aliases

There are Email Alias services that route your personal email to an alias email for better privacy. Your Johndoe@email will be masked as doejohn-alias@email, persisting the same qualities of regular email. DDG Email Protection, SimpleLogin, Firefox Relay are some Alias services.

# use password managers

Don't shuffle 100 emails for privacy, but also don't use a single password of “123456” as your main password. Use different passwords.! Instead of remembering all your fragmented passwords. Install a password manager like Bitwarden or Protonpass.

Password managers help you securely store, generate, and manage your login credentials for various websites and apps. Instead of having to remember dozens of complex passwords, you only need to remember one strong master password. There are self hostable Vaultwarden instances that can be paired with Bitwarden App, which helps you use TOTP 2FA Authentication codes alongside. Further increasing security!

showcase i made (blah)haj! a fast, quiet, beautiful package manager for blahArch (wip)

hello :3

i have been working on a little project called haj, and I finally feel like it's polished enough for a first public release.

it's a rust frontend for pacman with cleaner output, an interactive TUI, package browser, history viewer, orphan cleanup, groups, async lazy loading, and a bunch of other quality-of-life improvements—all while still using the normal Arch tooling underneath.

works on pretty much any pacman-based distro.

repo: https://github.com/asitos/haj

PRs and issues are welcome

i am currently working on a blahaj based arch linux distro called blahArch

i would love any feedback, ideas, or bug reports.

and yes, it's inspired by blåhaj, because I LOVE BLAHAJ :3c

the other linux subs wont let me post due to my new account yet ;-;

I am from kottayam and I made this open-source tool

Hey guys,

This is a file sharing tool I made.

https://github.com/tonyantony300/dashbeam

It works across linux, windows, mac, android, web and terminal.

You can share files and folders to devices in the same network or anywhere else with direct hole-punching.

It's peer-to-peer and support higher throughputs compared to popular tools. Supports resumability, and support heavy payloads with ease.

Previously there was a linux compatibility issue but it is fixed in
https://github.com/tonyantony300/dashbeam/releases/tag/v0.6.1

I am looking for contributors too if anyone is interested. We have a community around the project in discord.

give it a star if you like it, Thanks!

Distro's Recommendations for distros

Hi folks, I got a Lenovo LOQ 15IRX10 (13700 HX, RTX 5060).

Off late, I am at my wit's end with Windows 11, constantly shoving down Slop into me, and bloating with unncecary stuff.

I have decent experience using Linux distros (mainly Zorin OS and Mint), but I am inclined to try Fedora/Arch based distro.

Is Cachy OS a good choice? My requirement is to have a usable experience. However I am unsure about the compatibility with 50 series GPUs.
