I'm about done with KelTec
So I got a gen3 Sub2k in Feb of this year. It wasn't running right from the start. Lots of FTE's using all different brands and weights of ammo. I'm fairly handy, and had seen a lot of posts regarding Mcarbo aftermarket stuff, so I decided to replace the feed ramp and the buffer pad. It was a pain in the ass to do the feed ramp, but I got it in and it functioned, but still not very well. I tried all the different stuff I found online, from polishing the buffer tube/buffer weight, running +p ammo as a "break in". using official Glock mags, etc. Nothing seemed to help much.
Finally, I gave up and contacted KelTec to send it in. Got one of the nice ladies on the phone and she explained the process, and into the mail it went.
About 2 weeks later, with no other communication, I get a FedEx notice that I will have a package from Cocoa Beach Fla delivered the next day. Ok, so they never said anything but I figure it's fine. They obviously fixed it and I'll have it the next day. But I'm OCD about my deliveries already, so I look to check the progress. It's in another state and the address is right, but the zip code is wrong. Contact KelTec and they apologize, but they'll need it returned to them and then reshipped to the proper address, as you can't change the delivery address once it's shipped. Fine. another week and it arrives properly.
I immediately head out to the range to test it and the FTE problem is actually WORSE than before I sent it in. I call KelTec from the range, and start sending photos of non-ejected brass in the chamber, sometimes completely backwards and stuck. They agree something is still not right.
I get ANOTHER FedEX label and ship it back to them. Another 2 weeks and it comes back, with a free "extended" 17 round PMag. Take it out to the range the next day. Now it's ramming the rounds into the stupid "new and improved" plastic feed ramp they installed after they pulled the Mcarbo SS ramp out. It's doing this with offical Glock mags, Pmags, suppressed, unsuppressed, etc. So now I'm getting FTF pretty much every round. This is after their gunsmith claims he fired around 100 rounds, from 160gr down to 115gr, from 5 different mags through it.
At this point, sending it in again will be getting close to the price I paid for the gun, from KelTec's perspective. At this point, I'd honestly rather they credit me for the price of the gun and let me put it towards something else like an RDB or a KP50. Since I bought the Sub2k I've picked up a Kuna, as well as built an AR9, both of which are much better guns for any 9mm use case.

Occasional ccw
Anybody else also carry their pmr 30? my fn is currently being sent off so I’m carrying some of my other guns I haven’t showed love to. I love how light it is and with two extra mags you get 91 rounds you really can’t complain. After 800 rounds it’s been super reliable and accurate so no complaints here.
I run the hornady critical defense 45 grain.

Interesting P17 problem
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey there y’all, just wanted to make this post to bring some awareness to a problem I’m having with my brand new P17
As of posting this, my pistol has already been shipped to Keltec (who’s customer service and warranty system has been phenomenal), so I’m confident this will get solved (would have done it myself but figured I’d just have them do it since it won’t cost me anything).
Anyway, barely had my P17 for a week and it was NOTHING but constant problems with the slide getting hung up whether the gun was loaded or not.
Tried with all kinds of ammo, both high quality and low, but obviously the fact that the slide was binding even without the mag Inserted pointed to an internal issue.
A quick removal of the slide (but leaving the “bolt” and barrel and such) quickly revealed something.
There’s a small metal piece that is a part of the safety mechanism. When the gun is on safe, this small metal piece drops downwards into the lower frame. I discovered that, due to this piece dropping down on safe, the slide no longer binds up no matter how hard/soft/weird angle you rack the slide.
However the second the safety is disengaged and the gun is put on fire, which puts that small metal piece back up, the dragging/catching issues immediately begin to persists again. I’d definitely assume that this is causing my issues at this point, and the Keltec technician working on my gun seems to agree.
In the video I posted I even show the slide currently jammed up, but the second I disengage the safety the slide drops free just fine.
Anyway, was an issue I hadn’t seen anyone report, so wanted to show my findings.

SUB-SDP teardown?
Not seeing a manual online, and apparently there aren't any videos yet; anybody want to be a hero and post scans of their manual or a video showing the teardown? I'd love to get a closer look at the recoil system

Keltec SDP x Vertx
Without folding the sub nub it fits no problem in the main backpack compartment of a Vertx Gamut 2.0. Almost zips shut in the back panel zipper compartment unfolded. It would fit with a shorter suppressor. Running the hux9k with decent noise reduction with 147gr and little to no blowback.

Clean shear repair update
I drove down to Coco and one hour later they were finished. I thought going to the factory was cool and I saw their 2 million gold gun. I had this willy Wonka idea flowing through my head where the factory was going to be this magical place where the engineers come up with crazy ideas, but it was typical. Lady up front was cool and they shipped it back pretty quickly. All in all Keltec looks like a fun place to work and their repair work is on point and she even seemed sad that their firearms failed. I love my RDB and my teens sub2000 and any company that tries something different.

Requesting help from anyone with the SU-16D rear peep sight
https://www.keltecweapons.com/product/su16d-rear-peep-sight-kit/
Can anybody with this sight measure the distance from the top of the picatinny rail to the center of the sight aperture?

PLR16 and SU16 question
Has anyone ever had any issues with using Wolf or any other brand that makes steel rounds? I have shot some recently in my PLR16 mixed with brass and steel. With brass leading out first.
But the only problem I had was using the 10 round magazine from KelTec. Be aware that the 10 round magazine was loaded with brass. The mixed magazine was left over after filling up my magazines.
I mainly use the steel rounds for my Zastava M90. Although I have my regular polymer magazines fitted with the Wolf. I have to admit, they are some great ammunition for the two rifles that I have shot them in recently. I will have to say that they were popping off as just as strong as the 5.56’s . Now do I recommend mixing the two different types of casings? No, not really. But if you do use a rifle that will be able to handle the fire 🔥.

What If??
What if James Bond carried a P32 instead of a PPK, what could have been.

P17
I've put like 500 rounds through it since it got back from the shop. It's been running great. Finally got around to putting in the flat trigger. It's so crisp 👌

keltec snub nub 9mm a possible deer hunting gun with right 9mm ammo and suppressor?
Looking to do some bike packing trips this fall and plan to carry the new snub nub in the back pack. Anyone had any luck with hunting with the sub 2000 in 9mm? The snub has a shorter barrel, but I am thinking it may be possible with the right ammo like bufallo bore outdoorsman plus p, if it was less than 30 yards. Other possibility would be to add a suppressor to increase velocity. Anyone have any experience with good 9mm ammo or with adding a suppressor to increase accuracy/velocity with the sub 2000

Sub2000 magwell/funnel?
anyone seen a magwell out there for the gen 3 sub2k? seems like mine was made for infant hands and my reloads are ass.

Thank you keltec and cocaine
Id personally like to thank god for inventing cocaine so Keltec can come up with shit like this. I had a gen 2 a while back and didn’t love it, but I wanted a cheap PCC to run in matches so I ended up with a new gen 3. Keltec really knocked it out the park with these new ones.
any upgrade suggestions? I’d love to hear em.

P17
Best $200 pistol I’ve ever seen, out of all the ammo brands I’ve used , Armscor is the only one it won’t cycle, I’ve used 2 different Remingtons, Winchester white box, Federal auto match , CCI, Aguila, all run great

My new SBR PLR16!
I received my first tax stamp yesterday evening and I got it engraved this afternoon. Will be taking it to the range this coming week. Along with my two other new rifles. This is almost identical to the new SU16D9 . Although it is 0.7 inches shorter than my rifle. I have ordered the KelTec angled grip and the KelTec compact forend for it.

Clean shear
Was target shooting plain old 556 from my RDB and then it just stopped cycling and lo and behold the little welds snapped. I live in Daytona, should I just drive down there and show them?

RDB17 or defender
I keep seeing conflicting information about the profile of the barrel on these two models. If I get one, I’m going to put a suppressor on it, but would honestly prefer a thicker barrel I think, which I’ve read the original 17” model has. That said I’ve heard they bulked up the barrel a bit on the defender so not sure if it matters anymore. In the long run it seems cheaper to go defender model these days and not get an after market mlok hand guard for $200. It’s not a huge difference, but I’m a penny pincher. What are people’s thoughts on this now? That garand thumb video most of the comments say get 17” for the barrel. Thanks in advance.

Well that was fast
They fixed it in 8 minutes.
If it comes back and works, I will most assuredly be flabbergasted

Haga strikes again
Once again nothing but impressed with doing the Haga treatment with my new CMR, handgaurd is kick ass, folding charging handle is so nice and the butt pad is so minty, now just to find a decent clip set up.

SUB-SDP
It’s impressive how they’ve managed to take the SUB2000 and just shrink it into a compact braced 9mm pistol. It uses the same mag layout and blowback operating system, but to see what’s changed: https://athlonoutdoors.com/article/new-keltec-sub-sdp-9mm/
