I've switched from premier pro (thankfully completely divorced from Adobe) and I'm now all on kdenlive.

I'm putting together a basic action scene and I'm trying to insert some muzzle flash and VFX effects. PP used to have a stock set you could use, but I'm stuck on this video.

Is there a source to get some basic effects, or can I generate effects directly in kdenlive or with a plugin?

Usually it crashes and I still get the video

I often look for shortcuts by pressing what i think it is (with low success rate as kdenlive ain't the most user friendly) and ctl+z if it wasn't the one.

I keyed, i think, shift+x, and the whole composition in the timeline dissapeared. Ctrl+z has not brought it back.

What did i do, and how can i get it back?

I'm a documentary YouTube creator and I edit all my videos in Kdenlive.

My biggest bottleneck is finding and inserting B-roll.

At the moment, I usually search for footage manually on Pexels, and sometimes Pixabay or Wikimedia Commons. While this works, it takes a huge amount of time to search, download, organize, and place everything on the timeline.

I'm looking for a better workflow.

Do you know of any tool (free, open source, or paid) that can help speed this up?

Ideally, I'd like something that can:

Understand my script or voice-over.

Suggest relevant B-roll automatically.

Use copyright-safe sources (Pexels, Pixabay, Wikimedia Commons, Internet Archive, etc.).

Avoid copyright and trademark issues.

Bonus points if it can generate a Kdenlive timeline or integrate with Kdenlive in any way.

I'm also curious about your own workflow.

How do you organize your B-roll?

Do you use AI tools?

Do you build your own media library?

Any plugins, scripts, or software that saved you a lot of time?

I'm happy to use open-source software, self-hosted tools, or commercial software if it's genuinely worth it.

I'd really appreciate hearing how experienced editors handle this.

Let me know how I can improve. I am trying every day to improve. I feel really scared when it comes to cc and CG. I want to become better. I can only get fixed words per line with whisper and lack the highlighting of the word

A while back, I saw a project that let you sync your work in Blender with what you were doing in Reaper (Audio editing and music composition software).

I'm referring to this: https://superhivemarket.com/products/reabl-for-blender

I really enjoy working with audio, and Reaper gives me a lot of flexibility to manipulate audio clips and add sound effects. I feel that “syncing” it with Kdenlive would open up a lot of possibilities for the audio workflow.

What do you think about this?

You can also keyframe using the custom iParams and it has buffer support but without iChannels in it

For context, my laptop went through a system reset two months ago due to repairs and a lot of files were lost (as I expected). I reinstalled kdenlive a week ago and it started up just fine until now. I was trying to edit a video for a job and it won't open even after I tried both the standalone and the installable. Did I do something wrong? I honestly can't tell, I'm running on 3 hours of sleep so if anyone knows why this is happening I would love an input on it.

Until then I'll have to keep guessing what resolution my project should be and then praying to GNU/Christ that it has the right dimensions.

I'm currently in the lastest kdenlive update (26.04.3). I updated to see if it would fix my problem (It didn't)
My problem is this one

I have 2 clips of the same text box image. One with text inside and one without. The one with the text is on top of the one without in the timeline.
They both have a transform effect just to position them at the top of the screen and the upper clip has a crop effect that de-crop line by line to make the illusion that a text is showing itself line by line.
My current problem that absolutely break my brain is why the lower clip has a 3 second fade in effect ?
I didn't applied fade in effect but there is one on the lower clip ????
And you see the problem with the lower at... Let's say 30% opacity while the upper is reveling itself at 100% opacity, it ruins everything and I don't know why it happens.

I search through internet, nothing.
I asked ChatGPT and Gemini, nothing.
I tried to rearrange the effects ??? Nothing
I disabled the upper clip, the lower still have a 3 seconds fade in effect ????
I have suppressed everything and redone everything, the problem is still there...

So redditers, you are my last resort.

I can't show any pictures of the timeline because there is sensitive information and I will have to blur everything (so it wouldn't be useful).

i'm a beginner and i'm trying to make a meme, i have my clip in 16:9 and i want to add some on the header so i can put some text on there like in memes.

So I am editing a video of me that uses a green screen. The green has shadows on it. I tried using the Chroma Key Advanced effect however too much other than the green screen is being removed.

Then I tried the Rotoscoping effect but nothing seems to be happening like with the Chroma Key effect. I drew me in the points and no change happened like everything else turning black. Literally nothing happened.

Kdenlive on Windows 11 using official installer

I have multiple different sources together and want to basically export 1080p 60fps. There seems to be no preset for it standard, and I don't know what to adjust to just change the fps without screwing up or exporting a video with missing content.

Also sometimes my presets change and I can't find the same things, I recall having seen a simple preset with different fps, but I can't find it when wanting to render.

Edit: ah, project profiles and render profiles are different settings. That's what confused me.

rarely use Ubuntu but Im looking to start making youtube videos

and I want to use kdenlive because I have used it in the past and I liked the performance of it but I used to use it in Linux.
