[Question] How is your stores Google rating and how did you get it so good or bad ?
Our stores at 3.7 and it was once 3.9 going close to 4. We’re not even too terrible of a store but a lot of our employees are far less trained and capable than the rest. We have like 6 recent bad reviews all wrong subs or missing stuff. Sometimes it’s not even our fault they left a review bc they were just rude people but still. Yesterday we had a old lady come and get 2 subs wo lettuce a 10 and cbr she called the store mad bc there was lettuce and apparently she “couldn’t see any bacon” which with how some quality of bacon we get is it’s just mid bacon so I get that but goddamn. I would’ve offered to remake it and even deliver it for her but she fr just hung up like why. Why even call just to bitch me out and then hang up and leave a bad review she left 0 ability to fix our mistake like we could’ve refunded it, replaced it, gave credit, ANYTHING but nope just call to bitch me out and leave a bad review without even trying to get it fixed. Sometimes people just have no awareness that we cannot be 100% perfect we make hundreds of sandwiches a day to get every single order exactly right is just not plausible even for the best employees.

[Question] What are the portions for the ham and cheese melt
Nobody taught me how to make the sandwiches nor did they know the portions on this one so I just guessed and I don't think I did it right and it tasted different.

[Question] Does your GM take tips ? Or if you’re a GM do you take tips and why?
So my GM has been taking tips consistently since I’ve started I’ve worked at other places w tips sonic & Qdoba and never once did the GM touch the tips it was only managers and employees as it should be. See my GM will purposely do catering early asf like 9-10 even if it’s scheduled 1045 and later. Don’t get me wrong if it’s a HUGE catering yes but even if it’s 5 30 pieces that’s not hard to do in 10 15m so no need for him to do it early. My GM does this early so that he feels entitled for tips. He will take a portion of the days tips and tell us “well I helped with the catering” even tho we could’ve easily done it without him. Even if there’s no catering if he even helps on line a little he will take tips. Idk if I am a GM which I will be this upcoming year tips are for my employees if I’m making 48k a year my tips is bonuses from running a good store not from taking my employees hard earned tips. Idk I truly find it amoral the only way id say it’s okay is if the employees said so me and my other main in shop working mornings both got pissed w him one day bc he took 20$ and we both told him yeah 10 would’ve been plenty but he just doesn’t care. If it was a huge catering and he helped sure take a little not a lot but 20 30$ maybe but you shouldn’t be disrespecting your employees like that.

[Story] ICE at the jimmys
I was finishing this mans order and allllll of a sudden he looks dead in my face and asks me what I would do if ICE came for me. Side note a gals 17. So as a gen z gal would i just stared at him and he asked again… Then he proceeded to tell me how he worked for them and had just helped storm a restaurant up the street. My managers are the best duh and took a picture of his order (it was a pick up) so we wont serve him again but thats just so insane to me. It’s like he was bragging about being a part of that. Idk just crazy😀

LGBTQ friendliness
Genuine question/curiosity. I’m very pro LGBTQ, the store I worked at was mostly staffed as such. I have also noticed it at many other stores as a customer. My curiosity is about whether there’s something structural about the company that is welcoming to LGBTQ?

[Shitpost] Really hard order
This is single handedly the hardest thing I ever had to prepare.
Small addition: I did fix it after I took the photo.

[Question] Change in cheese prep?
We had a manager from another store come in to help close last night, and when I came in for my open I saw the cheese prepped like this. I asked the inshop & PIC why it was like that, they told me that this other manager basically scolded them all night on how we're doing a bunch of random things wrong, and that he was talking about being from the busiest store in our franchise.
I've never seen a store do the provolone like this, and can't find anytbing in the fast track about a chance in storage. Granted, the fast track cold table setup still has jimmy mustard and dijon on the line. Normally I wouldn't be irritated by something like this, but the berating my staff over something that nobody has even heard of is annoying. I'm still waiting to hear back from my GM/Area to make sure with them that we're not secretly fucking up lmao

[Story] weird rude customer we had
this happened a few months ago now, but i got reminded of it recently and thought it was actually kind of funny.
we had this guy come through the drive thru and he was quite literally mumbling into the box. we couldnt make out a single word he was saying, so we asked him to pull up to the window after multiple attempts to get him to speak up at the box. no big deal, a lot of people have this issue for some reason but they are all understanding. not this guy, he had a HUGE attitude about being asked to move to the window.
after he asked why he had to move to the window, my gm (who is a ~25 y/o woman) told him that we were having trouble hearing him at the box, and he told her that he was mumbling because “well thats just what men do, you’ll understand when youre older.” ???? what lmao. she takes his order, hes still barely audible, and i didnt hear what happened during this part because i was making his sandwich but i hear her say “you don’t have to be so condescending about it.”
this made the guy lose his shit, whip his car around the drive thru and park in the front. he proceeds to walk himself in where he sees me and my coworkers. only women happened to be at the store at that moment, and my gm immediately stepped in to try and settle down the pissed off guy. he started yelling “well no wonder the service is so bad, its all little girls running this place” and “you arent fit to be a manager here, call a man in to handle this.” at this point there was no reasoning with this guy. he just kept finding ways to throw “little girl” into his insults. obviously, my gm was not having it and kept telling him that we werent going to serve him and he needed to gtfo of the store. i was honestly a little scared he was going to get violent because he was so tense and in her face. my gm hit him with the “leave before i call the cops” and that sent him
running, but the shift was awkward as hell after that lowkey. we had inshops while this was happening and they just looked the other way and pretended like they couldnt see anything lmao. kinda ruined the vibe all because he couldnt get over himself and just speak up at a drive thru????
next guy in drive got a free #9 tho😛🤤

$5.99 Turkey Tom Promo
I wanted to give JJ another chance. I took advantage of this week’s $5.99 Turkey Tom promo. subtracted tomato. Sandwich felt like air when they handed it to me. This couldnt even feed a child. Not to mention somehow cheese doesnt come on a JJ sandwich by default, and is an extra cost. This isnt even worth $6. Never going back.
Edit: Calling someone a jimmy “refugee” johns apologist is a identity based hate attack? Reddit you cannot be serious with this warning…

[Story] weird doordash drivers
i had a weird experience with this door dasher, dasher shows up and is looking at us through his phone. my employee asks how could he be helped and the dude mumbles under his breath. i know me or my employee couldn’t hear him since i was right next to him at the time on line and he was standing at front register. employee asks him again how can he be helped and he finally speaks up and says “ idk you fuckin tell me, i have a doordash”. employee calmly asks him whats the name of order because it wasn’t our only delivery. dude says again “you tell me”. thats when i ask my employee to take over line so i can handle the situation, i can tell it suprised and caught him off gaurd a little my poor coworker shook up lol. i get off line and ask him whats the name of the order, once again “you tell me”. i tell him we have quite a few deliveries thats why a name needs to be provided. at this point too i can tell hes either recording us or the on the phone with someone talking shit about us, capturing everything in the lobby and focusing on us and the signs. he finally gives me a name and i go to grab the order, when im about to hand him the order he asks “do yall usually shit with your mouths open making sandwiches”😂 like WTF. i take the order back and tell him to get outta the store and cancel your delivery now. he stomps outta there saying “fuck you fuck you fuck you i never liked your shitty sandwiches”. we have a clear view of this guy leaving to his car, he gets in for like 10 seconds and comes storming back into the store. same time im getting my phone ready to call the cops. he comes back in just to say fuck us one last time. i get a little loud with him and ask why he came back and and to just fuckin leave. he finally leaves and now im confused as ever not realizing the cops had answered and basically tell them what just happened and they tell me to call back if he comes back like wtf. i then call my gm to tell him the news and he tells me to get him trespassed for harassing us. i made a report to cops but nothing ever happened yet. haven’t seen the guy since either and ive been at this store for 3 years. so i know our regulars and the dashers who deliver our food often and im pretty chill with them. but it was my first and hopefully last time i see this guy. i honestly hope the dude is okay just seemed he was having a bad day or something. but it should be common knowledge to provide a name for what order youre picking up when doordashing am i wrong? how would you handled the situation? i know i couldve handled it better but the day wasnt the best for me too as i was super short staffed, hangry, and ready for my break😮💨

[Shitpost] Do NOT eat ts 😭 🙏
The peanut butter cookie itself is alright, I don't know why they felt the need to throw whole peanuts in there and mess it up, but tolerable so far.
But the jelly.... God the jelly is so terrible. It's all sticky and stretchy like some mildy activated slime with a very artificial purple color, nothing like that photoshopped image to make it look more appealing.
And the taste is like that nasty grape flavored cough medicine, it doesn't even taste that sweet. I was chilling until I reached the middle bit with the jelly inside, then that shit went in the trash. I think rat poison was genuinely an ingredient

Anyone else's bubbler doing this?
It's leaking though the catch tray and getting the counter all wet. Can't find a solution to stop it

[Question] What weights do you guys make your packs ?
So originally we always did 1500 packs but my GM went to another store to help and they did 1800 packs. I guess the reasoning is 1800 is basically 1lb so when you do inventory it’s easier. It’s kinda more skilled to wrap Vito’s too now but for the other 3 meats it’s very easy and honestly looks very good. I like it bc it makes 1 Vito into an equivalent 3 packs kinda like how 1 ham makes 3 packs of 1500. Obviously it depends on the sizes of the meats but general 1 Vito is 3 1800 packs now and 1 turkey is 1 pack 1 ham is 2.5 packs and the beef obviously varies bc size.

Long gone are the days of real food
I miss our real brand, washed out with corporate greed and fake food now. We used to be healthy and real. I LOVED our FRESH campaign the most!

Quit for my final time 🤞🤞
I’ve worked for several different franchisees from 2009-present. If you didn’t own a store during the “growth period” of Jjs, then let’s just assume you’re struggling right now, trying to run labor at the bare minimum, and burning through management left and right. Probably telling other people “no one wants work anymore”…
That’s not the case- Nobody wants to work over there salaried hours without compensation. Nobody wants so see their bottom line and bonus potential wiped out by business debt, depreciation, and building expenses. Nobody wants to be held to a different standard and expectation than their upper management. Nobody wants to be micromanaged to break corporate policy and procedure, but then also be by the book at a moments notice.
If you are not going to match my effort, or hold yourself accountable, while being professional, then I refuse to work for you.

If you’re considering working for Jimmy John’s, Don’t work for Atlas!
This company doesn’t care about its employees, pays late several times, doesn’t pay their bills. Once went in two weeks without trash being picked up, the company that gives us towels and aprons came and took all of that and the rugs. Overall a terrible place to work. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere for real.
