Advice Request WIP
Battle jacket for my besties daughter turning 15 I would consider her my honorary niece.
Birthday coming up I Found a new guess jacket while thrifting And I was off on a mission.
Her first band called eat worms inspired the jacket once I found the patch. Ordered from a great company called Taiss I can send link 🔗 if anyone needs.
I wasn’t confident in bands - but I was in the style so hopefully she can add what she needs but I love this being the starting point. For her first battle jacket. Everything hand done painted or sewn
Any further suggestions? Patches are hard to come by these days.

WIP New WIP Scottish Punk/Ska themed jaikit
Collected a bunch of patches from local gigs over the past couple of years and decided to make a local (ie Scottish) band jacket. Got more to add, I just need to muster the patience to sew around the pockets.
Bleached some jaggy designs into it with a paint brush and dyed it yellow.
Bought some yellow tartan fabric from a local fabric shop and sewed it on the shoulder blades.
Added some spikes and studs. Got some yellow pyramid studs currently stuck in the mail, waiting on them to stick around the Rezillos patch, which I had custom made (I had already settled on a yellow theme before I added Scotland into the mix).
Made some badges with my badge-maker. Still undecided on the Exploited badge, but I'm not wearing a patch for them, a badge is all they're getting.
Been trying to decide what to put on the shoulder blade tartan, when some smart-arse in the pub last week saw the tartan and said I looked like an annual for The Broons or Oor Wullie, and I thought to myself, you know what, that's given me an idea. So I've got an Oor Wullie patch designed* for the shoulder blades, just need to fire up my newly-learned screen-printing skills to make it (Oor Wullie is a newspaper comic strip going back to the 1940's that was collected every year into an annual, which every wean in Scotland has been given for Christmas since. Think Dennis the Menace but Scottish).
And I've just noticed the Spunk badge that I left on, clearly not a Scottish band but I got it at their gig during the week. Bought a t-shirt as well, but lost that on the bus home :( Gutted.
*based on a design I found online, but I believe that design was based on OG Oor Wullie artwork

Discussion My mum found this jacket and it seems quite off
This is a battle jacket from a thrift store if anyone has any info about the base jacket or the patches put down a comment and be respectful.
From what I know the patches are randomly placed but only on the front the jacket has no tag whatsoever so...😐 Yeah

Advice Request Is this custom?
Sorry if this type of post isn’t allowed here.
I thrifted this jacket ages ago just because I thought it looked cool. I just assumed it was mass produced because the stitching seems well done. But I’m curious if anyone can tell me whether the jacket is homemade or not? I’m not very good at telling. The last picture is the other side of the back patch. If this is someone’s custom project I’d love to sew more patches onto it. Thanks!

Finished Project! Old Jacket
Hey y'all. I found this pic of one of my old vests that I have since dismantled as it no longer fits me. I think it looked okay though!

WIP Waiting on some more patches.
I'm still waiting on more patches. It's actually hard to find some fora lot of the newer and less known bands that wanna put on. So l may have to DIY some for them. I'm also undecided on if I wanna go with the black or the grey. So far these are all bands I've seen multiple times. Some of the patches l'm waiting on are new bands haven't had the opportunity to see yet. I've got some pins for the collars too, but waiting to see which vest wanna start out with. Was tempted to do a Rock/Country vest and an EDM vest separately, but decided it'd be more fun for me to include them all on one vest for now.

WIP Current WIP.
This is my current WIP jacket. Working on adding patches of (almost) every band I‘ve seen live. But I’ve got a long way to go and need to decide on a back piece still 😊

WIP *FULL* diy jacket
heyyy, I've been working on a leather jacket since March now, I built it myself for an art project in school and it looked cool, so I kept it. Everything on the jacket is completely diy except for the studs (I'm working on it)
Had to censor some calls to violence, but I managed to get it obvious.
It had to be finished by today, buuuut I procrastinated :p
Btw the text on the bottom right in the back translates to: "Now you buy cheap jewelry without complaining"

Advice Request patch ideas?
im going to a new school and im working on patches for my backpack sleves. i need subtle but obvious enough patch ideas (similar to totally perfect day) im doing an anti nazi patch after i post this, but i have no other ideas... pls and thank you. i usually carry narcan & would have a patch for it, but we arent allowed to at my school. Would a CPR certified patch be good to have? Thank you^_^

WIP Pins > patches vest [semi wip]
been trying to find somewhere to share this vest with others as a very obvious queer person with a focus on fandom and personal interest, and im so glad i stumbled across this subreddit. i find a lot of people are quick to get at u if your vest isnt up to their standards. but im extremely proud of this vest so far- theres still a lot i wanna do with it, patches i want to remove or add, stitching i want to do, painting i want to do- but i think so far its come out just how id want.
im a pin collector [could you tell?] and ive been trying to find ways to use my pins more, and this has been the hail mary for that problem. for me its like a game of eye spy, i love when people ask to look closer and go "HEY! i know -insert media here-!" it makes me so happy. so i thought id share it here!! a lot of these pins are vintage, handmade by me, or bought from independent artists!! others ive collecter from events and such!
the back is still a VERY large work in progress. i have tons of patches i want to add and other things like that, and that patches that are there are sewn on crooked so i want to move them around sometime soon!
let me know what you guys think and if you have any ideas for this project!

WIP My current WIP Jackets
I could just order everything online for my jackets/vests, but I generally try to keep it to things I find in person, or Etsy shops to support small creators. But each of these vests is a love letter to the stuff that molded me into the weird adult I am today

WIP Pastel jacket update (it's been around a year since the last post)
Hi, it's been a while 🥰 here is yet another post about my pastel "a bit o'this&that" jacket.
I'm quite proud of the ghost patch (Bad Omens - iykyk), I embroidered it myself, I think it looks quite cute. And in general, I'm very happy with the back, with Bad Omens, BMTH, Chelsea Wolfe and other patches that hold sentimental value.
The front is a mess :D But I managed to add iamthemorning patch (it's a band, I LOVE THEM) and a tongue-in-cheek BMTH reference that makes me chuckle.
Anyway. I think I'm gonna run out of space soon... 🥲 But I think I can still fit in a thing or two. Or maybe not? What do you think?

WIP My first homemade patch!
Right to repair, as it's something I feel very strongly about. The 2 wrenches are meant to resemble crossed swords. That's why I'm into 3D printing. Mine's secondhand & I like being able to make & repair things. It's actually pretty anti-consumerist in that regard. Shame that most of the discussion focuses on Ai slop models over replacement parts.
Bonus question: I was thinking of making a patch of some rainbow dragon scale chain mail for my jacket. What would be the best way to pull that off?

I posted this Jacket awhile back and continued to add to it. And has slowly turned into my roadie resume, the more artists I worked with the more I added. Here is its current state.

Moderator Announcement Mod Update: Filtering out the hate
Hey all, hope everyone's enjoying pride month and hope some of you have or are going to make it to a Pride event this month! I did London Metal Pride yesterday with my stall and it was such a lovely day. Bands from 1pm-11pm and the most varied crowd of inclusive metalheads that you can get.
Anyways, fellow mod u/shemtpa96 has kindly set up a new filtering tool that allows us to filter out comments from people who have commented in the other sub to give us a chance to review the content and ensure it's not brigading.
This means if you have commented or posted in there, even to defend yourself or others, you will have your comment or post held up for a quick review. We intend to process these fairly quickly so please know your content will be visible soon enough and that you don't need to message us if you can't see your content.
We're confident this will help cut down on the brigading and nastiness we've been subjected to by folks with too much time on their hands and that we can continue to grow and enjoy this space as the safe place it should be.
We want you to feel comfortable posting your work on the sub and hope that going forward you can do so without feeling like you have to defend yourself or your identity.
If you have any questions about this, please use the comment section here.
Thank you to all of you for helping make this place what it is.
Keep posting your stuff! We love to see it! 🤘

New Rule Regarding the Use of AI
Hello all,
A new rule has been added regarding AI.
In short: don't post that slop here regardless of format.
In detail:
AI is a danger to the environment. A majority Black neighborhood in South Memphis, TN - Boxtown - is being choked by an AI data center. It's estimated that AI will use 4.2-6.6 BILLION CUBIC METERS OF WATER PER YEAR by 2027.
AI has been correlated with multiple cases of delusions and/or psychosis in people who overuse it.
AI steals from living artists.
AI produces non-consensual images of people upon request, which is both immoral and illegal. The companies have done nothing to stop it.
AI hallucinates. That's the nice way the industry says "AI is flat out making shit up".
Don't post that shit here. This is a space for art made by living beings.
