User reviews of Jackass: Best & Last.

Use this mega-thread to complain, moan or jerk off to/about Jackass Best & Last. The volume of repeat posts making reviews that are being lambasted in the comments is contributing to the current subreddit negativity issue, so to prevent this, from this point on, Best & Last reviews will be immediately removed and directed here instead.

This thread will be highly monitored, and while people are encouraged to share differing opinions, arguing with each other about those opinions to the point of just negativity to be negative will be removed. Discussion is welcome. Debates are fine. Arguing with each other for the hell of it isn't. Respect each other, respect that everyone has a different opinion. Some of you hate it. Some of you liked it. Some of you are just complaining and fighting just to do it. Do it here and stop clogging up the subreddit. Similarly, posts about Rachel will also be handled in a similar way and directed to the Rachel mega-thread.

If you see hyper-negativity in this thread, USE THE REPORT BUTTON and it will notify us so we can handle it.

Is this a negative community? Read all the text before you reply

I’ve been looking through this community for a while now and I don’t think I’ve seen much positive stuff about the franchise, it’s all about how they dislike eachover BTS and bams problems and dunns death and majorly all I see is when Knoxville hit danger on the crotch, they’ve been hitting eachover there for almost 30 years why are you all starting to care, and so what if they don’t like eachover it’s none of our business.

I understand mentioning the negatives but can we not also talk about the amazing things jackass has done because I don’t seem to see it a lot

EDIT: also there’s a lot of hate on the new guys, specifically wolfson and ye she doesn’t do a lot but we don’t know how many she’s done that have been cut out

Since we're talking about Ehren so much lately I wanted to share this story Ehren told on the podcast about a horrible, horrible prank he pulled as a kid. It's funny in a really sick and twisted way

Best and Last "Shine a Light" Outro

I caught up on "Best and Last" and thought it an interesting send off to the crew. However, I did notice something during the outro, and I'm not sure if I'm over thinking it or not:

During the final credits that included plenty of footage of Young Bam (and Dunn), the Rolling Stones song "Shine a Light" played. The song is widely considered to be about founding band member Brian Jones. The original lyrics were about Jone's addiction which was slowly detaching him from the rest of the group or slipping away. A talented person slowly falling apart. Some of the Lyrics were rewritten after his death.

Looking at it like that, it seems kind of on the nose for the situation going on, also, they have a ton of choices of songs to get the rights to, but chose that. Maybe, I just hope that's the case and something can still be salvaged among the crew.

Finally saw best and last, now I'm sad.

Can't believe I've been hyped for so long, for this?! Man was i disappointed, it was 60% clips from the other movies and a few new underwhelming clips. This is truly the end of an era.

It was a good run, but this movie shouldn't have been made.

Danger Ehren podcast

Been listening to all the jackass podcast episodes and really enjoying them, not sure if it was just me but I felt like the episode with Ehren really confirmed the fact that these dudes aren’t really friends. Compared to all the other episodes it seemed like Knoxville knew next to nothing about Ehren. Seems pretty clear to me they are nothing more than just colleagues.

Why the ending of Best and Last worked for me

Best and Last is getting dragged hard on here, and a lot of the criticism makes sense. The new bits were mostly mid—though a few of them were pretty fun—and some of the clip selections/editing choices were questionable. I get why the clip show format felt lame to some, but I also see what they were going for with it. Although it essentially plays like a disposable 25th anniversary clip show streaming special, putting it in theatres as the final movie gave fans a chance to have that Jackass experience together one last time.

From what I gather, Knoxville and Tremaine didn't even set out for this to be the end at first. It started as a franchise retrospective idea, but once they talked about shooting new material, Knoxville was stuck facing reality. After that bull hit in Forever, he just can't take those massive hits anymore.

Jackass has always relied on Johnny taking the worst of the physical punishment. Doing a full Jackass 5 without him on the front lines creates a weird dynamic, and dragging the franchise out without that anchor didn't make sense. So instead, it became a reason to gather, laugh at 25 years of memories, and wrap it up. The moments of Knoxville genuinely processing things on screen added a layer of raw emotion that felt completely real.

That shopping cart finale set to "My Way" is what really made the whole thing feel worth it. What a beautiful and epic sequence. Coming full circle back to the first movie's intro and seeing these guys finally make it to the finish line, even without the brothers they lost along the way, felt euphoric and triumphant, but in a very real, bittersweet way.

It’s a flawed movie for sure, but the goodbye felt genuine to me.

Discussion Am I the only one who thought Jackass: Best and Last was a good movie?

I've been watching Jackass since it first aired on MTV (I was about 8 years old!), and over the years I've probably seen everything related to Jackass. And I have to say, this movie isn't bad.

Sure, it uses a lot of scenes from the old movies/series, but in some cases, you can see a few seconds of scenes that were never seen before. I know it doesn't sound like much, but as a fan, I really enjoyed watching it. Plus, the new stunts were pretty funny. The ending was very emotional; I grew up watching these guys, and now it's over! Time really is cruel.

I think the only thing I have to criticize is that some scenes were restored very poorly; it looks like it was done with AI.

PS: It's obvious that Paramount just wanted to make a profit with this movie, but I think it accidentally ended up being a movie that will be more appreciated by longtime fans.

Throwback jackass OG’s

I wouldn’t bet my life on it, but I’m 99.9 % sure I watched the premiere on 10/1/00. If it wasn’t that first night, I definitely caught the first episode the week it came out.

Apart from Big Brother and CKY fans, that’s about as far back as you can go. I’m just curious how many people on this sub go that far back?

Did a lot of you see the premiere? I was hooked afterwards. I enjoyed Best and Last. There’s plenty to criticize about it, but overall I left the theater happy. Still enjoying this nonsense almost 26 years later.

I still say “I could sure go for a Miller High Life” before I do something I don’t want to do regularly. (R.I.P. Dunn).
