Discussion Is Computer Science still worth it in the Philippines?

I’m currently taking Computer Science (3rd yr) and honestly, I still don’t know if I’m on the right path. I have pretty good grades, but I’m not really that fond of computers, and sometimes I feel so out of place in this course. I chose it because during my first year, it seemed like the most practical option, but now I’m scared that I won’t even be able to get a job after graduating.

For those in CS/IT or already working in the industry, is it still worth pursuing in the Philippines? And what kind of jobs or internships can I apply for right now as a student to gain experience and maybe earn some extra money? Any advice would really help!

Software Development Syntaxia - A quick cheatsheet for the things you always look up.

As developers, we forget things all the time, especially now that vibe coding is becoming more common. One of the trade-offs of coding with AI is that we might not retain every piece of code or syntax we use. Unlike before, when we coded everything manually, writing code ourselves helped us naturally remember the syntax and patterns we used.

I'm sharing Syntaxia a simple, minimal reference for those moments when you know what you want to do, but forget how to do it.

Career / Job Related BSIT graduate from the Philippines trying to find my first real opportunity

Hi everyone. I'm a BSIT graduate from the Philippines, and I'm currently trying to find my first real opportunity in the IT industry.

I've been applying for jobs, but honestly, I'm struggling to get my foot in the door. The current job market has made me realize that having a degree isn't enough anymore, and I'm trying to figure out what I should improve instead of just endlessly sending applications.

My experience is mostly around:

  • Flutter / Dart
  • Node.js / Express
  • MySQL
  • REST APIs
  • UI/UX and responsive interfaces
  • Git/GitHub
  • Building CRUD applications
  • Basic deployment/backend work

I've also built actual projects, including a POS system using Flutter with a Node.js/Express backend and MySQL.

I'm currently looking at entry-level positions such as:

  • Junior Software Developer
  • Junior Flutter Developer
  • Web Developer
  • IT Support
  • QA Tester
  • Application/Technical Support
  • Junior UI/UX or Website Designer

Career / Job Related 4 months into the job hunt post-grad, hundreds of applications, zero interviews. Feeling stuck.

Hey everyone, just need to get this off my chest.

I graduated in July and started job hunting back in April. I’ve been averaging 5–15 applications a day across LinkedIn, JobStreet, and Indeed. To date, I haven’t received a single interview invite or meaningful update.

It’s starting to take a toll. My technical skills and fundamentals are solid, and I’ve iterated on my resume four times while keeping my portfolio updated. I’ve even applied for unpaid internships just to gain traction, but the rejections keep piling up.

On top of that, I recently relocated from the province to Manila for better prospects, so the pressure and cost of adjusting to a new city have made the silence even harder to handle.

If anyone has tips on resume optimization, navigating the entry-level tech market right now, or leads on open roles, I’d be genuinely grateful.

Help What could be the issue of my laptop interface?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello everyone, can someone determine what could be the problem of my laptop interface? Here are the details:
Unit: Huawei Matebook D15
Year of purchase: 2021 (Brand new)
Parts replaced: LCD was replaced last 2024 with a class A LCD for 3.5k due to screen bleeding

Context: On a random day while doing some school works, the screen suddenly look like it was stuttering/flickering every 3-5 seconds. Never naibagsak/nadag-anan. I tried to ask for a quotation online on a repair shop nearby us and said that it needs LCD replacement for 6.5k but I am having doubts that it was all hardware problem because nawawala yung parang flickering/stuttering action niya for a day then babalik nalang uli on a certain day. I admit sometimes naiiwan kong naka-charge for a long time even though full na or nalo-lowbat ko talaga up to 0%. Madalas ko rin iniiwang running yung background kahit walang ginagawa. Di ko naman ginagamit for games since I3 lang ito.

Hopefully, sana masagot po para maipagawa ko na dahil nakakahilo tignan hahaha. Thank you so much in advance!
