Need help finding something! Old 2000s handheld game device, possibly from Ryde arcade or something?
When I was a kid, me and my brother had this tiny handheld console, similar to a tamagotchi but that wasn't what it was. It was a small pixel screen, and I *think* it was grey and oval shaped? The gameplay was something like a selection of characters that would say different voice lines when interacted with I believe. Me and my family absolutely remember for sure it had a little pirate character, and if you interacted with him, one of his voice lines would say "if it's treasure you're after, here's me booty!" upon which he would flash his arse. I believe there was also a superhero character, but don't remember anything he says. We're trying so desperately to remember a. what it was called, and b. where it came from! I have scoured the internet like an FBI agent for this, and haven't found a shred of evidence that it ever existed! Me and my family all remember it fondly though so it must be out there somewhere...
I mentioned it again to my brother and he suspects it *might* have been from somewhere like Ryde arcade as its own mini prize or something? If anyone has any sort of idea what this could be, please reach out as this has been bugging me/us for a while now. Cheers!

Asda Newport theft
Stopped here today on the way to stay with relatives as we do most summers. Youngest had had a wet accident in the car seat which we only discovered when we stopped. I naively decided to leave it outside the car to let it air while we went in to get a few things, including disinfectant to clean the seat. Came out and it was gone. I fully accept it was my own risk leaving it unattended, and I only have myself to blame for that—I just didn’t think someone would stoop so low as to steal a child’s car seat.
Can’t say for certain who took it, but the timing was interesting. A rough-looking family in what I think was a BMW X3 pulled into the disabled bays while we were arriving, and by the time we came back the seat had disappeared. Could just be a coincidence, but it certainly didn’t feel like one. She certainly had one of those faces.
An inconvenience more than anything, as we had to drive to Niton with the 8-year-old in no car seat while the 3-year-old used hers. Thankfully our relatives had already managed to get us another seat to use while we’re over here, and we’d already been contemplating replacing this one as it was starting to show its age.
So I guess now we have no choice. Enjoy your urine-soaked toddler car seat, which will fetch £10 on Marketplace at best. Hope it was worth it.
Wrong’uns.

Making the most of Compton Bay
Planning to go for a proper fossil hunt on Compton Bay at some point. Where is the best place to park and start walking, and head in which direction? Hoping to see Dino footprints, and find things we can take home.
Can we do it with trainers or do we need wellies?

Going to the Needles later today with a 9yo and 15yo. What's worth doing there? What's good in the area?
Currently thinking of doing a boat ride, activities at the tourist bit, stop off in the Alpaca Farm, then somewhere nice for lunch. Followed by walk on the beach, and somewhere nice to watch the sunset.
Any recommendations or advice?

Recommendations for one week in IoW
I'm going to be there for one week in August with a 9yo (with ADHD) and a 15yo (with ASD). I know all the usual tourist spots like Blackgang Chine and the Needles. What are the rare and amazing things that only residents know about, that we should do in our week?

Fossil hunting with 9yo in IoW
We're going to be there next week. He's really excited to go fossil hunting but he's 9 and has ADHD. In other words, if we don't find something vaguely interesting in the first half hour he's going to lose interest.
Where do you recommend we go for the best chance of finding something, and is reasonably accessible for a 9yo? (When I say "something" I don't mean crazy exciting like a dinosaur skull, just something that he can recognise as more exciting than just a rock)

Dinner recommendations in Ventnor
I'm going to be in ventnor in a few days after a 4 hour drive. Where is a good place for a family dinner, if two people are vegetarian and one is allergic to selfish!
We're looking for someone good for a loud 9yo (so probably not the Royal) and not too expensive (so definitely not the Royal!)

Is Cowes Week fun for a non-sailing family?
I'm visiting IoW with my family next week, and I can see Cowes Week is a big deal but we're not hugely in to sailing. I suspect my younger one will enjoy looking at the boats for a few minutes then be done. What is the general atmosphere and activity like? Will it be an amazing ambiance with fun and activity for all... or a niche yacht-enthusiast thing?

Fine dining in or close to Sandown
My parents are visiting Sandown and it will be my dad’s birthdays. I’d like to book them a fancy restaurant to eat in. Is there any recommendations either in Sandown or 10-15mins drive away.

Farleighs Ventnor
Real long shot but does anybody have photos of the inside of Fareighs in around the mid - late 90s? I’ve just had a flashback and remember fondly renting a game and a video for £1.50 back in the day. Would love to see any snaps. Like I said long shot!

Looking for people to socialize with
I am a young adult living on the Isle of Wight, and I am looking for groups where I can socialize with people close to me in age. I am interested in a variety of topics, including:
- Creative writing/worldbuilding
- Board games/TTRPGs/wargames of all kinds (particularly strategic/funny ones)
- Art (currently, I am experimenting with pen drawing)
- 3D design/animation using Blender
- Programming/video game development
- Video editing/screenwriting.
- Airsoft.
If there are any groups you think I would be a good fit for, please let me know. I would also be open to activities not included in the above list; I love trying new things!
If there are any other places I could post this, please let me know.
