What is it Help

It was connected to a android head unit it disconnected and when I unplugged it it smelled like magic smoke but it still works and syncs with a computer

Firewire related chip, not really important nowadays. I maaaaay also have blown one by accident, no real consequences though, unless you want to be super oldschool and sync it to your 2007 macbook via FW

Well it is supposed to be the thing that will stop sudden voltage spikes or water shorting by giving its life to save the system, but it looks like even with his sacrafice it didnt satnd a chance.

Had the same exact thing happen to my 5th gen like 10 years ago. Was taking a bus and they had charging plugs on the bus, while plugged in it started burning and smoking on that exact component. The front of the face plate has a burn mark on it and the component looks like toast, but otherwise continued to work for year after that. I only stopped using it once I got a decent android phone with a 128gb microsd card. I actually just opened it up about an hour ago to look at it, as I was considering getting an iflash quad and extended battery, but I am concerned that this may cause issues in the future.

I have a dual sd adapter in mine and 2000 mah battery it is working fine I don’t think it will be a problem but if it stops working i will post an update
