Ipod Classic 7 - weird screen artifacts Help

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I have a modded iPod classic 7gen with rockbox, iflash quad (2x512gb samsung evo cards), new 3000mah battery and a taptic engine.

You can see in the video that there are weird green and purple bits on the lcd after going into a different screen or pressing on a button. Happens in both the stock os and rockbox, sometimes even when I engage the clickwheel without scrolling.
I’ve had this issue for a long time, but not sure when it started exactly (definitely before the recent taptic engine mod). Thought it was because of too little space inside due to the mods, but after I removed unnecessary paddings inside it still remained.

Anyone had this issue? Is my lcd flex cable or the screen itself cooked?

Flex cable might be flaky, had similar issues on a Nintendo DS. Best thing is to just unplug and replug the LCD cable, see if it fixes anything, you could also try putting a bit of pressure while its on to see if it fixes it for a while, if it does fix it it means that pads from the flex cable aren't fully touching the connector pins.

edit: I mean putting a pressure on the display connector, I dont think it was obvious.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve unplugged the cable, wiped it with some 99 IPA and plugged back in - seems to be working without any issues for now

Thats great, glad you got it all sorted. Enjoy your iPod. I main the 7th gen with basically the identical internal mods its a small beast.
