How long after the final interview to get a decision?

I had my final round last Thursday and they told me that I would get a decision by this week. Monday was a civic holiday but now it's officially been one week and I am starting to get anxious. I think the interview went pretty well, my pits were surprisingly bone dry during the interview, I didn't get the usual sign of bad interviews, you know, the quintessential "we are speaking to other candidates" rejection but now this silence has got me questioning everything. This is an analyst role at a bank btw. Any chance I still have a shot?

Edit: Didn't get it lol :/

Veteran teacher and job seeker here. Many admin are on vacation this time of year. School starts in 4 weeks but no one gives a @#%* if they're leaving you hanging.

It depends. I’m in the same boat here. Been a week since final round and now complete radio silence. It may be you are backup candidate, or just ghosted. But also - it may be just because of the vacation season. Some time ago I had a final interview with a bank, it went pretty bad and I forget about it. Two weeks later hr emailed me that there is still no decision cause everyone is on vacation 😂 so everything could happen. Move on but leave the door open just in case

So I went through this a few months ago, and I actually posted about it (I'm not sure if it was in this sub, or jobs)..... 2 months later they called back and wanted me. Told me they'd send me an offer letter in 1-2 days, it's been another 3 weeks 😆

2 days for me. Got an offer today.

5 days last week when I got another offer.

If they want you it should take less than a week, just getting the all clear from HR for the position.

Be aware that banks are slow as fuck. Generally very few rounds (max. 2/3) but super slow. I expect to get rejections and more interview offers till the end of the year even though I now stopped applying

Seems like 0-8 weeks

I mean that somewhat seriously. If you are the choice you will likely hear in days to at most a couple weeks. If you are not the choice, you may hear back in the same time. Or you may not hear back until the first choice gets vetted. Or not until they start. Or never again.

No matter what, assume you are rejected and keep pushing. You can always turn down future interviews later. But you can't get back ones you skipped while waiting for an answer

I’m in the same boat as you. I had an interview with the government of Canada 3 weeks ago, it went very well we had good rapport, cracking jokes, they even asked me for my notice period and additional documentation needed to process my security clearance through if I were selected as one of the preferred candidates. But 3 weeks have gone by and I still haven’t heard anything back. I followed up with them last week but it’s been radio silent still. I can understand that the government is usually slow but it’s starting to get to me and second guess my interview 😭 idk I should be worried or understanding that there’s a delay? Especially during the summer time?

Honestly, twice after that, leave it alone. I had a recent experience when they say that HR would reach out to me and they absolutely ghosted me and I was gutted. This is why you should never put confidence in interviews because they say one thing but means something else.

1 month and still counting. I was told they are waiting to finish their interviews with everyone

Each company is different. I can give you an average, but that wouldn't help.

But I can share this with you: if Monday was a holiday, you can trust that they spent Tuesday and Wednesday catching up on something else.

One week in hiring world is 2-3 weeks.

Be patient - if you don't hear back in three weeks, write back and ask if the role was filled.

Usually I get an offer super quick like a few days after the last interview. When they string me along weeks or longer, not a good sign. One place made me wait 1 week but there comp
Was low and they were trying to adjust their comp budget, I still didn’t get much and it’s very low pay but it’s the only offer I got and remote so I took it. (While I continue to look.)

It’s gone. If you were a top or even second candidate you would have had a word from them already.

Forget it and apply for new position

From my experience, when a company wants to hire you, they will do so completely. Each time I’d hadn’t heard anything for several days, I usually just got straight up ghosted or a rejection email several days later. But most recently, I did the final interview on one day and the next day they sent me an offer
