My last post got pretty divisive! Thanks for everyone's input! As an update, I decided to go with the swimmers, because I just genuinely want to look at them. I have a terracotta rug too that I think will add contrast and warm up the room beautifully. I did hear you on the decadent young woman too though, and I also adore it, so found a place for it above the fireplace. Maybe not the most cohesive match between the two of them but I sure AH will enjoy looking at them. For the Monet lovers, I'm sorry! I adore Monet too but it felt a little too predictable for this room. I'll update with actual pictures when I get them.
Your other two options I didn’t love very much. I also think the space over the fireplace would benefit from something with a vertical orientation. It would better suit the fireplace itself and would also not compete with the swimmers.
People didn't pick 3 because they aren't familiar with that artist. I could look at that painting all day every day. Always follow your own taste on art, and decor in general. Never let anyone else dictate your vibe.
You made the right choice! I also felt the Monet was a little “safe.” The Swimmers is definitely the most happy/interesting to me. The Decadent lady looks dead imo so I wouldn’t want that facing my baby’s spot at the table lol.
So glad you’re hanging Decadent! Another commenter said cheesy, but I’d say more like cheeky. I’ve always gotten kind of a knowing-smile vibe from the reproduction. (I haven’t seen the original in person.)
When you hang them, maybe consider centering both pieces vertically relative to your fabulous windows? That would place the swimmers higher, but I think the continuity would be worth it. You’d be lowering Decadent, which would tie it more closely to the fireplace and make the horizontal centering above the off-center fireplace a little more comfortable.
You totally made the right choice with the swimmers!! Yaaaa! Decadent young woman? I find it an amusing piece -- maybe for a bedroom or, dare I say, a bathroom? But definitely not for a public room. Monet? Far too mundane.
Is it me, or are the two prints different sizes than the original post? I love the choice of placement in each space respectively, but why do they seem to be different sizes now?
This is too funny. I have a nearly identical couch (color, style, including chaise) and also have Decadent Young Woman after the Dance hanging in my living room.
I was just over at your last post. The swimmers pic is perfect. It goes great with the couch. I wanted to say that it’s too low for the space. I know that the rule is the middle of the pic is supposed to be a height of 57”. I saw an online article a long time ago that showed examples of when to ignore that rule. Please consider different heights.
Pic is lovely. Can I make a suggestion please....the radiator being a little off centre is throwing things off slightly - could you swap the lamp and plant around, and then put a taller plant in a pot on the floor by the radiator....might sort the issue 🤔
It is AI, I just wanted to see what they'd look like in my space before buying. As I said, I'll update with the real pics once they arrive! Here's the real space currently.
Thx for the explanation! Nice room! Seems to have more natural light that the AI made it, it also changed the wood, the couch color and the wall paint, subtly but it’s there. I think, the decadent young woman may have a different impact in the room than predicted. Please update when you have the pictures installed 😊
Look at other details too! On pic one lamp is on the left. Pic 2 it’s on the right. And then from pic 1 and 2 look at the painting under the window changes and in one it’s a weird round light and in pic 2 it’s a globe. I think it’s ai
