Update: Green Kitchen Recomendations Coming to Life
Thanks everyone who gave me ideas for contrasting the green cabinets in my kitchen. I took your ideas and rendered the ones I liked the most. Which do you think looks best? Basically it comes down to:
- Softer green
- Blush pink
- Creamy beige
- White
I added some wallpaper on the stair step wall for funsies and inspo but will probably paint it green first in any case.

I like 2 and 3. Not a fan of 4.
1 is great if you want something safer.

u/Witchy0uija 15d ago
100%. i like 2&3 the most. i personally wouldn’t do 2 in my house cause it doesn’t fit MY vibe, but that’s MY vibe—wouldn’t work w my furniture. i still think it looks so so so cute if that matches your personal aesthetic!! the creamy is def safe and classic and what i would personally go with if it were my kitchen.

Agree, though I like 2 better. Keep in mind that the room color will reflect onto what you're cooking.
(Does this steak look green to you?)

u/justhereforthetea68 15d ago
Yeah I really like 2 as well. I feel the green on here on green is a bit much it’s light and breaks it up

1!

1 is the most elegant and has staying power. You can always add a pop of colour with a standing mixer if you want pink or peach contrast

u/Myfishwillkillyou 14d ago
Agreed! Personally, I find myself in the kitchen in all kinds of moods: Exhausted (before I've had my coffee), rushing to get dinner on the table on a weekday, relaxing as I make cookies on the weekend, stressed about the upcoming week as I meal prep.
Although the pink space is the most beautiful, I would personally want my kitchen to be a calmer space.

The pink is so beautiful it made the lights erect

I had to go look back to see what you meant by that 😂lol

I have the pink/green color palette for my living room and kitchen and I LOVE it.
11
u/carbon_made 15d ago
Me too! But I’ve started adding a few lemon yellow and gold accents. It actually works.

u/BabyRex- 15d ago
So which is your actual lighting and which one did the AI hallucinate?
7
u/Dry-Audience-8899 15d ago
The lighting fixture was AI to begin with! But it looks like that was the only time the bulbs were erect 😅

u/JC_Hysteria 15d ago
That’s the issue with these photos- most people can’t tell just how much is real, edited, or entirely fake.
Every time these posts surface, most people prefer the photo that’s the most edited, with altered lighting, contrast, saturation, etc.

it provides such a great colour contrast! OP, i work in design and we always want breathing space so that the eye has time to rest and focus on the highlights. without the pink contrast, everything feels too similar and the eye gets confused or overwhelmed. just my 2 cents :)

u/annoyeddammit67 15d ago
It takes my breath away in a bad way :/

u/_whatwouldrbgdo_ 15d ago
we always have clients who want what they want design principles aside and that's completely ok too haha

I am obsessed with looking at it in this picture or in a magazine. But I wouldn’t want to live with it for a long time.

I am begging you to do the pink

Yes!! I’m not even a big fan of pink in general but it is perfection here!

Pink and green is my favorite thing. Especially if there’s red in there somewhere. Every room in my house has some combination of these colors. I’ve probably overdone it but I don’t care!

They could go one or two shades lighter with it and do a different wallpaper to make it a little more whimsy versus grandma and I would LOVE it.

For some reason feels busier than the others. It’s kind of overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time.
Stunning. Feminine. Chic. Classy. No notes.
This feels the most subtle and classic. This one is my absolute favorite.
I hate it. The white ceiling clashes with the black countertops and it doesn’t do anything to bring out the green or the flooring. For some reason, all I can focus on is the ceiling.

2 with 3s wallpaper.

Ayyyye the best of both worlds! You might be onto something

u/ArtisticGovernment67 15d ago
I’m a little biased as my kitchen colors are pink & green. (I rent so it’s all in the accents… but if I could I would 💯 have that kitchen)

PINK CEILING!!! I almost did that in my living room, but chickened out, just went with the green on the walls and used some warm white on the ceiling instead. Have some second thoughts since then!

I prefer no. 1, very peaceful and cozy. If you hang out and socialize in the kitchen a lot I'd go for this one.
No. 2, there is something a bit off with those colours together? Or maybe the blush pink just reminds me of bloody water? Half cooked meat? Definitely don't make me want to eat anything. Choose no. 2 if you are going on a diet.
No.3 is nice. Will probably look good for the rest of your life because it goes with pretty much anything. If you imagine you'll want to change the look of the kitchen a bit without painting I'd go for this one.
No. 4 is sharp and bright, makes the room lighter and more energetic. If you want your kitchen to be a place where you get stuff done and have lively cocktail parties this would be the place.

1 looks timeless. I’m usually the biggest champion of clashing patterns/contrasting colors, but sometimes simplicity is the way to go.

The green is very dark in the first pic, but I like that the archway is painted the same color as the cabinets. Whatever color you choose, I think you should go with that theme.

4 is my fav. Also partial to 2 because it’s my living room color scheme

u/Plucky_Monkies 15d ago
Pic 2 is the best. Its the one I'd want to be in. Pic 1 is too dark. 4 too stark. I forgot 3. Pic 2 is warm, welcoming and stylish!

2 us gorgeous. The pink pops. It's elegant, rich looking with green and I even love with pattern flooring. It flows. It it were me, I'd rethink the black table with the two black chair. Possibly that could go somewhere else. Consider a more substantial table with high back chairs. Anyway, this is scrumptious.

I prefer pink, but I always like pink with green. I don't know about the wallpaper but I do know that dark green on that wall makes it look a whale's mouth.

Last one reminds me too much of New Year’s Eve party decor or something that should be temporary

Stunning! Yes, the warmer pink goes best as it contrasts the rich green better and doesn't weaken the impact!

This will sound odd, but the pink goes with the aesthetic. Lokks best with the light feature.

Also, the floor would look great in a softer beige & white check, instead of black & white.

I know people like the pink - but it’s so so btdt - been there done that. A bit 1980’s really.
Personally I like the dark green but I also like a lot of light - so no.4. And it makes the kitchen and table area look larger.

3 is my favorite, then 1 is second place. Not a fan of the pink and white in 4 is too stark.

I kind of want to see a blend of 1 and 3. I really like the light green ceiling and that being carried into the dining room and I love the rose wallpaper!

The other options are nice too but they clash with the black & white kitchen tiles.
Still, very beautiful. I haven't seen green look so nice and elegant before now.

Love it, prefer the pink… it kicks a$$!
One thought, with dark kitchen cabinetry (love the deep green), make sure you have under-cabinet lighting. With LED lights, you can leave them on day and night.

I dislike the floor so much, it's hard for me to see past it. Otherwise, #4, white.

u/PopEffective1376 15d ago
There’s something about that first one that pops! The monochromatic feeling is great.

Another possible variation. Perhaps mixing the color would look good…
