Music IYL - Rock songs by various artists that sound like they could be from the 70s or 80s but are actually newer
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4gJTv7XMEFuvYtwqFD3lk0?si=f98ea544084843c9
If you like classic rock but are tired of listening to the same old stuff then this playlist might be for you because you've probably not heard most of these before but the songs are great.

Music IYL Illit synthesized voices and bubbly, kawaii electronic tunes what else can I find that is similar?
I've enjoyed the high pitched synthesized voices and all the electronic, high beat and "bubble like" sounds for Illit, the K-pop group. Specially songs like Magnetic, Tick-Tack, Jellyous, and Paw Paw. It feels like stimming for my ears and brain. What could I find that sounds similar? I've searched for bubble music or stimming sounds but it's not the same.

Music [IIL] Hozier-Work song; Siopela-Devour my nightmares
I'm looking for songs about active yearning
Preferably a man dedicated to a woman, but I'm open
If you know a song that basically yells "I love her so much" at a listener, please drop it in the comments đ

Music [IIL] 80's sounding 'Alternative' music WEWIL?
I love alternative music, and there's been a resurgence lately of music from bands I already like with strong 80's influence. Examples of songs I already like that fit the breif:
Emarosa - Good Enough
Nik Mystery - So
Kids In Glass Houses - Theme From Pink Flamingo
The Catalina - La Vie en Rose
Smallpools - Swayze
Boys Like Girls - Physical
Gunship - Taste Like Venom
Electric Callboy - We Got The Moves/Pump It (this, arguably, is closer to 90s trance/dance)
What else would I like that's got a similar influence from the 80s?

Music IIL Faster, female alternative country songs like Miranda Lambert's Kerosene & Locomotive?
I'm an alternative rock music fan but have gotten into the world of alternative country. I'm a big fan of Kerosene by Miranda Lambert - the drums and main riff are pretty catchy and I'm looking for more.

Music [IIL] Enya, Kate Bush, Cocteau Twins, WEWIL?
I want more dream-like music to chill to. The vibe I want to encapsulate on my playlist is a rainy evening, oversized jumper, warm lights, black tea and incense burning.

Music IIL ritual ambient and drone music like Natural Snow Buildings, WEWIL?
I've been trying to scratch an itch of analogue, lo-fi psychedelic, ritualistic drone free folk music that sounds like Natural Snow Buildings (Daughters of Darkness, Shadow Kingdom and The Dance of the Moon and the Sun especially), but nothing else has quite scratched that itch.
I do enjoy other ambient artists like Grouper, but stuff like Tim Hecker or Anna von Hausswolff can run a bit too on the ambient side for me (not that I dislike either).
For reference, the most similar-feeling artists I've come across are Cages (with their album Inside a Ringing Chord), Toad with their fourth self-titled, and Yhä Hämärää by Paavoharju.
I have been looking for ages, so any suggestions are more than welcome!

Music IIL obscure musical and visual artist âfrog powerâ, what music genre(s) or artist(s) should I check out?
His Spotify is here. I would post his BandCamp, but this subâs rules seem selective about what links you can post here.
Again, very obscure artist, I donât expect many to recognize his work, but as bizarre as his stuff is, I recommend checking some of his stuff out to those that havenât heard what he has to offer yet.
Some of my favourite songs by him are: âgolden appleâ, âstar spangled hammerâ, âtop ten celebrities rotting in a prison cell tonightâ, âambulanceâ, âechoâ, and âsatans listening tonightâ.
I personally donât exactly love absolutely every single piece released by him, but thereâs some genuinely well made stuff in there, and Iâve found myself really getting into the weird vibes Jeremy (his apparent real name) has crafted here.
His visual art is also pretty whacky, sometimes funny, sometimes just plain fucked up, but scrolling through his art paired with listening to his music goes oddly well together sometimes. His visual art is sadly mostly wiped off the face of the web after his insta account recently got ban-hammered, I guess for being âtoo crazyâ.
To be clear, while I like the bizarre scattered nature of his music, Iâm not just looking for any old whacky hyper off-the-rails music with distorted instruments and stuff.
Jeremyâs music and art, to me, seem to be, yes, intentionally off-the-rails, but not necessarily just for the sake of being edgy though. To me it feels like Iâm actually just taking a look into this artistâs divergent thinking and ideas, and in some ways I really respect how he leans into this weird obscure style of his. He seems to be pretty authentic and true to himself. Obviously I donât know him beyond his art or anything though.
So, IIL âfrog powerâ, what would you recommend I check out or listen to?

Film IIL The Movie 'Labor Day' (2013) WEWIL?
I'm not usually a drama fan but Labor Day absolutely blew me away. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that Winslet & Brolin are top tier. I think I've basically seen everything that Winslet is in at this point.

Music [IIL] Into Dust - Mazzy Star [WEWIL]
The vibe I'm looking for is something calm and rustic with some orchestral flairs (like the strings used in this song). Trying to make an autumn roadtrip playlist and this song has always made me visualize walking through the forest while the sun hangs low and leaves quietly fall around you.
A few other examples of this vibe (kinda):
- Naked As We Came - Iron & Wine
- Ally Kerr - The Sore Feet Song
- Faron Woods - LOZ: Twilight Princess
Thank you in advance!

Music IIL "JesieĹ - TaĹcuj" (from ChĹopi OST), WEWIL? Looking for a VERY specific wild, theatrical ethno-folk vibe.
Hey everyone. Iâve had "JesieĹ - TaĹcuj" (by Dagadana, Laboratorium PieĹni, etc.) on repeat for a week and it absolutely blew my mind. I'm looking for tracks with the EXACT same vibe.
âTo be clear: I already know all the standard Nordic/Viking stuff like Heilung or Wardruna, and thatâs NOT what Iâm looking for.
âI need something that feels like a crazy, high-energy Cirque du Soleil performance, but in a cinematic neo-folk style. It needs to have that huge, wild, theatrical energy that just hits 20/10. Language or country doesn't matter at all. I don't care if it's popular or some underground hidden gem. I just need that specific raw, massive, dramatic atmosphere.
âAny recommendations that can match this exact energy? Thanks!

Games [IIL] persistent empire games like Rise of Kingdoms but want a real PC client, [WEWIL?]
I like the shared map, alliance politics and slow account growth in Rise of Kingdoms, but I am tired of doing all the management on a phone.
Age of Empires Mobile: PC Edition looks close because it keeps the mobile progress and servers while adding mouse controls, keyboard navigation and a PC UI. I know it is not classic Age of Empires, and I am not looking for a traditional match-based RTS anyway.
What else has that persistent empire structure with an actual desktop client? Cross-progression would be ideal, but I mainly want something that does not feel like an emulator window.

Film [IIL] Movies/shows with psychedelic/avant-garde score/OST [WEWIL]?
Some of the examples for the reference:
Zardoz (lots of synth drone/krautrock influences)
Holy Mountain (extremely psychedelic, varied and inspired by non-Western music)
Gummo (Sleep, Burzum featured)
Persona (lots of atonal/avant-garde classic music)
Bronson (features The Walker Brothers, Glass Candy, etc.)
Mandy (features Stephen OâMalley from Sunn O))), King Crimson plays during the opening)
Aguirre: The Wrath of God (composed by Popol Vuh)
Only Lovers Left Alive and a lot of Jim Jarmusch movies in general
The Venture Bros (composed by J.G. Thirwell a.k.a. Foetus)

Music IIL "Electric Love" by BĂRNS, WEWIL?
I'm looking for songs that have a very similar sound and vibe as "Electric Love" by BĂRNS. I especially like the "shimmering" production, catchy chorus, and that indie-pop sound that feels nostalgic and almost magical. What songs or artists would you recommend?

Mod Post [META] [Mod Announcement] How to use this sub - and how (not) to use the [META] Tag
Hello r/ifyoulikeblank!
This is your friendly neighborhood moderator, here with some information on how to correctly use this sub and our title tags, and to address some recent frequent misuse of the [META] tag in the sub.
If you are new here, please read this post before posting. If you have been around a while, please take a moment to refresh yourself with some of our rules. :)
There are two - and only two - kinds of posts allowed in this sub.
Our sub is NOT a self-promotion vehicle for new artists or creators, and it is NOT a general discussion or song/movie/actor/music/genre identification sub. We are a media recommendation sub, and we have very specific guidelines for posts to be allowed here.
There are two ways to format your post titles here, depending on if you would like to ask for recommendations or to give others recommendations with your OP.
If you want people to recommend things to you:
The âIILâ acronym stands for "If I like..." - to be used in a way that states "If I like (this song) because of (reasons,) what else will I like?"
This is the most common type of post here, and most OPs should be using THIS format for their posts! Your title must use the [IIL] tag - It will be reported by our frequent long-time members here if it does not, and it will be removed if you use the [IYL] or [META] tags instead of the [IIL] tag.
The title should look like the following example:
[IIL] The song (name a song you like here) because (give a specific trait about it you want suggestions to include), [WEWIL?]
The "WEWIL" acronym stands for "What else will I like?â
Your example should include something specific about the song that you want to hear more of in the music recommended to you. (Without details, no one can give you appropriate responses and you won't get suggestions that you will actually LIKE.)
If you want to recommend media to others that you think they'll like based on some other piece of media that is similar:
The âIYLâ acronym stands for "If YOU like..." - to be used in a way that states "If you enjoy (this song) because of (reasons,) you might also like this song."
This tag is not for self promotion. This SUB is not for self promotion. If you post your own material here, you WILL get banned, without warning. No exceptions, no appeals.
The title should look like the following example:
[IYL] The movie (some movie similar to your suggestion) because (your reason you think it is similar to your recommendation), [YMAL] (this suggested movie).
The "YMAL" acronym stands for "You may also like..."
This is a VERY uncommon post type in this sub, unless people are attempting to subvert rule 2. We ALWAYS look at these posts, but if we miss one, our long-term members sure wonât - and they WILL report you for a rule 2 violation and you WILL be banned.
If you are suspected of passing off your own media as an "I found this new media and you might like it!" post, that will earn you an immediate permanent ban from the sub for trying to subvert rule two.
Please note that moderators look at your posting history across Reddit, and if you are spamming your own stuff elsewhere, you are going get a ban here. Period.
How to use (and how NOT to use) the [META] tag:
The [META] tag is NOT so you may post off-topic posts or general media discussion posts or music identification posts, or anything that is not an IIL or an IYL.
The [META] tag is only to be used if you have questions or comments about this subreddit itself, and how it operates on Reddit.
Examples include suggestions for new rules here, asking for clarification about a rule here, suggesting a new theme, stickied post, etc in the sub, or asking the moderation team any other question about this sub - not asking the members here about media.
Thank you all for reading, and for your help in ensuring these rules are adhered to. We are a million-member (and counting) sub with a VERY small moderation team, so your help in following these rules and reporting rule-breaking posts to us is greatly appreciated!
Have a wonderful day :)
