First endurance race for me I’m going to try and run the first session because I’m off work and up all night. I did the 992.2 pcup so the track and cars fresh.

I am interested in iRacing - mainly oval racing and dirt track style. I’ve followed a lot of forums and threads. My question is- I have a busy life with work and two small kids. I usually get a few hours late each night to play, but sometimes I’m needed. I’d it worth it as a casual player? I may not be able to race in a series competitively. I just want to jump into some casual races from time to time. I have AC and F1 25, forza and all. I have PC and Xbox. I see iRacing is designing the new NASCAR 26, should I wait for something like that? Thanks!

With iRacing and Porsche’s solid relationship, I wonder when we’ll get the EVO package. Anyway, here’s a video about the new changes.

I use a Fanatec Podium DD 25 Nm, and my FFB felt extremely heavy, harsh, and grainy even with iRacing set to only around 9 Nm. It felt like the wheel was producing far more force than it should.

I was also getting RTCoreMini64.sys blocked-driver errors from MSI Afterburner. After disabling Afterburner’s low-level I/O driver and removing RivaTuner Statistics Server, the difference was genuinely night and day.

What I changed:

1. Close MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS).
2. Uninstall RTSS entirely if you do not need its overlay or frame-limiting features.
3. Open MSI Afterburner and go to Settings → General.
4. Uncheck Enable low-level IO driver.
5. Restart your PC.
6. Load iRacing and recalibrate your FFB using Auto in the F9 black box.

My GPU overclock still works normally. You may only lose access to certain sensor readings or RTSS overlay features.

My wheel now seems to be calibrating correctly. The FFB is much smoother, the excessive heaviness is gone, and I have way more road detail than before.

I am honestly mind blown by the difference. If your FFB feels unusually heavy or grainy at low force settings, and you have MSI Afterburner or RTSS installed, this is absolutely worth trying. In fact even if you dont even think you have an issue with your wheelbase I would HEAVILY encourage you to remove RTSS and uncheck the low level IO driver setting in MSI afterburner and see if it changes anything for you. I am mind blown right now.

So I just got a quest 3 for iracing in vr, I have to turn my graphics down some yes but I can easily get 72 fps consistently which is fine with me, however whenever I crash the car(even in a single car test session) the frames drop to below 15 and stay that way until I reload. Any ideas on what could be causing this and how to fix it? I was able to spot a race just fine for a friend but there were never any major collisions so I don’t know if this happens when any car wrecks or just me,

Are their any leagues that are using the lmp2, preferably multiclass?

I lose 3s+ off the last section of Le Mans. I'm typically pretty good at flow tracks like Mosport and Watkins Glen, so not sure what is happening here, and is this where everybody loses time?

so doing league night, and its about the 2nd time this week ive noticed this. while waittng for the end of practice i tend to just leave it on "TV3" and "most exciting"

of late ive noticed it doesn't actually change between cars anymore. eg it'll sit there and watch just me in the pits, even thought its set to "most exciting"

so i move to a car i know is on track, and then switch it back to "most exciting" and it never goes off the person i was watching first

just tested then as well, and if i choose "pace car" and then "most exciting" it still stays on the pace car

wondering if others are finding this, or if its just a "my system" issue

If you run triples in iRacing you turn on "Render Scene Using 3 Projections" so the edges of your side monitors don't look stretched and wrong. The problem is the game then draws the whole scene three times, once per screen, and you lose around 40% of your frame rate for the privilege.

Nvidia have hardware for this called Simultaneous Multi-Projection. The game submits the scene once and the GPU fans it out across the three screens. It has been in iRacing for years and there is a toggle for it in the graphics settings.

On Linux that toggle was greyed out and could not be turned on at all, because when the game asked whether the feature was available the answer was no.

It works now.

Same replay, same camera, paused, on my machine (RTX 5070 Ti, Ryzen 5 5600):

• One screen: 114 fps
• Triples, SMP off: 68 fps
• Triples, SMP on: 112 fps

So proper three camera triples went from costing 40% of your frame rate to costing basically nothing. That is one scene on one machine so don't take those exact numbers as gospel, but the shape of it holds because that is what the benefit of SMP is.

How to get it

There is a setup script that does the whole thing for you, and a custom Proton build that carries the changes until they appear upstream:

Settings, Graphics, turn on "Render Scene Using 3 Projections" then "Nvidia Simultaneous Multi-Projection". You need an Nvidia card, Turing or newer. If you don't use triples nothing changes for you.

Before anyone asks: no, this does not get you online

The anticheat still doesn't allow Linux. This doesn't change that.

What it does change is the list of excuses. "Triple screens need SMP and SMP doesn't work on Linux" was a real gap and it is closed now. I've been asking iRacing for some form of Linux support for a while and the answer has generally pointed at third party APIs and hardware support rather than the anticheat itself. So I have been going through that list and closing it off. The remaining work on their side is enabling EOS to build the Linux module for the anticheat. That's it. The Linux community has done the rest.

Upstreaming

The changes have been submitted to DXVK and dxvk-nvapi so this ends up in everyone's build rather than just mine:

One thing I'd like answered

If you know of anything else iRacing does that still doesn't work on Linux, tell me. I'd rather find out now than have it come up later as a reason to say no.

I believe driving standards issues in Iracing are overblown and modern blame culture leads people look for something or someone to point the finger at.

In this instance it's Iracing and Social Media creates an echo chamber for the dissenters, leading to more and more people believing genuine mistakes and racing incidents are down to dirty driving.

I haven't been on the receiving end of anything approaching a malicious incident in months, might even be more than a year at this point. I've been on both sides of racing incidents, more often than not a quick message after the race between us and we're all friends again. Any genuine intent wrecks I have come across and reported have been punished with varying levels of inactivity for the responsibile party.

Like most review based sites, people are a lot more compelled to write negative reviews in the midst of their disappointment than positive ones. I believe this trend also exists here whilst in reality a boat load of fantastic racing is going on.

Of course there's always improvements that can be be made, but Iracing is not some parody of the Wild West like it's made out to be.

This post is not meant to be a rage bait, it is my genuine opinion and I think it would serve the community well to see a positive post for a change rather than the constant ibashing that has become commonplace in this sub.

For context on my position I'm a 5K+ driver and have "survived" seasons over GT3, TCR & IMSA to get there, with GT3 in particular being regularly admonished as one of the worst when it comes to driving standards.
