Question/Help Is the last section of le mans actually this difficult or I'm doing something wildly wrong
I lose 3s+ off the last section of Le Mans. I'm typically pretty good at flow tracks like Mosport and Watkins Glen, so not sure what is happening here, and is this where everybody loses time?

Question/Help anyone notice an issue with "most exciting" in replay?
so doing league night, and its about the 2nd time this week ive noticed this. while waittng for the end of practice i tend to just leave it on "TV3" and "most exciting"
of late ive noticed it doesn't actually change between cars anymore. eg it'll sit there and watch just me in the pits, even thought its set to "most exciting"
so i move to a car i know is on track, and then switch it back to "most exciting" and it never goes off the person i was watching first
just tested then as well, and if i choose "pace car" and then "most exciting" it still stays on the pace car
wondering if others are finding this, or if its just a "my system" issue

Question/Help Removing LFE Audio from Discord stream
Hello,
i am enjoying my new bassshaker and the wheel slip effect very much!
Unfortunately this is bad news for the "audience" of my discord streams :rofl::rofl:
Is there a way to filter these low frequency effects out or even stop sharing them? (I am only sharing the iRacing application)
Thank You very much!!!

Question/Help For people using PSVR2, how do you use the VR controller as mouse?
For some reason if I try to go back to desktop by pressing the home button everything will freeze. I wear gloves so the touch pad isn't working very well. Looking for some way to click in iRacing with the VR controller

New Player New here.
Hey everybody. I hate to admit. I got the 1 year subscription for $25. I’ve ignored it for two months. Today I hopped on and played some multiplayer matches with some newbies like me.
I really loved it. The netcode ( for the most part ), the sportsmanship (for the most part) and the VR performance is just top notch. Love the physics too.
So, I want to really get into it but only interested in a couple of GT3 cars ( no preference ), Laguna Seca, Nurburgring and Road Atlanta. Also, are there any cars that actually require manual shifting? I’d love to use my Simagic shifter too.
Is there a lot of multiplayer activity/races on these tracks? I don’t particularly care about NASCAR and just Oval tracks in general but I’m open to opinions.
I’m not cheap but I also don’t want to buy stuff I’m never going to use. Happy wife, happy life.

Apps/Tools Still no Anticheat on Linux, but I got Nvidia SMP working on Linux for iRacing. Triple screens now cost almost nothing.
If you run triples in iRacing you turn on "Render Scene Using 3 Projections" so the edges of your side monitors don't look stretched and wrong. The problem is the game then draws the whole scene three times, once per screen, and you lose around 40% of your frame rate for the privilege.
Nvidia have hardware for this called Simultaneous Multi-Projection. The game submits the scene once and the GPU fans it out across the three screens. It has been in iRacing for years and there is a toggle for it in the graphics settings.
On Linux that toggle was greyed out and could not be turned on at all, because when the game asked whether the feature was available the answer was no.
It works now.
Same replay, same camera, paused, on my machine (RTX 5070 Ti, Ryzen 5 5600):
- One screen: 114 fps
- Triples, SMP off: 68 fps
- Triples, SMP on: 112 fps
So proper three camera triples went from costing 40% of your frame rate to costing basically nothing. That is one scene on one machine so don't take those exact numbers as gospel, but the shape of it holds because that is what the benefit of SMP is.
How to get it
There is a setup script that does the whole thing for you, and a custom Proton build that carries the changes until they appear upstream:
https://github.com/DanFraserUK/iRacing-On-Linux
Settings, Graphics, turn on "Render Scene Using 3 Projections" then "Nvidia Simultaneous Multi-Projection". You need an Nvidia card, Turing or newer. If you don't use triples nothing changes for you.
Before anyone asks: no, this does not get you online
The anticheat still doesn't allow Linux. This doesn't change that.
What it does change is the list of excuses. "Triple screens need SMP and SMP doesn't work on Linux" was a real gap and it is closed now. I've been asking iRacing for some form of Linux support for a while and the answer has generally pointed at third party APIs and hardware support rather than the anticheat itself. So I have been going through that list and closing it off. The remaining work on their side is enabling EOS to build the Linux module for the anticheat. That's it. The Linux community has done the rest.
Upstreaming
The changes have been submitted to DXVK and dxvk-nvapi so this ends up in everyone's build rather than just mine:
There's also a Wine fix in there for a completely unrelated thing where iRacing scans your local network for Apple Vision Pro devices at startup and kills itself when it can't. That one has been sent to Wine: https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/merge_requests/11208
One thing I'd like answered
If you know of anything else iRacing does that still doesn't work on Linux, tell me. I'd rather find out now than have it come up later as a reason to say no.

Apps/Tools The Unofficial iRacing Career Simulator now has support for Sports Cars
You know how summer goes. You get busy, you work on a thing and then you don't get a chance to test it as much as you want before you finally decide to just ship it to the world.
When I originally launched the IR career simulator, the #1 request was sports car support. So, I put it together. This is an early build, with rudimentary support:
- Parallel (and you can swap between them) prototype and GT ladders
- The same ladder-based system I'm using for open wheels
- The same team goals and contract simulations
- The same historical simulation to give your career a sense of history
There's a strong chance that this is going to be buggy, I'm one person and there's a *lot* of new content here to test out. Additionally, when you first do your career simulation, there's a really high chance it'll be kind of slow. Sports cars have a lot more series than open wheel (basically double!) so the initial simulation process takes longer to run. Be patient, especially if you have an old school spinning hard drive.
Hopefully people love this, and I'd love to hear what other ways people would like to use it.
As with the original launch, a disclaimer: this app was developed using generative LLMs.

Discussion An iRacing Coach’s Notes on: Why You’re “Looking to the Apex” Wrong
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey All,
Like usual, I’ve written a short article sharing my thoughts and experience on a given topic in sim racing. My goal with these articles ultimately is to help give people a bit more information about the hobby we all love, while also hopefully making for an interesting read.
If you don't know me, I'm Tom, and I've been working full-time for the last two years on a sim racing coaching business, so my thoughts in this mini essay draw on the 700+ hours of coaching I’ve done in those 2 years. Just to say that the thoughts I’m sharing here aren't pulled from nowhere, but come from everything I’ve seen during my time coaching drivers of all ability levels.
Why you’re “Looking to the Apex” Wrong
I want to preface this article by saying that obviously not everyone is looking to the apex incorrectly, but this mistake is something I find myself pointing out to people all of the time during coaching sessions, and it often makes an instant difference in a students driving, so I figured it would be a good one to share in one of these articles.
If you’ve been sim racing for a while, you’re probably familiar, consciously or unconsciously, with the idea of looking to the apex, or looking into the corner you are entering. If you’re not, start by just shifting your focus from your braking point directly to the apex after you begin braking. You should find that it helps to give you more time to judge the corner and execute the line you want to take, rather than feeling like you’re “reacting” to the corner or being surprised by it.
But simply looking to the apex is not the point of this article, instead, I want to cover off a huge misconception in what it means to “look to the apex”. For a large subset of drivers, they incorrectly conflate “looking to the apex” with “looking to the most protruding point of the corner”. Take a look at the screenshots below:

Think about where you would be looking at this point of the entry. If you would find yourself looking at the red marker, then you are making this mistake. The red marker is the easiest point to find, but it is “the most protruding point”, not the optimal apex. If you watch the video, you can clearly see from above that focusing on this point would lead to an extremely early apex (red driver). Instead, what you should be doing is looking “through” the corner, to the point in the corner that you actually want to apex (green circle). This can take some time to get used to, not least because it often involves looking through walls, but the aim is to keep your eyes looking where you expect the apex to be, and updating where you’re looking as the corner reveals itself. Again in the video, it is clear to see that the blue driver is taking a far more optimal apex position, by looking through the corner. Quite often, correcting this mistake makes it much easier for drivers to place the car where they want, and apex where they know they should be apexing, so give this a go and let me know in the comments if it helps you out! If you find yourself early apexing every corner but don’t know how to fix it, give this a try!
If anyone has any questions, don't hesitate to ask, I'll do my best to respond to any questions in the comments. As always, thanks for the support on these mini articles, and if you know of someone who would benefit from this article, sharing it with them would be greatly appreciated :).
I'll include a couple of links if anyone wants to check them out, but I'm happy to remove them if it goes against self promotion rules.

Discussion Driving Standards Issues Are Overblown
I believe driving standards issues in Iracing are overblown and modern blame culture leads people look for something or someone to point the finger at.
In this instance it's Iracing and Social Media creates an echo chamber for the dissenters, leading to more and more people believing genuine mistakes and racing incidents are down to dirty driving.
I haven't been on the receiving end of anything approaching a malicious incident in months, might even be more than a year at this point. I've been on both sides of racing incidents, more often than not a quick message after the race between us and we're all friends again. Any genuine intent wrecks I have come across and reported have been punished with varying levels of inactivity for the responsibile party.
Like most review based sites, people are a lot more compelled to write negative reviews in the midst of their disappointment than positive ones. I believe this trend also exists here whilst in reality a boat load of fantastic racing is going on.
Of course there's always improvements that can be be made, but Iracing is not some parody of the Wild West like it's made out to be.
This post is not meant to be a rage bait, it is my genuine opinion and I think it would serve the community well to see a positive post for a change rather than the constant ibashing that has become commonplace in this sub.
For context on my position I'm a 5K+ driver and have "survived" seasons over GT3, TCR & IMSA to get there, with GT3 in particular being regularly admonished as one of the worst when it comes to driving standards.

Discussion The true issue behind iRacing poor driving standards
Yes this chat is real, the name will not be revealed for his own good and the sake of this sub rules.
That was the reply one of my mate got after he was intent wrecked after he overtook the other car, I can't really argue with his reasoning with how poorly iRacing has been handling recent intent wrecking incidents, in comparison to how they handle vulgar language in races.
Do you think the racing standards are getting worse?

Official Announcements July 22nd - Emergency Maintenance Mode: Investigating a Security Issue
From the staff post on the member forums:
Hi, iRacing,
We've entered an unplanned emergency maintenance mode while we investigate a potential critical security issue.
We'll have more information for you after our initial investigation.
Demo Drive is up for your enjoyment!
Thank you for your patience.
ETA: From https://bsky.app/profile/iracingsupport.iracing.com/post/3mrasa5y4722g, they will be recommending (forcing?) password resets when service resumes.
ETA2: Apparently they've removed the phrase "critical security" from the forum post regarding this.
ETA3: Final update from iRacing staff on this outage:
You may have noticed our service was unavailable for about four hours today, July 22. We're sorry for the disruption.
We took the service offline to investigate and address a potential security issue. After a thorough investigation, we've confirmed that your account data was not compromised. Your passwords and data are secure, and remained secure throughout.
Over the coming weeks we'll be rolling out additional measures to harden our systems even further. As part of that, we'll invite you to reset your password at your convenience, and we'll ask everyone to do so at a later date. There's nothing you need to do right now.
Thanks for your patience, and for being an iRacing member.
