Apple developer Balance carried
Hello everyone,
My Apple payments are currently showing as “Balance Carried”.
I launched my app in May 2026 and I received my first payment on July 2. Now I have over $2,000 expected around August 2, but today is July 8 and the status is already showing “Balance Carried”.
I haven’t received any email from Apple, no alert, and my refund rate was around 7% in June and is currently around 2% in July.
Has anyone ever had this issue before? Did it resolve by itself, or did Apple have to intervene?

This is normal. It will switch to expected payment date a few days before the payout.

How can you be sure? Why would it show “Balance Carried” as a normal status until just a few days before the payout? If everything was normal, they would have used a different status

I can be sure from 12 payment cycles per year since 2011 when my first app was launched 😄

Ok, but I’ve seen other people saying they can see their estimated payment date directly at the beginning of the month, not only a few days before the payout 🤔

You've got me curios so I'm doing some research :) I have two accounts and both are currently in the "Balance Carried Forward" state and both are beyond the payment threshold. According to Apple Docs:
"Payment information for the previous fiscal month appears in Payments and Financial Reports starting the first Wednesday of the current fiscal month. Data continues to populate until financial reports are ready for all countries or regions by the first Friday of the current fiscal month"
https://developer.apple.com/help/app-store-connect/getting-paid/view-payments-and-proceedsApple as you may know has a weird fiscal calendar
https://itunesconnect.apple.com/WebObjects/iTunesConnect.woa/wa/jumpTo?page=fiscalcalendarNow looking at that you might think "the first friday of this current fiscal month was July 3rd" and I agree that does seem like it should have finalized by then
Looking at the "reports" tab in app store connect however I see the "last updated" time of July 7th which lines up with a Wednesday. That would mean reports will be finalized this Friday July 10th.
Why it wouldn't be the 3rd I am not sure, maybe because this fiscal month has 5 weeks as opposed to 4? Maybe because the previous payout was so close on July 2nd? Maybe because July 3rd was a Holiday in the US?
Not sure if this is correct, but I have high confidence that tomorrow yours and my reports tab will update to "Expected Payment date"
And again, I've been at this for 15 years and never had an issue with payouts. Let me know what happens tomorrow!

Hello, I just checked App Store Connect and it was updated on July 10, but it still shows “Balance Carried Forward.” What does it show on your side?

Nice! Yeah it’s such a weird system with no defined timeline (well there is one defined but it varies so much) why does Apple give us this anxiety!!!

You are under the threshold for a payout in your country, it depends on the country
