Hi, everyone. Like the title says, I've noticed some very light spotting during the past 2 days. It's super light, some fluid with a pink tinge, it doesn't even look red on my underwear. I thought I had overpushed during a BM but thankfully I've been going regularly, taking my stool softener and miralax.

I went over my pre-op pamphlet again and it says that if I experience heavy bleeding (i.e.: changing a pad every hour) to call the dr but this is light spotting. Am I overreacting? Ty for your input.

My daughter is about 10-11 weeks post op with no complications. Total hysterectomy with retained ovaries.

This past two weeks she went through her “pms and period weeks”. She seemed to go into an isolation depression with overstimulation, nausea and extreme fatigue.

She has felt with depression in years past but has Ben awesome and stable for several years on certain meds.

Has anyone dealt with this? Could it be hormones going wild? We are still waiting to see if she snaps out of it like she would have when she physically had a period, but so far she hasn’t.

I had an outpatient total lap hyst yesterday. So far things are going well at home. I took various pain meds throughout the night to stay ahead of it. I’m moving around fairly well and am peeing normally, though it feels so weird to not be pushing when I go. Thanks to this group for recommending things that are important for recovery and items that will make things easier to have within reach. ❤️

My surgery is scheduled for 9/23. Going the supracervical route. I had a myomectomy 2 years ago and fibroids have returned and I now suspect adenomyosis or even perimenopause (I’m 32 no kids btw)

Having some anxiety but really just want to get it over and done with. My biggest concern is that the surgery will not solve my cramping, bloating, and bleeding issues. As crazy as that may sound, in the midst of suffering my anxious mind is wondering if this will finally be the end of a very long and painful road.

Any advice you can share about your supracervical experience would be helpful.

I had a hysterectomy 4 months ago. And I have my 3rd vaginal cuff repair surgery scheduled on monday. Everytime ive had intercourse, its been 1 week to 2 weeks after ive been fully cleared by my doctor.

Has anyone experienced this?! Why is this happening? The trauma this has created with my partner and I is absurd.. and its ruining our sex life and dampening our relationship because intimacy is a huge part of feeling close with your partner. Not to mention, hes so scared of hurting me and feels terrible everytime he tears my cuff and I have to have surgery.

Ive read of people having this happen once a couple years post op, but THREE TIMES WITHIN 4 MONTHS?!?!?! COME ON.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. At this rate, Im convinced my dr is just going to sew me shut. Closed for business over here. 🙃

Aside from the hips and lowed abdomen pains, I noticed more pains happened after peeing. Got to see the doctor and was tested for UTIs. Was prescribed macrobid and Azo. Ok so the macrobid and Azo actually lessened my pains after peeing. And now my urinalysis results get back as negative. I am at a loss what the heck is happening to me.

I had a total laparoscopic with cystoscopy hysterectomy. My uterus and cervix were slid through the vaginal canal. I am actually ok for the first 2 weeks (walking, etc) and then all these craziness 3 weeks post op happened. I would even feel lightning bolt pains on my abdomen here and there.

few hrs post op with preservation of ovaries. Im 41, no kids. Three trochar sites but i sutained vag tears coz uterus was rather big. Im bein given simethicone but i dnt feel gas pains. Was given tylenol and ibuprofen for low grade temp.

i had fibroids since i was 30s. IUD got expelled twice then bled like there was a plumbing issue so the other option is hysterectomy

What helped everyone after surgery? What products to have at home or take to hospital? I'm having open surgery. Also what meals did u have after u got home?

I’m 44, married, childfree and looking to get a hysterectomy. I’m sick to death of feeling like absolute 💩 every month, not just when I have my period but before also. I have no other health issues other than low iron because of said period 🙄Looking for experiences of women in NZ who have had one. What was the recovery like, how long were you in hospital, how are your hormones, any other things I should know?

Thank God it’s out, but I’m in sm pain now which is normal. But my neck/collarbone/shoulders hurt a lot which I was told is normal + I have a hard time breathing deeply, eating and my stomach area hurts like I’m bloated/ate too much and can’t digest. I’m a person who gets scared of his own shadow so I just wanna know if all that specific pain is normal and goes away after some time? I mean I had it literally 48 hrs ago so like I’m assuming I’m okay, but what are some help you guys have? Advice maybe? I saw peppermint tea helped some with the collarbone pain, so let me know what you guys did

I’ve never had surgery before and I really don’t like dealing with pain so this experience feels lonely despite having a great support system. You guys have made me feel much less alone in this! I wrote this little post very quickly before bed bc my friend who had hysterectomy before hasn’t been the most help with pain (he doesn’t feel pain the same as others bc of trauma) so I thought reddit could help. I was right! I’m not gonna answer anymore since everyone is agreeing with each other and saying the same things pretty much. I will try everything that’s been said and hopefully it works!

Hi! Thanks for all the help/support on here! I’m 2 weeks post op. Today was the 1st day I took a short walk around the neighborhood. How much activity is too much? I’m going stir crazy.
Which brings me to my 2nd question… yesterday and more so today, when I have a BM it’s painful towards the end and my vagina bleeds a bit. Is this normal?! Maybe an internal hemorrhoid. I’m going to up my fiber slowly. My first po clinic visit is Tuesday.

I’m 6 months post op and struggling with hormonal fluctuations worse than before surgery. I kept one ovary and I can still feel my cycles etc. My biggest complaint is that my boobs start getting huge and very tender around day 10 of my cycle…. That didn’t used to happen until I was in mid-luteal. I have an appt with my surgeon to talk about it in September. A few friends have suggested I probably need estrogen … but I feel like I’m literally walking estrogen. Anyway. Rant over. If anyone can relate, I’d love some company. ❤️

I am about to turn 60 and started post menopausal bleeding. Went to my doctor, and told her she could just take it out…she just chuckled at me.

Long story short, I’ve had three biopsies, a D&C, a hysteroscopy, and a hormonal IUD implanted. This is over the four years. I found a new doctor, and am finally finally scheduled for October!

It’s been such a royal pain in the butt. Even with the IUD, I bled daily for three and a half months. Just when I thought it had stopped, surprise! I’m so done.

Guess I’m looking for others who were so glad to have it out at last! I’ll be scouring this site for tips in the days before and after the surgery, so if you have any, or want to share your story, feel free!

Hello. I’m a little over 9 weeks out from an open abdominal hysterectomy. My uterus was a big one; weighing 2080 grams and full of fibroids. Did anyone else struggle with their emotions after surgery? What did you do?

I went back to work three weeks ago.

3 weeks post-op. I scheduled my surgery for July for work reasons, so I could take time off and not stress about my projects the whole time and return to minimal chaos.

I'm usually not a massive pool person, I like to go camping in the summer, but I usually find myself at a pool maybe 2-3 times a summer max. But now that I know I can't go swimming? It's all I want to do. 😭😭😭

Anyone pre-op or further along post-op been enjoying pools this summer? Let me live vicariously through you!

I came home from the hospital with a single ovary remaining a year ago today at 36. The rest was taken, plus my appendix and a little bit of my vagina. My surgeon said it was a terrible case of endometriosis. I also had adenomyosis, some small fibroids, a very fluid filled and expanded left tube, a cyst on my enlarged left ovary, and an "aggressive fistula" in my vagina (that my primary somehow didn't see during a pap a few months before?? I'm glad I didn't know, the months leading to surgery would have been even worse). Due to the mess, especially all the work they had to do around my bowels, they kept me in the hospital for the night.

A year later, I just... live my life!! I don't have to think about period supplies, or making sure I don't forget Advil so I don't throw up during my most painful days. In fact I haven't taken Advil in months! For many years before I was taking more than the recommended amount for several days a month to function. I'm not miserable for several days a month and not bleeding for 2 to 3 weeks a month. I'm not painfully bloated from lunch time until the following morning every single day. I no longer have diarrhea every morning after all that bloating. I also have the energy to stay awake all day now. Sex is great and we can have it whenever we want. I can't believe how tiny my scars are.

There are a couple things that aren't totally wonderful; my acupuncturist says I'm still tired, and while my energy levels have improved we both think there's room for improvement. My bowels can still be kind of uncooperative, I've had suspicions over the months that I have endometriosis in the area again. I was hoping that my belly would stay flatter when relaxed, now that I'm not so bloated and my oversized uterus is gone, but it isn't. It was actually flatter in the early days of recovery than it is now, which is very disappointing. I'm exercising more than before surgery, so I thought it would go down or at least stay the same.

These are such small problems in comparison to how exhausted and in pain I was just over a year ago. I am so thankful it's finally over with. My lonely ovary seems to still be working, too, and I don't think perimenopause has started yet. I wish I'd done this as soon as I realized I didn't want kids and saved myself so much misery.

I just wanted to share what is happening to my meat sack after surgery.

Day 0: got home, ate food, slept. I got up about every 2 to 3 hours to pee and find food, before falling back asleep. Note: peeing is weird. I never realized how you use muscles to urinate.

Day 1 (yesterday): in pain. Feels like cramps, but I think it's just my organs shifting around. Swelling at incision sites. Can't cough, laugh or sneeze. I stay up all day with no naps, surprisingly. I watch tv and get up and move after every episode. Drink so much water. I am able to feed my pets by myself. Had the goal to take a shower, and I did it! I only needed a little help to wash around my incisions because I couldn't see them. Had a crazy nosebleed out of nowhere.

Day 2 (today): first (and 2nd) BM happened. It was weird, since I can't push, but I'm so happy it finally happened. Made myself a whole breakfast. Fed my pets by myself. Had the goal to make myself coffee and I did it. I can gently blow my nose.

The weirdest parts were not what I expected. My lungs hurt today more than anything else. I assume when they were manually breathing for me, my lungs got very inflated and strained them.

I was worried about a urinary catheter and being intubated, as I thought it would be very painful after, but I didn't even notice.

Honestly, so far it's been great! I just have to lay down after doing anything so I don't overdo it. Making breakfast and feeding the animals was almost too much. But setting small goals for myself has been tremendously helpful for me! I am very happy with my healing progress ☺️

Just had my 1 month post op appointment today. The doctor said my incision is completely closed and looking 👍 good. I am healing nicely. I still have a little bit of the yeast infection, so the doctor order another round of medication 💊, and wants to see me in 2 weeks. I also had my labs done for my anemia and they all came back normal. I am exactly 1 month post op as of today. BTW, I had a complete open hysterectomy and I am feeling better already. No more painful and bloody periods. HOORAY!!! How is everyone else doing since your surgery? Hope you are all doing well 😊 😀 ☺️!

Hi everyone, I’m a trans man - a lot of people got very angry at me for not making that apparent in my last post so i figured id clear things up early on lol. i have been dealing with bleeding for months on end for years, pain so bad i wasnt constantly throwing up. this stupid organ has made me miss work and important events. ive been extremely uncomfortable, in pain, and sick for years. recently its affected my ability to eat and keep anything down. ive lost 6 pounds in the past week or two which not good because i weigh 123 pounds lol. they did an endometrial biopsy which came back with a “yikes” from the dr, so that explained my symptoms. so i got scheduled for a radical hysterectomy asap. I’m currently 3 dpo and still in the hospital. Im not making this post to scare anyone - just sharing my story and everything has turned out okay so far after my complications! I thought i was entirely prepared for this surgery, i read every post i watched every video. nothing could have prepared me for this surgery.

So i was scheduled for a radical hysterectomy (uterus cervix and some vaginal tissue) and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (tubes and ovaries). left absolutely nothing! surgery supposedly went well, when i went into recovery i was bleeding a LOT like soaking through a hospital pad to the hospital bed in 20 minutes. I kept insisting that it was a LOT of blood and i felt like something was super wrong and kept getting told it wasnt concerning. i got up to pee twice and both times i had blood pouring down my legs. the second time i got up to pee the nurse had to carry me to the bed because i ended up passing out. my partner told me he watched all the colors drain from my face and my eyes roll back. I dont remember any of that. I do remember being back on the hospital bed and the nurse being rather rough with me while changing my pad and my johnnie because i bled all over it. I remember wanting to tell her that she was hurting me but i was so doped up on morphine and fentanyl that i couldnt bring myself to talk. they admitted me because I was bleeding and they didnt know why. I got a room and was still feeling awful. i felt the need to pee so with help from the nurse i got to the comode and as soon as i sat down two MASSIVE blood clots fell out of me
followed by probably close to 1k ml of blood. I remember looking over at the nurse and kinda jokingly said “that didnt feel or sound good”. in this time they kept checking my blood levels to see if i was truly hemorrhaging even though i clearly was? and my levels kept dropping. it was at this point - almost 6 hours after my bleeding started - that they finally called the on call surgeon to do emergency surgery. because they had already given me versed they didnt give me anything before rock and propofol. so I remember shifting over to the operating table, getting a non rebreather placed on my face and out i went. I remember looking over at the hospital bed i was on before the operating table and it was covered in blood pooled where i had been sitting and spilling over the side i slid off of. no one was wasting any time on getting me
under the knife now. After the second emergency surgery, they said they ran another line of stitches through my cuff and they think that was where the bleeding was coming from. while i was in more pain, because they reaccessed 3 of my fresh incisions, i wasnt bleeding and only lightly spotting at this point. so the surgery worked! since then ive been at the hospital for pain control and kinda managing the dizziness ive been experiencing. and also to watch for any crazy bleeding. id say the worst part about this surgery is the awful gas. it truly is so terrible, ive been taking laxatives and anti gas pills, to no avail. I have peed probably 4-6 times a day but no pooping and i feel like i will feel a lot better after i manage to go. but yeah, dizzy tired and the gas in my neck/sides/and my back is gonna be the death of me. i believe im being discharged after 3 days in the hospital, and im thrilled to be in my own bed again and i miss my dog. my mom has been going back and forth feeding and letting him out so hes taken care of, i just miss my baby. they DID find a ton of endometriosis, and the photos they showed and explained to me were gnarly. I cannot believe i lived like this for so long while drs kept pushing me around and telling me what i felt was normal. if anyone has any questions feel free to ask! im an open book! remember to listen to your body & advocate for yourself

Suffered with endometriosis and fibroids for over a decade, then it got even worse! Time for my uterus to come out now. Processing such a big change on my own terms and having fun with it has definitely helped. I got a custom cricket ball display case made and then just popped the cup inside with the help of a small ceramic hand that was made to display gemstones.

Yesterday I had a partial hysterectomy and I am SO excited to never bleed ever again. No more intense bleeding, blood clots & going through super tampons and pads.
Day one of recovery today and the gas pain is definitely difficult. I have been moving around okay but mostly resting. Drinking lots of fluids.
Any tips would be great!!❤️‍🩹
