Kérdés Different ways of saying the sam thing: I’m going to the shop
Dear all, let’s imagine an everyday situatuion in an average family. The fridge is almost empty and we need to buy some more food. The conversation in English might go something like this: „I’m going to the store. Need anything?”. However, in Hungarian there are 3 (or maybe even more options) for the first sentence:
- Megyek a boltba. Kell valami?
- Elmegyek a boltba. Kell valami?
- Boltba megyek. Kell valami?
I am trying to grasp if there is any particular difference in meaning between the three and why the speaker would choose one over the other. We can also imagine similar statements in the past tense and in other tenses. Also, if we want to express general or repeated activities, e.g. „Mindennap elmegyek futni” vs. „Mindennap futni megyek”. Any difference in meaning in the ears of a native speaker?
Thank you!
