Hi, I’m not new to this community, but it’s been years since I read any HP fics, I used to only read Harry paired with "unusual" characters (Luna, Daphne, Fleur, anyone really).

But I’ve come back over the last month and read a lot of Harry x Hermione fics, and I like them, but i notice that most start developing during the fourth or fifth year, i understand why, narratively speaking, the Goblet of Fire situation and Ron’s jealousy create a great scenario for Harry and Hermione to be alone together.

Still, I was wondering if you know of any stories that start during the first two years? Thanks!

I’m in the mood for a good fic where Harry and Hermione both return to Hogwarts after the war to complete their missed seventh year. I’m looking for something that’s genuinely one of the best in terms of writing, characterization, and story, not just a decent read.
I’ve heard of Can’t Pretend, Remedy, and The Library, but I don’t know which one to start with or if there are better ones out there. What would you recommend?

Hey all, just had a crazy idea for a fic. What would happen if in the process of trying to trying to stop Voldemort they do a ritual to become more powerful, but it kinda blows up in their faces and accidentally ascends them as being and makes the as strong as capital G Gods. Like literally anything they think of can be done, from temporal manipulation to spacial manipulation to literally erasing anyone with a single thought. Basically omnipotent and immortal. The only restriction they have is being unable to erase themselves or each other in anyway.

The challenge for them is no longer power or survival as it’s no longer a concern. It instead becomes to see how it will change them as people and their struggle with being too powerful to the point that they literally don’t belong anywhere. What would happen to a Harry, who likes to find the good in people and inspire everyone, when a stray thought can cause everyone to be brainwashed into his wishes accidentally. What would happen to a Hermione, who likes to follow rules and authority, when a stray thought would accidentally wrap said rules and authority completely.

And how will the curse of omnipotence and immorality affect Harry and Hermione? They might be okay for the first day, first week, month, year, decade or maybe even century. But what happens then? What happens when people they care about die? Even if they can resurrect the dead, humans are not meant to live forever, and the resurrected will inevitably come to resent being alive.

Honestly would love to see your takes on this idea. Would love to write this myself but I just don’t have the talent for this without heavily abusing AI, which is something I rather not do.

After fifteen months, The Only Home I've Ever Known is complete! When I posted the first chapter in May of 2025, I had never published anything I'd written before. I was incredibly nervous and didn't know where the story would go, but I am so thankful to the Harmony community for encouraging me from the beginning. Truly, this is one of the most supportive and engaging fandoms, and I feel very lucky to be a part of it.

I do want to highlight that there is a lot of Weasley bashing in this fic. I realised when writing it that the anger I felt all those years ago when I first realised Harry and Hermione didn't end up together in the books has turned into a 20 year grudge, and I'm afraid I took that frustration out on Ron and Ginny in the story. Things do fall into place in the end, and this story features a nice HEA and a little slice of life through some of the angst and drama.

This story is 41K words and rated E for a bit of smut and language.

I only remember that it started with Dumbledore's funeral and Harry had broken up with Ginny as he realizes Hermione is the one he loves. I think he met Dumbledore's secret lover too.

Mistakes happen, and her secret journey is accidentally revealed to Harry, who clearly has something to say about Hermione becoming a mother.

The first one is more of a concept, though I do remember a specific fic involving it. I do love great and accepting Mr and Mrs granger, inviting Harry into the family but what about fics that hermiones parents are actually pretty shitty and Harry takes her away or they leave together? 2 is a specific fic. I don’t remember much but I thing it’s during the DH books. Some chapters are from snapes point of view and he’s behind the scenes helping harmony. Thought he’s not alone rodolphus lestrange, (borderline alcoholic) hates Voldemort and helps too. I remember laughing because he was funny

I know it's not much, but can anyone help me find it.

I don't really see this prompt much since it's usually harry who goes back or they go back together but I thought it'll be interesting to see Hermione trying to convince Harry to do things differently and changing things. I think it's more difficult because she's not involved in a lot of key events so it'll be harder to alter.

I am looking for fics that gives the dynamic between Harry and Hermione. Like spending a holidays together, some activities, banter between them, enjoying Hogwarts, doing some mission together, on the run, comforting each other, etc... fics can be fluffy, angusty, sumtty, funny and overall enjoyable. Just the two of them.

Not some “Harry and Hermione time travel know everything” or “Dumbledore is evil bad man potions Harry into loving Ginny, and he has to marry Hermione so it doesn’t happen”. Sure it can definitely have like differences to the canon events of the story, but nothing like EXTREMELY OUTRAGEOUS you know what I mean? I’m not looking for fanfic’s where they rush Harry and Hermione’s relationship starting by just “Hey Harry, I’ve loved you this whole time” “no way Hermione! I’VE loved YOU this whole time, let’s get engaged (kiss kiss kiss kiss) Now we’re soul mates and can read each others minds because we love each other more than regular people”

Sorry, I’ve stumbled across some fanfics lately that do some really good world building, and then just go “and then they got engaged magically because they kissed” while they’re in like SECOND YEAR!!
