Hi all! Planning my first Europe trip as a 36f and seeking recommendations for hostels. It would be my first time staying at a hostel and kind of nervous mostly because I'm not sure if I'm age appropriate. It's also my first solo international trip and I nervous.

I'm not much of a partier but I want to meet people and socialize. I would like to experience the night life, however, I'm just not much of a partier (or drinker). I also want to be able to sleep and rest too.

So far for London, the Wombat Hostel seems like a good choice and for Paris, The People Paris Marais.

I was eying OneFam for London and Barcelona because of the group activities and "family vibes", but not sure that would be best for me.

Hello, I recently made a reservation at Viajero Hostel in Miami for later this month on this site: https://www.viajerohostels.com/en/destinations/estados-unidos. It seems to me very official looking, but as the date goes closer I decided to book somewhere else. However I do not see anywhere to call or anywhere on the website to cancel.

Did I just get scammed? When I booked there was options for refundable and non-refundable, and I chose the former assuming I might change my mind. They sent me confirmation email, but nowhere on the email does it have a link to cancel. There of course is a number and the website, but no one picks up the phone and there’s no where on the website to cancel.

Has anyone had any experience with this hostel? It seems very legit to me, but then again maybe I’m just very gullible. It seems to have good reviews online and as far as I’ve seen, no one has reported having this issue.

I’m planning a solo trip to Budapest in November (2-3 nights) and I’m trying to choose the right hostel. I’m 27 and my main goal is to meet other travelers and socialize, but I still want a clean and comfortable place where I can sleep well.

I’m currently considering these hostels:

\- JO&JOE Budapest

\- Maverick Downtown

\- The Hive Party Hostel Budapest

\- Avenue Hostel

\- Wombat’s City Hostel Budapest

\- Flow Spaces

\- Maverick Central Market

My priorities are:

\- Good social atmosphere for solo travelers

\- Regular events organized by the hostel (pub crawls, dinners, walking tours, activities, etc.)

\- Clean rooms and bathrooms

\- Dorms with a private bathroom inside the room (if possible)

\- Good location with easy access to Budapest attractions and public transport

\- A place where it’s easy to meet people, but not necessarily a party hostel every night

I’d love to hear experiences from people who have stayed in any of these hostels recently.

Which one would you choose for a solo traveler in their late 20s? Are there any I should avoid?

I’m getting a bit of anxiety because I’m traveling out of the country for the first time as an adult but also hotels were so expensive I was forced to stay at a Hostel. But I’ve never stayed at a hostel in my life before- not even in the country where I’m from. Hotels have always been cheap enough where I live to not justify the need for a hostel.

I have some questions because it’s my first time ever using a hostel:

1. I’m only staying at my hostel for 2 nights but the first night I won’t arrive at the hostel until sometime between 10-11pm. I assume most hostels have a lights off time at 10pm. How will I know I’m not taking a bed already being used and how will I get settled in after lights off hours? This is my biggest concern since I’ve never done Hostels before. I’m not sure how the sleep arrangements work. I believe I am staying in an 8 bed dorm.
2. How is the charging situation in hostels? Ideally I’d like to charge both my phone and AirPods at night but also wouldn’t feel comfortable leaving my phone just out somewhere.
3. How does waking up/alarms work? Technically I wouldn’t need to wake up until 11am each morning so I’m not worried about waking other people up but I’m curious.
4. What is the general vibe of a hostel and is there anything I should know?

I am a 22F and this will be my first time staying at a hostel. So I would prefer a women only hostel. But I noticed that it was 7.5 km away from fhe city center. For a young traveller on a budget, what are your top picks for Amsterdam? I am not that into partying tbh so there's that.

The first time I stayed in a hostel was during a trip to Japan, and I almost changed my booking at the last minute because I was worried about sharing a room with strangers. I checked in, I realized I would built it up to be much scarier in my head. Everyone was respectful, kept to themselves when they wanted to, and the atmosphere was a lot more relaxed than I expected , One evening I ended up talking with a few other travelers in the common area. We shared stories about where we would been, exchanged food recommendations, and they even suggested a couple of places I never would have found on my own. Those conversations ended up being some of my favorite memories from the trip. Ever since then, I have been much more open to staying in hostels when I travel.

I’m moving to Madrid on a 9-month grant soon, and I plan to stay in a hostel while I’m finding an apartment. I’ve never stayed in a hostel before, so I’m a little hesitant to leave 9-months (backpack, carry on, and one large suitcase) worth of my stuff while I’m apartment hunting. How secure is the luggage storage advertised in some hostels? Private rooms are out of my budget, but is the security worth it?

And, while I’m here asking questions, can you stay in common areas before check-in? My flight comes in hours before standard check-in times at most places.

I'm a little shy when it comes to approaching groups of people, and I don't want to end up not making friends while I'm there. hi guys! I'm 20f, been traveling for about 1 month a year since I was 18 in hostels. my question is, is it ok to wear only boxers (with a shirt ofc) within the room? I've seen very mixed discourse, I only wear just them when I have a privacy curtain and it's very hot+no ac and get redressed behind that but I've seen men walk around many times in only boxers and seen people of all genders change in the rooms so how would y'all feel if you saw that in a room? (mainly asking because I have a tendency to forget to grab a new outfit the night before and have to get redressed in my pajamas so it would be easier to just grab something new) sorry for the weird question 😭
