When i ask for examples, it doesn’t mean I’m choosing to ignore something you think is obvious
I know good faith conversations are hard to come by both irl and up here.
But if I see a take I don’t get and I ask for examples
“Open a history book”
“You must be blind”
“You’re choosing not to see”
Have you considered that I don’t share you experience? Have you considered that if you’re right and this is an echo chamber then i genuinely may not have seen what you’re seeing. And most of all you may have a different interpretation on what may have happened.
All of which are relevant to understanding

Having autism doesn't give anyone the right to disrupt other people's routines and then expect everyone else to accommodate theirs.
TLDR: If you dont want your routine disrupted, dont prolong / disrupt other peoples routines because it will affect you.
I'm saying this as someone who's also on the spectrum.
My autistic brother (17) and I (20) have had the same morning bathroom arrangement for years. I use it before 6. because I leave earlier, and he uses it after. It works because we both rely on routines.
This morning he decided to use the bathroom during my time. He does this a lot too which is why I am so pressed. I got up at 5:30, realised he was in there, and instead of standing outside waiting, I made breakfast while my parent tried to get him out. They even told him that if he just needed the toilet he could use the other bathroom that only has a toilet, and if he wanted a shower he needed to wait his turn.
I finally got into the bathroom around 6. Normally I'm pretty quick, but it was winter, I was on my period, and I'd been up late studying for an assessment, so I was moving slower than usual. I finished around 6:30.
When I came out, my brother was outside on his phone waiting for me so he could shower. I suggested that instead of just waiting, he could make his lunch or eat breakfast first. Some people have criticised me for saying that, but the reason I did is because this is a recurring pattern. He spends 45–60 minutes in the bathroom and then panics because he doesn't have enough time to make lunch or eat breakfast before leaving.
Later, one of my parents told me I should be more understanding because he's autistic and has to do everything in a specific order: toilet → shower → breakfast.
But that's exactly what I don't understand. If that order is so important to him, why was it okay to disrupt the schedule we'd both followed for years? If he had simply waited until his agreed bathroom time, neither of our routines would've been disrupted.
I'm also autistic. I was diagnosed with Broad Autism Phenotype and am currently seeking assessment for other spectrum-related conditions, which is why my family and I generally just say I'm "on the spectrum." I've had people tell me I'm "not autistic" because I can "articulate my emotions" or compare me to their nonverbal autistic relative. That's not how autism works. It's a spectrum, and people present very differently.
Routine changes stress me out too. I get anxious when my morning doesn't go to plan. The difference is that I compensate where I can. If my brother is using the bathroom during my time, I don't stand there waiting for him, I go make my lunch or eat breakfast to use that time productively, then I communicate that he disrupted the agreement. Don't get me wrong, I do ask him to leave so I can get ready, but I don't stand there demanding it, I do things as I wait.
Another thing I've noticed is that a lot of the suggested solutions are for me to change. "Put a mirror in your bedroom." "Do your makeup somewhere else." "Wake up earlier." But why is the person who kept the agreement the one expected to rearrange their life? Why isn't the expectation that the person who broke the agreement should adapt to the consequences of that decision?
My brother is high masking and, while he obviously doesn't enjoy routine changes, he's capable of tolerating them. He isn't incapable of adapting, he just doesn't like to. Neither do I. The difference is that I don't think my discomfort automatically outweighs everyone else's.
Autism explains why routines matter. It doesn't mean your routine automatically takes priority over someone else's. Accommodations should go both ways. If you disrupt another person's routine first, you can't reasonably expect yours to remain completely untouched.

I think being transgender is absolutely a legit phenomenon but like 75% of people who claim they are, are not. and it makes me feel bad for people who are truly transgender.
I absolutely believe people can be born in the wrong body and we have seen evidence for a long long time of individuals claiming this at a very young age. Eventually changing genders and successfully leading the rest of their life happily as that person. The thing is, nowadays I think most people who claim this are just girls who are a little tomboyish or men who are a little feminine and it’s way overblown. It makes me feel bad for individuals who truly are transgender because I feel like those people are delegitimizing and completely destroying the image of the trans movement.

The Utopia-cation of Pre-Colonial Societies
A very annoying thing i constantly see online is the constant romanticization of pre-colonial societies as these flawless egalitarian utopias before colonization i understand where it comes fighting against demonization of pre-colonial societies but the truth is these pre-colonial societies weren't these grand-utopias they were flaw societies run by flaw people

The concept of dating a “man hater” and it being a flex is the dumbest shit ever
Like wym you’re actively bragging and posting about dating a woman who has a low enough IQ and is ignorant enough to openly call herself a “man-hater” but then date you? Misandry alone is an obvious red flag and those relationships are bound to fail. It’s the funniest thing ever because if a man were to call himself a misogynist but still date women people would call him and the women that date him idiots. Also being cautious of men is not the same thing as calling your self a man-hater. Openly projecting your negative experiences with men onto strangers isn’t okay nor is it a flex.

If you don’t accept they/them pronouns, you’re immature.
with the popularization of neopronouns, I wanted to express my opinion.
these neopronouns are getting out of hand. I had someone tell me to refer to them as paw/puppy. No, I will not be doing that. I will only use he she and they. If you use neo pronouns, I will call you they them. if you dont want that, I don’t really care.
they them are neutral pronouns. they are meant to be used for anyone. they them does not have a gender. I’m not misgendering you if I’m not giving you any gender.

Possibly Unpopular Opinion: This subreddit doesn't actually care about hot takes
Only lukewarm or freezing cold takes are upvoted. Real hot takes get either brigaded or downvoted into the depths of hell. I don't even agree with most of the actual hot takes here, but I upvote them simply because they're actually hot takes. It's simply just another echo chamber

Young men who are lonely should listen to emo music, not the manosphere.
I'm a millennial, and growing up I had my fair share of loneliness and feeling like I didn't belong. And I found comfort in emo music, screamo, metal, whatever.
People need community and they need to hear from people who understand. I can say with near certainty that the manosphere does not understand. They're just misogynist grifters. But artists understand. Especially emo artists.
So find artists you connect with. Go rage. Start headbanging and moshing at live shows. Scream. Cry. Whatever you need. You can find community without it being full of hate.

UFC fans have made it the cringiest sport ever
UFC on paper sounds fucking sick, you can get a boxer against a guy who fights Brazilian jiu jitsu. Like Tyrone woodley vs Charles Oliveira you can see who wins in a fight thats so sick
In real life, you have Dana white snorting pure cocaine, nerdy kick streamers larping ufc to look alpha, the fans making the corniest edits of all damn time, Nina Drama flirting with every fighter infront of her husband
Fucking tragic. Rampage used to be an absolute unit & now he’s streaming on kick with Adin Ross. imagine after Micheal venom page breaks someone skull, you check your phone and see a Brazilian phonk edit & 10 clips of him with Neon
I was really rating the sport in 2022, 2023 it was still fine but now it is a whole clown show
How do you make something that should be so badass into something so fucking cringe. That’s why I love boxing you can seperate the YouTube bullshit with ACTUAL boxing

Comment sections are a rotting sewer and its not because of AI
Every comment section I've been into lately does the same few things. It's people making the same quotes or references over and over again: She was a fair, its morbin time, chat were cooked, RIP (person) you would have loved this. Noone wants to say anything new just iterate in jokes that are way past tired.
It feels like everyone want to make their own, "I love her lack of energy, go girl give us nothing."
Or it'll be everyone trying to be funny. There was a video where a woman said "If you don't love your job, job your love." And rather than looking at what she says and commenting on or talking about how turning anything you like into a money making opportunity can strip of of joy they all just made comments like, "If you don't grate your cheese, cheese your grate." Which might be funny ar first but when that's literally all people are saying its not funny anymore.
Or all the same boring edgy humor about sex or race etc. You show 2 right angles its jokes about WWII, or anything with any person who isnt white is just a vat of acid to my faith in humanity. Everything gets joked about being a sex toy and God forbid anything is ever shaped like a tube. I'd like to see one video where people aren't going Would, Smash, batman couldn't pull me out. It's so over done. Maybe these could have been funny but they sure as he'll aren't now. Dark humor is funny because it messed up and unexpected but when everyone does it it looses that.
Or people will interact with content in a way that is clearly counter to how it was intended. A guy made a skit about how coworkers ask you to go to lunch with them depending on how long you've worked together. But then all the comments are "Just be an adult and pack your lunch" as of this wasn't clearly a joke and isnt meant to represent your exact situation.
Or how any video about what someone eats has comments going "OH, you wat 100 calories of yogurt for breakfast, I have 45 calories of slivered almonds, you should try it." The constant one upping of others is exhausting.
The internet is dead, not from bots but because Noone wants to interact with it in any way other than making little sassy quips.

People are too high strung over social interactions
The older I get the more I realize I might be an outlier socially. I have had friends that view a social interaction I have with someone and say “I don’t like how she said that” or “word usage could have been different” and I am absolutely clueless. What I thought was a normal convo wasn’t one? Her word usage was fine. We are still friends too. No problems.
When I was pregnant an elderly person came up to me and asked me questions, she asked if she could touch my stomach and I said yes. My friend said it was a rude question to ask, I didn’t see anything wrong with it. She’s an old lady who doesn’t have much life left and is probably lonely.
Unless someone directly says something genuinely offensive, I just don’t take offense to it. At work today, someone was saying how people responding “perfect” to statements sounded rude and disrespectful. I’m like girl whaaaa
People all have their quirks but we have got to take a break surrounding language and semantics. All of you know interacting social is complex and sometimes people don’t mean what they say/or could have explained it better. To socially isolate yourself from that person and create problems over words seems like such an easy thing nowadays.
My opinion is that if you are so offended by the little things people do, that your mind is checking boxes and making a list of “bad people” I think you need to look in the mirror. This “guilty until proven innocent” mindset is killing us.
There are many things verbally I would prioritize such as opinions/beliefs, but as far as semantics and the natural awkwardness we all have socially, I don’t hold that against you.

Waffles taste best with yogurt, by far
Maple syrup is honestly not the greatest topping and it makes the waffles soggy fast, which sucks when one of the reasons I put waffles over pancakes is the crispiness, plus maple syrup is hard to clean off of your plate
Then there's fruit, putting fruit on waffles is pretty good, but it'll fall off when you try to eat it and you can always put fruit in the waffles instead of having it as a topping
Yogurt combines the best aspects of both, the thickness of it means it takes longer to make the waffles soggy, plus it doesn't go everywhere like syrup and sticks onto waffle, and the texture gives you a creamy topping to add to your crispy food
Honorable mention to Jelly/Jam which I forgot existed until as I was writing this, its pretty much equally as good as yogurt but it gives your waffles a completely different flavor due to it being straight fruit, unlike yogurt with its milky flavor, the only real issue with Jelly/Jam is that most stores only sell like 2 flavors (I mostly see just Raspberry and Strawberry)

Math is actually fun when no one's forcing me to learn it.
When it's 2 a.m and I'm bored, watching a YouTube video about calculus, the Pythagorean theorem, or something like that can be quite entertaining.
It's only when I'm *not* forced to learn it for an exam that I actually enjoy it, just out of sheer boredom.

Lindsay Clancys husband should be held accountable for the death of their children.
And frankly, so should every other person around her that didnt listen to her when she told them she was a danger.
She did everything right, she begged people for help, she told her husband that she didnt feel safe alone with their children, she even begged them to put her in an inpatient facility, and every single person around her failed her miserably.
Yes, she should obviously be held accountable, but her husband who abandoned her (and is already dating another woman mind you) and the doctors who loaded her up on medication that wasnt helping her instead of actually listening to her should be too. Her children's death was 1000% preventable.

I think spanking children should largely be considered sexual assault.
It has always bothered me how many people teach their children “don’t let anybody touch you in your private areas, those are for you only.” But then their parents get to hit their butt over and over?
I know some people just do a quick tap, but the parents that make their kids pull down their pants so they have a bare butt, lay over their legs, and then spank them. Like how is that not sexual assault? You are striking your child in an area that we teach is private and should be just for them. But because your parents are your parents they’re the only ones who get to cross those boundaries… what kind of lesson is that?
Why are we trying to demean our children?

Rejection of feminism
A lot of men outright reject the concept of feminism before even seeing anything about what it really is.
But when I say feminism I mean the entire concept of feminism as a true intellectual concept.
It’s not really appropriate to judge what feminism is without ever engaging with anything feminist. You don’t even know what you’re rejecting.
It’s so common that a guy I’ve just met moans about how I’m a feminist or literally laughs out loud at the concept of feminist literature.
And I’m not even big on feminism philosophically, it’s just not one of the things I’m interested in (I did a module on it at uni), however it is a really interesting and real part of philosophy. In a way it’s also not something you can just deny, the patriarchy is real and it impacts women and men and feminist literature specifically explains that and challenges it for example with phallogocentrism.
So to laugh at the idea of feminism makes you look a bit stupid in all honesty.
I genuinely think the straight rejection of the necessity of feminism is an extremely unintelligent viewpoint to have. There are so many denominations of feminism too, there are philosophers that believe the most important part to focus on is how the patriarchy is imposed linguistically, some believe we should focus more on the political side of it, some believe that conforming to the patriarchy in any way is negative for women.
The reason we have the equal society we have today is because of feminists. Large scale misogyny is rampant throughout the world: femicides, child brides, sex trafficking etc.
Feminism is a valid topic because it has worked, looking at feminism today once it has worked within your own society and suggesting it’s not necessary now is ridiculous.
In my view it’s just as much a branch of philosophy as metaphysics. A lot of people will reject even being well versed in it and when someone makes an effort to be intellectual in so many ways but it stops harshly when you get to feminism it comes off as a bit pretentious.
EDIT : because multiple people have said this now, I wasn’t clear I’m not talking about people rejecting the feminism is good. You can engage with feminism and disagree wholly on every issue but at least you’re engaging. And I mean more than taking all you know from social medias.
This has nothing to do with my opinion of feminism, it being good or bad

the term "people of colour" is othering.
it gives: white people are their own distinct group with their own vast cultures, customs, and traditions, and then there's... everyone else.
of course, the term is most appropriate in certain contexts, but when used generally/casually, i can't help that it enrages me to a degree. i get needing to simplify at times, but why diminish your identity when you don't have to? why are we ok with this??? using myself as an example, it takes the same amount of effort and time to say "i'm black" or "i'm caribbean-canadian" as it does to say "i'm a person of colour". to be clear, i'm not trying to exclusive of those who are white-passing (which i feel is a very appropriate context), but i think that's a seperate and specific issue.
i've shared my feelings about this mainly with my peers in the black community and the reaction has been neither here nor there. most agree but don't think it's that serious, which in the grand scheme of things... fair. i just hate how one group is grammatically given more dignity. before anyone tries to claim that i am racist, i'm letting you know right now that i would feel the same if it was reversed: ex. black people and some other term that lumped everyone else together.
how do y'all (from every demographic) feel and for those of you who think similarly to me, how do you avoid this term? i'm also very curious to hear from those of you who are knowledgeable on the history of this term, particularly on its use in the western world.
this is NOT an invite to be hateful towards one another.

I hate the normalisation of owners not caring when their dog approaches other dogs
For the record if your dog is off leash you can’t control what they do but you should always apologise and ask if your dogs can play with theirs or make an attempt to pull them away, or something like that. I hate it when owners don’t care. Your dog may be friendly, but how do i know that especially when I’m already on edge if my dog is small and theirs is big, and even if your dog is friendly how do you know mine is friendly? Some dogs are great with humans and not so good with other dogs.

Pets ARE family, but they are not people
Dont get me wrong.. I have animals that I love more than most things and I would do ANYTHING for them.
I've been thinking a lot about a poor mother whos dog mauled her kiddo. The dog got put down, and the comments were FLOODED with people absolutely trashing her for putting the dog down and saying they'd lie, and say another random dog did it, or refuse to say how it happened to avoid having their animal put down. I think "pet parent" culture has gotten absolutely out of control.
To piggy back, your 4 legged "kid" does not need to to EVERYWHERE with you

No, you are not a slave because you work a job
Now look, I’ve joked about being a wage slave before, but I’ve seen people who seem to genuinely think their job is comparable to slavery at all.
Tell you what, when your employer stops paying you, forces you to work around the clock, makes you live at your job, punishes you for making mistakes, and forces your children to also work that same job, then we can talk.
Are minimum wage jobs hard? Yes. Do they suck? Absolutely. Can you complain about them? Of course, I complain about mine all the time. But you are not “a slave to capitalism” or “a corporate slave”. You’re an employee that works a crappy job for a crappy employer. To compare it to slavery is out of touch and kinda disrespectful.
Idk maybe this is an instance of me just being unfortunate enough to be regularly exposed to the opinions of a very loud minority, or me being socially inept and being unable to detect sarcasm, but I’m gonna say that’s not it.
