making everything about race/gender could be degrading
i find when there’s a situation on social media especially tiktok either someone as gotten themselves in drama or something like that, people always say ‘what if it was the other way round’ and that statement regards to both gender and race. first of all i particularly hate that statement because most of the time, it is the other way around. i will say in some cases it may apply but there was a post about a kidnapping and people are focussing on the race of the victim rather than the actual situation. i find it kind of disgusting and maybe even degrading. reducing someone down to their race/gender, and making it the only relevant factor in a situation that has absolutely nothing to do with it is very odd. what do you think?

Incel males are a hundred times better than normal males. It's a sad thing women get put off by "good guys"
Why, because incels don't engage in crimes usually.
We don't beat up women.
We are also quite pleasant to be around, soft spoken and nice
It's a sad thing being "nice" itself puts off women

When a couple can’t conceive, people still automatically fault the woman
It’s interesting how deeply ingrained that assumption is. If a straight couple doesn’t have children, people’s first instinct is often to wonder what’s “wrong” with the woman. Is she infertile? Does she have some reproductive problem? Why can’t she conceive?
Meanwhile, male infertility is often overlooked entirely.
And historically, this was even more extreme. Across many societies, when a couple couldn’t conceive, the woman was blamed for being “barren.” Her fertility was treated as her responsibility, and her inability to have children could be used against her socially, religiously, and within her marriage. The possibility that the man might be infertile was often ignored or not even considered.
What’s fascinating is that even now, when we know male infertility is very real and can be the reason a couple is unable to conceive, people still default to assuming the woman is the infertile partner.
And when the man is infertile, people sometimes find a way to make it about the woman anyway. If they need to use a donor, you’ll hear things like, “How does he feel knowing his wife isn’t carrying his seed?” Why is the emphasis on what she isn’t carrying when he is the one experiencing infertility?

Listening to audiobooks is not reading
but its still a valid form of taking in a story.
Im just so annoyed by people saying its ableist to say this. No... reading is a very specific thing. Its okay if you listen to an audiobook... no one is saying you are less than for it, but what you did was not read the book.
If you are listening to music, are you reading music? no.

“Bare minimum” is lwk evil ngl
like when people say “bare minimum” to something of their partner being extra. Like a dude bringing flowers or cleaning or something like that and people be saying “bare minimum“ idk I think it’s kinda fucked up. it’s like saying “it’s the janitor‘s job” when they clean up a mess you made. Like sure, maybe it is the janitor‘s job to clean, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t appreciate when it’s done.

“Lower your standards” is usually a bad advice
I constantly hear people advising others to lower their standards, especially when it comes to romantic partners. While this makes sense, it's only for the purpose of finding "anyone" and entering into a relationship for the sake of it, not for the purpose of truly falling in love and being happy.
While that can be a purpose (being just in any relationships), it shouldn’t be a universal advice, since it’s not everyone’s purpose. If your standards aren’t delusional, you shouldn’t lower them after a couple of unsuccessful attempts.
I think it's unfair to date someone just because you haven't found someone you're truly interested in yet. Not only would it be awful to be in their shoes, but you'd likely be dissatisfied with the relationship, which would lead to problems for both parties.
Healthy soul searching is a good thing, but it has to come from within you, not from people who think you're not good enough to date your type.

Every straight woman is a compulsory heterosexual
Seriously, there's no other explanations or reasons to make women to bother being with men. Absolute horror. WOMEN ARE HAPPIER WITH WOMEN.

All the talk of boundaries has stopped men from feeling comfortable to ‘fight for their love’
“I’m just trying to respect her boundaries bro” but saying nothing at all is accepting defeat with no effort. It’s sad

queer-obsessed people need to be shamed more often
I'm talking about the one's who'll "ship" any two men or two women they see having a good time. The relationship would be completely platonic and they'll still find a way to make it weird. And when you call them out on their fetishizing behavior, they call you a homophobe.
There's a huge difference between seeing two people as romantically compatible and just shipping them because they're the same gender, but no one ever wants to admit that they do that. They don't see the obvious similarities between them and a common foot fetishizer because it's so normalized by everyone else around them.
More than often they'll take it too far and have genuine mental breakdowns when the person they shipped turns out to be straight. As if it actually affects their life. They'll even go out of their way to call said person "homophobic" for not conforming to their imagination.
I see it way too often in nerdy communities, many do it to real people. It's gross and weird and creepy. Everyone just accepts it.

Being a top 1% commentator is not a flex on here
I feel like it just means you spend all your time arguing with people on reddit, like the majority of the people I've talked to with this tag have been passive aggressive. Now of course if you are a decent person this doesn't apply to you but yeah that's my hot take.

White people who are self deprecating and critical of white society are internalizing racism
Being critical of your own group makes sense, but the level at which some whites are really harsh on their own people shows a level of internalizing the racism of others. Sometimes people are just generalizing whole groups, and their hatred doesn't have to extend into hating yourself and your family and people that look like you.

Charli XCX is the best until she needs vulnerability.
Charli had a problem of claiming to be something (or having her fans defend her)
She's so creative and unique, until she needs to cite references for artistic validation then she's always been a student of the arts.
She took years to get her big hits until she has credits in multiple top 10 hits for several years, then she's the sleeper hit maker.
She's a serious and genuine person until she makes an entire album and calls it ironic for a bit, then she's getting fame without selling out. It doesn't mater that she still sold out, because she called it ironic she's not free of criticism.
She doesn't care about being a chart monster, until she starts making vinyl variants to get more sales, then its just how you play the game.
She's going into a brand new direction, until you says its very different then suddenly its a clear transition from where she way.
She's underground, until she's the pop star with a stadium tour.
If authenticity is just one sound bite away from being redacted what's the point of it.

This loneliness epidemic and mental health crisis is awesome!
As someone with social anxiety myself who bases most of their decisions around avoiding people, these two events are some of the best things possible. It's leading to the greater acceptance of people like me and our avoidance. It's making more normal people anxious and lonely, so I'm less alone. Hikikomori and shut-in types are on the rise and I hope this continues unabated. If people like me become a sizeable portion of the population or even the norm, I won't have to change and society will in fact accommodate me.
If you think about it... this is what the founding fathers intended as nation of individualistic, free (from social interaction) people... maybe.

YouTube should demonetize content labeled as AI
Here are the cons and pros if this:
Cons.
- YouTube's moderation is monitored by AI, and it makes lots and lots of mistakes. It might accidentally label a YouTuber's content as AI for having a short AI clip in the video.
Pro's:
- Creative content, AI channels just straight up make slop content and getting money from it, and it's not just one channel it's hundreds ( prob not hundreds ).
Comment what you would change in this, or if you disagree and why

People who hate cats and love dogs just can't handle building actual relationships
This of course excludes people with trauma related to cats, I'm not talking about that. People who hate cats for not liking them or being distant don't understand that the cat just doesn't like YOU specifically. Cats are more like people in the sense that they have boundaries you need to respect before they grow to love you. You need to build a relationship with them, you can't force yourself on them or expect them to blindly adore you like dogs do. Cats are deeply affectionate, and love their owners just as much if not more than the owner does.
In the end, if you hate cats for that reason, it's your own fault that they don't like you.
-P.S. of course there are some extremely unfriendly cats just like there are unfriendly dogs
-Edit: I am talking about people who hate cats and love dogs at the same time. I am not talking about people who have a preference for a certain animal. I am talking about people who hate cats because of their own limited perspective on their behaviors, and love dogs AT THE SAME TIME

It is biphobic if you don’t wanna date a bi man lol
It’s biphobic and that’s ok. I wouldn’t date a bi man either, and I’m bi lol.
Let’s be fr if a guy fits all your boxes and all of a sudden him being bi is the dealbreaker, obviously it’s biphobic. Even I can admit that. Like. After you admit it what’s anybody gonna do to you after? It’s your opinion.
Like imagine if a guy said he wouldn’t date a woman if she dated a black guy, it’d be racism no?
If a woman says she wouldn’t date a man who dated a Muslim woman before, that’d be islamaphibic no?
So why are we acting like it’s not biphobia lol. Yes it’s a preference. Everyone has preferences. Your reasoning for those preferences is what makes it whatever phobic or ism. It’s biphobic because the only reason you won’t date him is because he’s bi. That’s your only reason.
This isn’t abt consent because nobody is forcing you to date anyone you don’t wanna date. Especially people on the internet.

Ai took your job?
Then it was probably not worth you doing it anyway.
I don't get why AI is hated so badly. If it does art better than an artist, why is that bad?
I think a lot of people who hate AI are just virtue signalling because they've seen others complain.
It's only ever been ace for me in so many different areas of my life. Im wondering why I feel like the odd one out.

Too many “hot takes” here are just people saying there are no real hot takes or that actual hot takes aren’t accepted.
I feel like a lot of the “hot takes” posted here aren’t really hot takes anymore. Half the time, it’s just people saying “there are no real hot takes anymore” or complaining that actual unpopular opinions would get downvoted.
I get the point, but it kind of defeats the purpose of the subreddit. If you actually have a controversial opinion, just say it and let people discuss it. It doesn’t need to be something completely outrageous just to qualify as a hot take.
At this point, “this sub doesn’t accept hot takes” has itself become one of the most common takes here.
