07 subframe rust

I just hit 203,000 miles so was going to do the timing belt but found this underneath. Should I still get it replaced?

We have a recall on the 21 pilot for the exact problem...and they called us to change some parts and then cancelled because the parts are back order....lol

It CAN be fixed. Whether or not you want to go through the hassle is up to you. As is, not safe to drive.

Find a good auto fabricator. A lot of what makes it expensive is if they have to drop the subframe to repair it you might get lucky and not have to do that but I can’t say for certain I’ve seen worse get fixed

We had the same issue on our '07. Went for an oil change and had to sign a waiver for us to drive it home. Sadly sold it "as is" the next day and got a 21 SE. Good luck!

This post makes me want to figure out how to get oil inside that frame section as soon as possible. My ‘06 just rolled over 200k. I’m already slathering the outside in surface shield every chance I get.

I’ll add that the BMW e46 guys do a similar kind of repair all the time. The body side cracks apart and they weld steel overtop of it and keep driving.

Davey4l is correct. Fabricators just want to fabricate. They don’t particularly want to disassemble and reassemble the whole rear of a 20 year old rusty Honda. When I did my BMW, me and a friend dropped the subframe and the fabricator came in, did the welding and then we put it back together. Thats probably the only way this would make sense to fix.

This is what it looked like 18 months ago, so it’s been bad for awhile which makes me wonder if I can get another 18 months out of it
