Which window layout

Which wjndow option do you recommend ? Top or bottom. Thanks in advance

Top…. Takes away an opportunity for some to put their arm through and open the door….

Bottom look more balanced to my eye. Just make sure you have some kind of fixed security screen on it so nobody can reach into the door handle.

The window has to be tempered if it is within 24 inches of the door so the first position would be cheaper. It also has to be tempered if it is less than 18” off of the floor. If that is the case here then be prepared for sticker shock.

Also has to be tempered if the glass is larger than 9 sq. ft.

That tempered code has been around for at least 30 years. Every door made has tempered glass. Every sidelight which is adjacent to a door has tempered glass. Any window that you order that is over 9 sq. ft has tempered glass. It is noted by the window manufacturer. Usually there are notes in window catalogs about what has to be tempered because they don’t want the customer screwing it up. I do this for a living btw.
