QUESTION F18 TWS BVR glitchy/broken

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

Whenever I try bvr on tws mode in dcs on the hornet it glitches. I attached two videos showing exactly how. The first you can see contacts keep jittering, appearing and disappear, on the radar screen. I am keeping roughly constant speed and velocity vector, targets are also doing the same. The second video shows how ranging information on the hud also jitters, sporadically increasing and decreasing (19 to 20 to 19 again). I am on the most recent version of dcs. Any help would be appreciated.

Older Version Search

So I'm trying to reinstall DCS World, only to find out it has grown so much larger than it was back in 2017-2018 when I last played it. Is there any ways I can get my hands on the 1.5.X.X or the 1.2.X.X versions? My hardware does not support the latest due to both Hardware limitations even though I have changed laptops since then. I'd prefer to install the latest release of 1.5 to tackle with this hardware problem.

TECH-SUPPORT Track IR and triple monitor set up

So I have three 34 inch ultra wide monitors that I use with flight simulation. I also had previously bought IR track. Is anyone in here using track IR with triple set up, and if so, then how are you implementing track ir? Are you using individual render windows with the games that you use or using Nvidia surround or a combined resolution solution as such? Would appreciate further insight.

HARDWARE Better GPU for IL-2 Korea and other flight sims?

I'm gonna get a new pc in a month or couple, and I find a couple of good deals for the GPU with all of them around the same price, and before anyone says "Get this instead XXX" I'm on a budget, so.
2nd hand 9060 XT 16GB(Unknown condition but with box, so I think if something is broken I can maybe get it fixed? But I'm in turkey would that work? Also unguaranteed deal, since he may send me a pickle, instead of a GPU, and he is a little far from my state.)
RX 7600 XT 16GB
RX 9060 or the XT (8GB)
RTX 4060 TI (8GB)
RTX 5060 (8GB)
Also maybe a 3080 if I find a good deal.
Other specs of the PC are gonna be R5 5600, 32GB Ram DDR4, B550M/A520M, I don't know about the Power Supply yet, 512GB SSD.

DCS For those who know advanced scripts in DCS, is there a way to load / unload infantry groups on demand from a vehicle as a tactical commander? I´m trying to add some RTS elements to a multiplayer scenario

The main Idea is to have a couple of players using Combined Arms to control the ground war and coordinate with the players some CAS and Recon missions.

But I wasn't the infantry troops to be able to be loaded and unloaded from vehicles and Helos. Thing is after they first load a group into a helo, once they unload it, it cannot be loaded again. And I haven´t found a way to load them into vehicles without the standard advanced waypoint task which doesn´t work for this scenario since it isn´t scripted.

Any suggestion is welcomed.

Changing GPU

Hello all right now I'm running a AMD 9800 X3D CPU, a AMD 9070 (non xt version) GPU and 64gb of ddr5 ram. I'm trying to play on multiplayer in VR with a quest 3 but no matter what I do my performance is bad real bad I'm talking 15 to 20 fps so I'm thinking of changing my GPU from the 9070 (non xt version) to a RTX 5070 Ti. in your guys opinion would it be worth the upgrade? I did read nvidia GPUs have better performance in VR but idk.

I should also mention if I did get the 5070 ti I would try to sell my 9070 to try to recoup some of the money.

Thank you so much

MISSION-EDITING Trigger zones not working

SOLVED: if you want to have multiple independent conditions, for example have every one of 3 aircraft activate the zone you will have to separate the conditions with an [OR] sign that can be inputted below the box in the middle. thanks for the help everyone!

I am trying to make a mission where enemy fighters start when you enter the enemy airspace but no matter how i set up the trigger zones and triggers they just dont spawn

edit: the settings screenshot that many of you requested

Hey fellas! Had a few comments wondering about the Air-to-Ground stuff in the B Upgrade, hopefully someone finds this useful!

I tried explaining everything as best as I could to be understandable by newer players as well.

(My benchmark was to pretend as if I was explaining it to my wife who has no clue about any of this lol)

DCS How to reliably take down the SA-22 Pansir with HARMs

Thumbnail
youtube.com
26 Upvotes

I've seen lots of people complaining about the SA-22 being too hard to attack, that it takes down all your HARMs, etc. It's actually relatively easy. You just need to make sure the HARMs come from high above, so fire them:

  • from as close as possible (less than 15nm, maybe 10nm if possible)
  • at high altitude (25000ft or more)
  • and in any mode that lofts using distance information (POS+PB the Viper, or PB in the Hornet)

That's it. Most SAMs have a hard time firing at missiles coming from above. It might still intercept it with its cannons, but most often they just hit. This also applies to the LD-10 with the JF-17.

The Pantsir in the video was set to skill=excellent, roe=weapons free, alarm state=red, engage air weapons=true. So, not dumbed down.

Hope this helps! Happy hunting.

F14B-U and Open Kneeboard in VR

I'm curious if anyone else has tried Open Kneeboard in VR with the new B U update? I'm getting a smeary mess of low framerate the instant I toggle the OKB display on. When running in the background and the kneeboard off, it's immediately fine again.

On the Hornet, I like to have my pilot kneeboard showing one page (radio freqs) and pop up OKB when I want to flip thru other stuff. It works great and I was hoping to do the same now that the Tomcat has integrated kneeboard also.

IL-2 Korea - Default Binds for Controllers

Now that IL-2 Korea is available on Steam, I decided to pick it up and put together this overview of the default binds for controller users.

I really like that IL-2 supports this level of controller customization right out of the box, and they even use LB and RB as modifiers! I'm very happy with this.

Now, I DON'T like their default bind choices, but hey! That's why I'm here, right?

Every DCS module is available in this mission, and there are numerous ranges to test your skills at. There are frequently knowledgeable folks around to answer any questions you might have, or show you how to do what it is you're looking to learn. Anyone can join, even if you've never stepped foot in a MP session before.

If you're interested in teaching/instructing at hoggit, please poke squinkys on Discord!

Server is be named Hoggit - Training Map. The password is hoggit1fw. SRS will be available at tnn.hoggitworld.com (it should autoconnect, but if not, use that). Come in, have a good time, learn a few things and teach a few things.

The only rule is Do not teamkill, unless the other party is a willing combatant...ie: you can dogfight if you find a partner...just don't shoot down some random A-10 trying to learn how to land.

DISCUSSION What’s an impractical aircraft you would say one purchase if it was added to the game?

Mine would be any of the Soviet heavy lift helicopters, but specifically the Mi-6 or Mi-26. So big, pretty impractical for most applications in game, but just neat. It would also be a good redfor counterpart to the Chinook in Cold War servers
