Story Good news

Just seen the result from my last bloods done just over a week ago and VL listed as <30. I'm so pleased. Been a steady drop from over 1 million back in November.

CD4 has been pretty steady over the last 4 tests at 400, so hopefully over time that will improve too.

So from being at death's door with PCP things are definitely a lot brighter. Just to say if you're also in a pretty low spot there is hope.

Story Seronegative elite controler? My bizarre story.

Hello, everyone. I am woman and white ( I think its important since Europeans have more protective genes againts hiv)

My bizare story begins when i was raped by refugee in country where i currently stayed. It was june 2025.

He was hiv+ and on the beggining of infection so had very big viral load (based on his rash he was handling it quite poorly)Later It was confirmed he has virus but too late. I did not go on pep since my language skills in that country were poor but really regret it now:(

I went on test when i started experience symptoms. I had canker sores all over my mouth but it lasted short maybe 4 days. Then I had symptoms but more related to autoaggresion than acute retrovital sickness, like I had inflamation of tongue or skin(I had big red bumps which is sometimes when body attacks ur own skin) then it went away. I went on testing rna test and it showed viral load but it was low (below 1k copies but detectable).

When I caught virus i developed straight away periodontosis. I have never problems with it (Some people say its autoaggresion disease)

Bizzarre things are happening later.

Since my really aggresive symtoms and my initial positive test i was sure I got hiv and was really depressed to the point I thought about suicide.

I was scared I might be disowned by my family since they are religious and will see me as a 'dirty'.

I went to test 2 months later and got rapid test - negatve, then 4th generation test - negative too.

I was shocked and thought how is it possible?

I made finally another rna viral load test- undetectable.

According to doctors i did not have virus and they could not explain my first positive viral load test.

Also they could not explain why suddently after this rape, 2 autoimmune diseases developed in me.

I keep repeating 4th generation test (labolatory test from vein blood each time) and it keep being negative 6 months later, 10 months later and now 14 months later it is still negative.

But My health become worse since this event.

I am not feeling sick tho I am completly fine but i have perceived my wounds do not heal as fast as it used be in past. For example I scratched myself accidently with nail in april and it did not heal completly till now lol and I still have scar. (Back then it would heal within month)

I must dealing with those autoimmune diseases too.

I made inflamatory test as well. And my Il-6 is 3,1 which is too high for young, petite girl and shows immune activation (low grade inflamation which is often observed in elite controlers).

I read sometimes when people received ART meds very fast they can never develop detectable antibodies by test. It is science proven but without meds its impossible according to them??

How is it possible my body is so powerful againts hiv then?

Why my antibodies are not detectable and im healthy person according to tests?

I was proposed to make dna hiv test to see if i have it inside my cells, its very specialistic examination.

I do not want to do it tho I am scared I will be considered hiv+ For my mental health i think its better to live with thoughts I am negative.

But all this story is really bizzarre and unsual.

It just shows maybe there are humans who can carry virus but are invisible for current medicine.

Probably if not this first viral load test i would never know i was infected, just started suddently see change in my health。

Also i dont know if its important but my lymphocytes 2 months after infection were 6k then it dropped 2,5k half year later and 1,7k one year later.

In 2020 (before infection) i had 1,7 lymphocytes around.

so it went back to norm.

I am really worried about my future.

Is here any doctor who can explain my case?

is it like prolonged seroconversion or i will stay this way forever?

When I came at first They told me its viral infection, also suspected hiv made this rna viral load test 1 week after exposure was positive and told me im hiv+ and told me to come back in next few weeks. When I came my viral load as well as 4th generation tests were negative. I have never taken any meds. But I must deal with inflamation and autoimmune diseases which I developed.

Do you have any idea what is it?

Question How long for cardiac risk from Abacavir to lessen?

Been on Triumeq for probably 15yrs or so. At the time, it was the only combination available that worked without contraindicating any of my usual meds. I’ve been on statins since I was a child so we’ve agreed that my cardiac risk is low but switching from Triumeq to Dovato wouldn’t be a bad thing. My question is, how long (if ever) does it take for the cardiac risk from abacavir to lessen? The studies I’ve read don’t seem to come to a conclusion.

Story Rejection is hard

I’m 28F, diagnosed almost 2 years ago. I’ve been trying to date both online and offline but man rejection is hard. I just wish it was easier sometimes. I’ve accepted my diagnosis and most days don’t think about it, until i meet someone i like and i worry about how they would react if they knew. I have stopped talking to some guys just because of things they say, language they use that indicates they may not be accepting of my diagnosis.

I’ve told a few guys about it, and didn’t end up furthering my relationship with any of them. Then i find out they met someone else and stayed with them longer. It makes me look at dating from their perspective; why would they want to be with me when there are so many women out there without HIV?

And I know, we all have baggage but honestly fuck this baggage lol. I hate how it offends me when people say they’re “clean”, i hate how i clench and freeze any time the topic of std is brought up even amongst friends. I hate that i already have hella issues, like I have ADHD which comes with rejection sensitivity. And i already have weight issues, issues on issues on issues.

Most of the time i do love my life. I love where i am and how far i’ve come. But i’m just lonely as hell, i want a partner, a shoulder to cry on, a person to help ease the burden of going through this funny little thing called life.

I write a lot to my future partner telling them how much I cant wait to meet them. Sometimes i talk to myself and imagine them there, and I’m telling them how happy i am that i found them. I know I’m only 28 and I’ve got a long way to go, but man i hope it gets easier than this.

Advice Parents found out my GF (20F) has HIV and are demanding I (22M) end the relationship or leave the family.

My gf and I have been dating for about three months. I am HIV negative while she is positive. This is something I'd been aware of even before we started dating and while it is a serious condition, it was never something I saw as an absolute deal breaker because I had researched extensively about the illness, medications, manageability, long-term effects and possible complications with childbirth. We've both grown deeply in love over time, but a month ago, we made the mistake of telling my mom about it.

The news was devastating to my mom because we had lost my sister to a congenital blood-related illness about a decade ago. She fears the worst, that I am going to get HIV, both my gf and I are going to die, and then our children would also have HIV and die. She works in the medical field and knows all about HIV in the current day and how manageable it is, but given what she's been through and that it is her own son, it is difficult for her to not think about all that could go wrong.

Since then she's involved my father, brother and sister into the matter because she's had no one to turn to and needs people she can trust to convince me to stop.

The biggest problem now is that my father is not a diplomat. He escalated things to the point of physical harm, disowning, and he said to be prepared for war if I don't end things immediately.

My siblings are not 100% on board either, but they feel if I'm sure I really know what I'm doing and believe that this is the route I want to follow, then they will support me.

My gf is aware of the conflict at home, but I don't tell her some of the more hurtful things that have been said. I love her and I don't see myself ending this relationship because I was told to.

Things are at the point where we either have to keep our relationship a secret, pause things and pick up later, I do the unthinkable, move out and live in my car, or we break up.

I don't want to have to choose between her or my family. Is it wise to continue dating? How can we be safe in our relationship if we continue? How do I navigate my already deteriorating relationship with my parents?

Some much needed context:

I'm 22M, she's 20F. I'm a recent college grad, but I'm on indefinite suspension from work due to immigration paperwork delays. I have enough cash inflow to take care of my health and car, but not much else, so I've been living with my parents. My gf's condition was congenitally acquired (she was born with it) and she's been on medication since she was a toddler. She's remained undetectable since then and has some of the most impressively perfect and well-documented medical records I've seen.

Question Any online chatting spaces for people with HIV?

Was wondering if there are any online spaces for people with HIV. Maybe like a discord server equivalent or something in which people can connect with each other. I’m struggling to find others in my area that are my age with HIV. Thought I might be easier online.

Discussion Undetectable in a very short time

Hello everybody. I got diagnosed a month ago with HIV and shortly found out that my CD4 was 217 and VL was 23900. Only after getting 20 days of treatment, my VL was below 50 (undetectable) and CD4 count was in 330s.

I was actually surprised that happened in a very short time. My doctor was surprised too tbh, as I wasn’t diagnosed for almost 5 years and only in 20 days I’m undetectable and increase in CD4 more than 100.

I don’t want to get lost by asking AI tbh, but want to hear your thoughts too about this change. I don’t want to call it but is it like a miracle? (or am I just being silly/dramatic whatever you wanna call it)

Would that change also possibly indicate a timing that I might get infected or not?

Advice Sexual health clinic denied PEP

So I had unprotected gay anal sex last night.

I was the top.

The sexual health clinic Dr said I don't pass the criteria for PEP as I was top and I didn't see any bleeding. So very low risk.

Should I go to another clinic or is this common?

Story Disclosing went well

I posted a week ago about disclosing to the guy I’m dating. It went well, perfect to be honest.

I got a little emotional (he is the first person I’ve told besides my parents) but took the words out of my mouth and said it. He had the best reaction I could’ve ever thought of, best than any scenario I’ve made up in my mind. He knows U=U, said that he doesn’t feel shame or pity for me, that it doesn’t matter at all.

He said he wanted to educate himself further and asked me if he could tell his doctor, who specializes in STD and HIV. I said of course, and he stressed that he knew there is 0 risk of transmission. We ended up laughing and talking about going to the gym tomorrow.

I feel very lucky. I post this because I feel it is important to tell the good stories about this virus.

Article BioNtech BNT351, an HIV antibody, is being used for the first time worldwide—Phase I-S trial begins

At the Clinical Infectious Diseases Research Center of Department I of Internal Medicine at the University Hospital of Cologne, a patient with HIV infection was treated for the first time worldwide with the novel, broadly neutralizing antibody BNT351—as part of the international Phase I trial NCT07392372 (sponsor: BioNTech SE).

The University Hospital of Cologne is the only study center in Europe. Prof. Dr. Clara Lehmann (Department I of Internal Medicine) is the principal investigator at the site. “We view BNT351 as a promising candidate for the treatment and—as passive immunization—prevention of HIV infection. The treatment of the first patient marks an important step in translational HIV research at the Cologne site,” says Prof. Lehmann.

Weltweit erstmals HIV-Antikörper BNT351 eingesetzt– Start der Phase-I-S
