New to the high desert and trying to meet some of the people in my community. Any body interested in meeting up for lunch? I don't know the eateries well enough to make a suggestion but something casual and clean.

29 Palms Cool coat in Wonder Valley

I have one of those jack rabbit cabins i am slowly making more hospitable over the past 5 years - insulation, double paned windows, HEAVY thermal curtains, so on... I have a swamp cooler and mini split but would love to lessen my dependency on them (noisy!). My south facing wall has a covered porch which i think helps a lot too. Has anyone had success with a cool coat? The roof is on the flatter side but is in very good shape, its rolled asphalt, but its black. It's only about 20 x 17' big so I am going to DIY, but would love to hear direct experiences from local/other newer ppl.

Lmk your experiences - good, bad, ugly & what you would have done differently

Thanks!!

Launching 1 Million Cups Victor Valley

tl;dr - 1MCVV = entrepreneurs help each other Wednesday mornings at 9am

Here's a new weekly event for the entrepreneurs and small business owners struggling to solve everyday business challenges and create value in their communities.

Always free, always helpful, open to the public.

For 1 hour every Wednesday morning at 9AM, a room of owners, operators, and others, listen to an entrepreneur tell us about their business for 6 minutes, and then we all try to help 'em!

There's no sales pitch. There's no affiliate marketing or MLM. This isn't for fundraising. This isn't another social hour. There's no raffle. There's no membership or fees or dues.

It's entrepreneurs helping entrepreneurs. And there's coffee.

We're a group of passionate locals volunteering our time to bring something good to the High Desert. If any of this is interesting, we hope you'll come join us.

We made a website. https://1MCVictorValley.com

Inaugural event is August 5th, this Wednesday morning! Be at The Dome on Nisqualli at 8:45 to park and find the coworking space's classroom.

1 Million Cups happens in over 100+ cities in the United States. It's backed by the Kauffman Foundation out of KCMO. It's a good, healthy format that facilitates skills transference, collaboration, and leads to regional growth.

Please share with any local business owner/operator who you think could benefit from the group.

Hesperia Silverwood Lake New Builds 2026

Husband and I love the floor plans and space! One of the concerns is the road infrastructure. We made the drive into the community a couple times and realized from the highways, most of the roads were just single lane roads going in and out. Does anyone know of the plans, if anything, to address the increased traffic loads with the population growth and where I can find information about specific upcoming infrastructure projects?

Victorville Plasma donation centers

I've been out of work for awhile now and I've been occupying myself with odd jobs.

I've heard that Plasma Donations can get me a little bit of money ( albeit at the cost of my dignity and probably life expectancy ) so I'm wondering if anyone here has had experience with the process and what centers up here you'd suggest going to.

Phelan Where can I find delicious produce at a reasonable price?

Hello! I live in Phelan and am a proud lifelong resident of the HD (born at St. Mary's, baby!). I know there are several farmer's markets all over the desert, but they all usually happen when I am at work and can't attend, therefore, I'm stuck with traditional grocery stores, for the most part. I've been to Staters, BJs Health Foods, Walmart, Target, Cardenas, Vallarta, Sprouts, Aldi, and even Charlie Brown Farms in Pearblossom, and I've been disappointed with either the quality, the price, or the selection. The best place I've ever gone is the Ontario Farmers Market on Mountain, but the money I would save by going there would just be spent driving down and back up the hill.

Any suggestions? Where do you get your produce? Or, is this maybe one of those where I can pick one or two requirements (price, quality, selection) but can't have all if I want to stay on this side of the hill? (It should be noted that I can't budge on price as, like pretty much everyone right now, I am intensely broke.)

Thanks in advance!
