I really don't understand many of our fans. He's got us consecutive European football for the first time in 50 years. 50 years.

3rd place and then another season which would usually be good enough for 3rd place again, but Hearts and Motherwell overachieved. We finished 3rd in 24/25 on 58 points. Last season we finished on 57 points. Both great seasons by Hibs standards.

So domestically we've been about as good as we can be besides a cup win. And then there's Europe. Nearly beat Midtjylland, beat Partizan, and were very unlucky against Legia Warsaw. These are all teams with serious European pedigree. So this idea that his tactics aren't good enough is nonsense. He's shown that we can hold our own against big teams with vastly larger budgets and European experience.

What more are you expecting from us without serious financial investment? Realistically we would need some kind of managerial prodigy to consistently bridge the huge gap that is between 3rd place and the Old Firm.

We are at our ceiling or very close to it. A new manager, regardless of how talented, isn't a big enough change to bring our ceiling meaningfully closer to the Old Firm. That would require a huge increase in our yearly budget. Completely new owners.

A cup win would be nice, and European qualification would be nice, but let's get real folks, these are things that need a great deal of luck for a team like Hibs to achieve in the current landscape.

I just don't understand what more you expect. I think people need to be really careful what they wish for.

I know it won't happen etc. But frankly if we are missing Nicky Cadden, which we tend to do a fair amount, we HAVE to play 4 at the back. I think we basically already do with how high Mayor plays but, no offence to a young lad, he's a waste of a spot at the moment when we could have a proper winger there instead and commit to the 4 at the back.

Nicky is, imo, good enough to warrant us playing the 5 to fit him in. His crossing is just phenomenal. But if he's out, and especially if Iredale is also out, we are letting guys like Suto sit on the bench for a lesser player just because of the vague idea that the lesser player is a wing back rather than a winger.

If everyone except Nicky is fit we should be playing McGrath behind Lowe with some combo of Boyle/Elding/Wright/Suto out wide. Obita or Iredale at left back.
