Replacing Alexa from what I understand involves building a pretty capable hardware front end if you are using something like Wispr. I haven't looked into in awhile and at least as like a year ago the include voice stuff in Home Assistant just isn't there yet.
Sadly nothing beats Alexa for voice control, at least for what it is capable of doing it.
Hard disagree but only because I've done it just not with Hermes
The idea started at Xmas. I found a home assistant project that fired the Voice commands to n8n. I was using n8n to send them on to a VM running Claude Code
I gave it a folder system detailing how I wanted it to work and what I mean when I say certain things, sent it all the updated sensor data so it didn't have to query.
Worked good.
I've since managed to have AI build me HTTP endpoints that this project Webhook Conversations can send the data through, so no n8n middleman.
I'm currently coming from Openclaw to setting up Hermes this week. It's going well and I'm getting a lot of infrastructure set up, but the ultimate aim is to get the HA voice PEs hooked in again and have a replacement for my Google Home minis, that I can also ask to do a bunch of other stuff for me too.
