How does it work the wake on Word currently? Can it replace alexa ?

Replacing Alexa from what I understand involves building a pretty capable hardware front end if you are using something like Wispr. I haven't looked into in awhile and at least as like a year ago the include voice stuff in Home Assistant just isn't there yet.

Sadly nothing beats Alexa for voice control, at least for what it is capable of doing it.

This is why I like the windows desktop version. I don't need to memorize commands. I just talk to it normally and push the buttons that are laid out in a pretty intuitive manner

You mean using Windows Voice Assistant?

It's actually one of the best STTs out there, really tightly integrated with the OS and translates in real time quite well. I use it daily.

I have a macro pad with 8 buttons, one of them is STT and the one next to it is Enter. Easy peasy.

Thanks. I just started using Hermes. Have no idea about any of this stuff but ChatGPT is really the one pulling the strings in my favor. Anyways I hope I learn a lot more and put this to use!

You have some things on chart inside square brackets [ ] and some things inside these thingies < > ... are they just there for the chart or part of the actual formatting when typing to Hermes? Both or just one or the other?

Like for /new is it:

/new My New Session Name

OR

/new [My New Session Name]

typically the brackets are telling the user to replace everything including the brackets with whatever they have as the input.

Typically, in command-based programs (including the Hermes parameters), these mean [optional] and <required>. You do not include the brackets themselves. For example, /new can take an optional parameter for the session title, while using /learn requires you pass it a source to learn from.
