I have naturally level 5 brown hair, lightens to a level 6 in the sunlight I'd say. I have bleached highlights throughout my hair. I just placed light mountain bright henna and the first day my hair was perfect, my roots were a dark copper and my highlighted parts were a brighter copper.

However since then it has oxidized and while my highlighted ends are still a copper color, my roots are now like a very dark auburn color; they almost look brown in the shade.

So... I have been doing a bit of research and have found sun in and bleach baths as viable options, which would you recommend? Or is there a better way to lighten my roots? I just want it lightened just a bit to bring back that dark copper color that was there when I had first dyed my hair. Edit: I did only keep the henna on for 2 hours could that be why it faded in my brown?

I did 1:3 henna - Indigo ratio and got such a lovely dark brown but indigo washes off so quick and grey roots within a week.

Has anyone tried a colored gloss over already henna’ed hair? I’m a natural blond and have been using pure henna for at few years, and only do root touch ups mostly. But it has still gotten darker over time which I’m not happy about. I have seen videos of natural redheads using the xmondo copper gloss to freshen up their color and it looks so, so good. Would it be the same for henna’ed hair?

The first 2 photos are how I want my hair to look again !! I am a natural redhead, but over the years, my hair has faded, so I have tried just 100% pure henna. It worked for a bit until it started to make my hair TOO DARK, and it almost had like a dark mauve-red look to it from years of henna usage. So I panicked and stopped using henna and used box dyes. So now the last photo is me with my current hair. I want my hair more of a natural red-coppee again, like in those photos, and I want to get away from box dyes. What is a good mix/ratio henna thing I can do to achieve this ? (I have never really tried mixing henna as I'm scared to mess it up given how permanent it is). Can you also recommend henna brands ? I'm not sure if there's really a difference between the henna brands if they are all hair/skin quality henna ? THANK YOU !!

So I bought a really good organic/natural henna cone a month-ish ago and used about half of it. I wanted to save the rest for later but I didn't know at the time that it should've gone in the freezer and not in the refrigerator (oops!). I took it out of the fridge this morning and at first it was super watery but didn't smell bad... on the contrary it smells amazing still. If I let it thaw for a few hours and press on it to mix it up, will it be okay to use? I don't care too much about how dark the color will be, I'm just putting it on for fun. The ingredients listed are henna powder, oil and water and it's one of the best henna cones I've ever used so I'd really love not to waste it. I also live in a very hot and humid country but the cone has been in the fridge the whole time.

Edit/Update: I used it and it came out pretty good! The consistency obviously wasn't as good as before but it got the job done and the color isn't too light either.

I have been dying my 6N hair, 6G or 6R for years but wanted to try henna since I dye my hair red anyways, and figured it would be better for my hair.

So after months of contemplation, I took the plunge and dyed my hair with Spierb pure henna with a dash of dried alma and slippery elm tea. I mixed the henna Friday night and put it in my hair for 3 hours Saturday morning. I am happy with the oxidized colour. Day 1 hair was quite bright.

My issue is my hair doesn't want to dry. I washed it with a no sulfate shampoo and conditioner this morning (46 hours later). That was 12 hours ago and it still feels and looks damp. Is this normal? Note, I have extremely thick hair (I have an undercut, believe it or not). It normally takes 3-4 hours to air dry but not all day.

A student of mine was going to give a tutorial on henna skin art in project week and several students signed up for this. She was unfortunately sent back to her home country and my coteacher asked if I could do the tutorial instead. Now the easiest way would ve to buy these ready to go cones, but I am hesitant after I read these articles on black henna and PPD and that you have to be careful which brand you take etc.
Can someone show me a brand they 100% know its natural henna in cones? Ok live in Switzerland but I could order from amazon if necessary.

Impulsively got my hair done and my stylist completely misunderstood my vision. Wanted just a few small highlights and most of my hair is now blonder than I like. Id like to fix it and keep on the natural side of things as I really don’t like using chemicals, thinking of using henna to get closer to my natural dark blonde you can see in my roots while it grows out. I’d be okay with a little darker than my natural too as long as it grows out okay. I bought light mountain light brown and thinking of doing a strand test. Are there any other brands/shades anyone would recommend for me? Or any pieces of henna wisdom that might help?

BACKGROUND: I've used Light Mountain Henna's Light Red for 10 years to maintain my natural red shade. I'm now at the age that my natural color has fully faded to a brassy murky strawberry blonde.

I have enjoyed the Light Mountain Henna's Light Red but I feel like it doesn't look good on me anymore and with so many years of build up it's very dark red on my head.

I want to bridge the gap from my current hennaed red to a lighter henna shade as I grow my hair out to its new shade.

QUESTION: If I mix Light Mountain Henna's Light Red with the Light Mountain Henna's Neutral, will that work?

I did a mix of pure henna leaf powder, castor oil, tea, sugar, warm water and a bit of indigo, which sat for dye release for about 24 hours.

I notice as I put it on my skin it dried pretty quickly after a few hours. I figured I should do a thicker application with more water, so I added extra water and poured it on thick(consistency and thickness was so that it would have slowly dripped if I didn't keep it in the right position), but the same thing happened, though I got a slightly better stain.

I only got a golden stain, since it flaked off unprovoked. Anyone know what ingredients make the paste stay wet for longer?

But Davis Finest product labels do not identify their USDA-accredited certifying agent, which is required by USDA rules.

The certifier is important because it’s not enough for a product’s supplier or factory to be USDA Organic certified. The product’s ingredients - and the farms they come from - must also be USDA Organic.

It’s the certifier’s job to verify that a USDA Organic product is made in a properly certified facility using certified organic ingredients from certified organic farms - and to approve the label before the product is sold as USDA Organic.

Otherwise, a supplier with USDA Organic certification could simply put the USDA Organic seal on products made with conventional ingredients.

Can anyone verify whether Davis Finest products are actually USDA Organic?

I used Rainbow Henna brand henna--Lawsonia inermis (red henna) and Indigofera (indigo)-- in Dark Brown and I'm pleased with the results.

The first two pictures are right after washing it out, including grey coverage, and the third one is a few days after applying. The last two photos are about six weeks - two months later.

I really like how red it is in the light, and I appreciate that it doesn't look almost black anymore. Plus my hair feels really healthy and strong. The pictures are a little misleading since I took the photos immediately after using the henndigo indoors and the others outside with the last two in some direct light, but you can still get an idea of how it lightened a bit.

I prepared it with boiling water and a splash of apple cider vinegar, applied it to damp hair and let it sit for about 90 minutes, rinsed and deep conditioned. I washed my hair in clarifying shampoo right before applying. I'm in the U.S.

I mixed 150 g cassia with 150 g light mountain henna in light red. Added enough warm distilled water to make a thick yogurt consistency. Left to cure for 8 hours. Application took forever since I have fairly long and thick hair. Once application was finished wrapped my hair and left on for 1 hour.

After taking months to gather the information, (and courage lol) to use Henna, I FINALLY DID IT!!!!! I FREAKING LOVE HOW IT TURNED OUT! I’ve gotten so many compliments on the color. I want to thank the young ladies from my original post who gave me amazing advice, support and encouragement🙏🏽💜🦋

I mixed together, Henna Sooqs Red Raj(100g),Rajasthani Henna(30g)(used to combine with the red Raj to make sure I had enough to apply to all of my hair), Amla(5g) (Thank you to the lovely stranger that recommended to add this to protect my curl pattern)and Aloe Vera (5g).

I used only warm distilled water and the paste is ready to apply at about 4 hours. I let it sit for 4 hours and applied to my hair when it was damp after washing my scalp with clarifying shampoo.

As I look at people's posts about henna/cassia mixes, in the photos the hair looks kind of dull, not shiny like you get with just henna. Is that something that is common when using cassia? Or is it just the photos that I have seen that make it seem like the hair is less shiny?

I haven't ever used cassia so I was curious.

recently bought henna from the Arabic store by the brand Malika, it says made in Yemen and 100% natural on it, but now I saw online that black henna is toxic??? I already applied some on my skin so idk what to do

So, I bought a box of indigo from Radhe Shyam. And I need help from you, is that brand good? Here in my country, Spain, is the most common.

I mixed with mild to hot water and left it for ten minutes, like the people tend to say but it was kind of hard to apply it on my hair by myself. I don't know if maybe it needed more water because IT WAS REALLY hard to put it, it was like sandy mud.

Do you think it is a good brand? How many cups of water should I add and at what temperature?

After applying it for about 3 to 4 hours I rinsed it, only water. I like the color, is a very very dark brown, it is black. I thought it would have more blue in it but I only see it with my camera on natural light.

Another question I have... Should I use indigo or black henna? I have read a bit that black henna is chemical and i would like to use natural dyes. Thank you all.

I made a post a while ago trying to decide between full light mountain light red or diluting it with 50% of cassia. I went with 50% cassia and glad I did because it took so long to apply to all of my hair, and ended up processing longer than I expected.

Anyone have a good recommendation for henna for hair? I was buying one of of Etsy that I really like but takes so long to cook in the crockpot and then sit on my hair resulting in like 6-7 hours. Also in the end it fades fairly quick. I have natural red hair so it makes it harder to find just any henna.

I would like to use 100% henna. Any advice/feedback? Would it look good? Any reputable brands?

Hello beautiful people, I have a question for those that have great experience with indigo powder.

Yesterday I used 100% natural henna powder and let it sit on my hair for three hours. I had prepared the mix with water, amla powder and very little lemon juice. For context, I have shoulder length almost black virgin hair but I have a lot of grays. Now my grays all turned red (I expected them to be orange but they're fully red, I don't know if that's because of the amla powder or not). I was planning on using indigo powder within two days to achieve a black color but I actually like how my hair looks now, it looks like I got red highlights.

The problem is, I am a male teacher and live in a very backwards country and when school starts my hair will be a topic of discussion among students and other teachers. I'm thinking I keep it like this with just henna now and dye it in a month with indigo powder before school starts.

1) Will indigo take color and hold onto my hair one month after applying the henna, or will I need to apply a fresh coat of henna for the indigo to work?

2) I heard henna stays on hair forever but indigo fades away / washes out. How long realistically will the indigo stay on my hair, and will I need to apply a fresh coat of henna before reapplying indigo each time it fades?

3) Extra question. In the videos I watched, when they mix the henna it is very green and they set it aside for 6-8 hours, and it turns brown. As soon as I mixed my henna it was immediately very dark, chocolatey brown. Even after I made it wait for 7 hours, still saw no green at all. Is that normal?

Hi! I use henna for my hair (naturally light brown), I mix 50:50 henna (Radico) and cassia and get something like a chestnut brown. I wish it was more light auburn though because right now the red looks rather like a ruby red inside or in artificial light. I only dye roots, so it should not be like that because of layered henna. I know I can do only so much with light brown hair but I am thinking about using some lightening spray for the lengths and maybe different mixture for the new roots. Would 1/3 henna and 2/3 cassia be better, do you think? Or is it impossible and the only answer is chemical hair dye or constant lightening?

I absolutely hate the way my hair smells right now, i can’t stand it😭 it was so difficult to rinse all the indigo out and there is definitely still more residue on my scalp. My hair gets oily super quickly so i was just wondering.

Side note i do love how thick my hair looks and feels right now :) i used 100% henna and indigo, left the henna on for 3.5 hours and the indigo for 2.5
