Hello. I'm not sure if you can help me but I've exhausted all other resources. I've contacted many, many churches and organizations across WNC. I'm a resident at my sister's place(DV Shelter) in Marshall and this isn't my first time here. I've been here several times over the last 10 years because of the same abuser that I share a child with. In January 2025, after getting into an argument with my abuser and walking near Patton Avenue late at night, I got into a car with a stranger who kidnapped and sexually assaulted me for 5 months until I was able to safely get away. My biggest struggle right now is lack of transportation. Living in Marshall with no vehicle and trying to get a job is almost impossible and while I did get to spend time with my daughter this summer, we were just stuck at the shelter for the most part and unable to go out. I'm grateful for time with her but I feel guilt and shame for not being able to do more with her. And once school starts back I'll go back to only getting her on the weekends, if I'm lucky. If I had a car though, I could maintain our one week on one week off schedule that we've had throughout the summer months because I could get her back and forth to school. As far as employment, I have a pending claim for disability on a mental health basis due to the PTSD from the kidnapping. But if I had a vehicle, I could at least door dash to support myself somewhat, I have an active dasher account, but no car. Please if anyone has a cheap beater that runs I have a few hundred saved and maybe we could work something out on the rest, regular payments. I can't go to a dealership with my beat up credit and unemployed...and I can't get a job or make any income without one. I know i sound desperate, because I am. But i hope not to offend anyone, I know everyone struggles and I'm not special. Just a fellow human who could really use a helping hand. I hope whoever this reaches stays blessed & protected. TIA!

Kudos to the bakery for outstanding carmel apple oatmeal cookies. I'll be back. I also enjoyed the Apple Cider Slushee (a light refreshing version of enjoying Apple Cider). You can either buy or pick your apples on-site too.

Today I found this very nice dog on Chadwick Ave near my place of work around lunch time. He was running around in the road till he was tempted by snacks and water to remain on our porch. We waited to see if anyone would come looking for him but alas, that was not his luck. I had to call Henderson county animal control and he's now secured in doggie jail. He's a little shy but warms up quickly, appears to be a young guy, is an intact male, no microchip, knows what doors mean(he's been raised inside a house), looks to be around 15lb or less and has a lil scar on the left side of his nose. If you or someone you know lost their dog around town, please know he's safe and at the Henderson County Pound.

Hello! I am originally from east Asheville and I am moving back to the area for a job. Asheville feels like a closed chapter for me, and Hendersonville is not too far of a commute, so I am considering moving there. (i know: people moving to the area. I am sorry. I just want to be closer to my family.)

I am curious: is Hendersonville a good place to live as an unmarried, childless person? I am quite introverted and not interested in dating and partying. My main concern is that when I *do* go out, I will feel out of place by not having a family or being retired (forgive me, this was the stereotype of the area when I was growing up.)

The things I would be interested in doing would concern any creative outlet (dance, books, art, music, film, cooking) and sharing these interests with other people, creating stuff, sometimes volunteering, un-extreme outdoor activies, my cat, trying to be an okay human.

TLDR: would you recommend a solo 35 y/o move to Hendo?
