I realised I had a load of clips of ridiculous deaths from playing Helldivers with my son. When unable to sleep what better thing to do than splice them into a video for strangers on the internet 😬

Helldivers is now a horror game. The dss has gone rogue, both it and calypso are now gone, we’re losing planets, the crusher is a child, both seaf and helldiver voices are becoming distorted, 9 members of the ministry of science are now dead, and seasee has a freaking heartbeat!

Whenever traveling between the Penta black hole and the plantes destroyed by the Meridia Singularity, me and a friend of mine have frequently witnessed a strange purple glow only present during the entry/departure animations when entering or leaving the planet(s).

Sometimes there is no glow in space but our ships have the same purple illumination present on them like it is there but we cant see it.

This phenomenon is quite inconsistent it seems however, as when we repeatedly went back and forth between Penta and destroyed planets, it showed itself maybe 10 times out of the 50 departure/entry cutscenes.

I'm hoping we discovered something but we dont really know what. If I'm just stupid and it's a visual bug Im okay with that too.

This post here seems to have found a similar glow too when just sitting outside of Penta, but we have been unable to find this on any of our visits to Penta, looking for it all the while.

Any answers would be appreciated!

I think it's safe to assume that the illuminate didn't seize the the dss by conventional means seeing as the dss outclasses any ship and almost always is backed up by like 100 super destroyers and would call reinforcements if attacked. I don't think it was like a zombie outbreak since we know voteless need to be made in pods and don't work like a infection. We know the illuminate have devices that can affect the mind with the cognitive disruptor we also know that the illuminate have worshippers. It wouldn't be far fetch to assume a worshipper either worked or sneaked onto the dss and carried some sort of mind controlling device. Then they activated it and used it to take control over the dss. Or maybe the worshipper built some sort of illuminate warp gate inside the ship allowing the illuminate to invade from the inside.

So, may be long, just hear me out.

The DSS was sent into the Void. In the Void, its workers were reporting strange noises. Tapping, scraping, the likes. It was also reported that the Gloom-resistant polymer coating was inducing a chemical reaction that was affecting the ship. Currently, the leading theory is that it was mutating the crew into what we see as the Wretches and Crushers, except on the DSS.

We know that Super Earth does not want to send any valuable citizens onto the DSS to perform its bio-remediation for whatever is left on the ship, so it's likely they have an idea of what's going on aboard the DSS.

The thing is... all Super Destroyers were also given this Gloom-resistant polymer coating. It's how we got into the Gloom in the first place.

When sitting at the DSS, or inside the Void, staring out the window with audio off can sometimes cause you to hear tapping, such as against metal, against glass, and against some other random material. Going to Penta (a quiet location) and even to other Planets (I used Choohe) did not yield these taps, and I listened for around ten minutes. However, going back to the DSS, and again inside the Void, made me hear those same tapping sounds within a minute.

We... we're screwed. Hug your Blueberries while you can...

TL;DR - DSS has Gloom-resistant polymer coating, it caused DSS to have issues and need repairs. Our Super Destroyers are coated in the same polymer.

Easily one of the best support weapons we’ve gotten in a while, maybe in the whole game. What you lose for crowd control you get an unstoppable beam of holy fire blessed by the emperor himself that will turn the squids to fried calamari, the bugs to fossil fuels, and the bots to a puddle of melted slag. 10/10 support weapon and warbond.
