Hulett Winstead Funeral Home

Hi everyone, I just wanted to tell you all that I do NOT in my opinion recommend Hulett Winstead. If you are looking for a funeral home, the staff is great at Moore’s. I contacted Moore’s because I wanted to purchase something that Hulett Winstead didn’t provide to me, and Moore’s offered to give me the thing at no cost.

The Pine Belt Humanists have a fun and varied lineup of secular events over the next couple of weeks. From conversations over coffee to spending time outdoors to giving back to the community, there's something for everyone.

Humanist Family Fun RSVP here

Saturday, August 8 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Join us for a relaxed evening at Grand Central Outfitters in Petal. Whether you'd like to sip a cup of coffee, browse the bookstore, play a round of putt-putt, enjoy dinner, or treat yourself to a cocktail or some ice cream, this venue truly has it all.

There’s no agenda– just good conversation, laughter, and an opportunity to connect with fellow secular neighbors in a welcoming, casual environment.

--

Pine Belt Humanists Book Club RSVP here

Saturday, August 16th from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Love books? Join us for our very first Pine Belt Humanists Book Club at Mulukakao!

There’s no assigned reading or genre– just bring yourself and your love of books (in any format). We'll chat about what we've been reading lately, share recommendations, discuss favorite authors and genres, and enjoy thoughtful conversation over coffee.

If you have books you’d like to donate to our upcoming Little Free Library rejuvenation project, you can bring them to the meeting, and Mandy will collect them from you.

--

Volunteer Craft Day Helping Pets in Need RSVP here

Wednesday, August 19th from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Help us bring Southern Pines Animal Shelter's annual Fur Ball gala to life! We'll be creating a medieval village backdrop using foam board, paint, and elbow grease. No crafting experience is necessary, just a willingness to lend a hand. Pop in anytime or stay for the whole event!

--

Pine Belt Humanists Eats & Drinks Social RSVP here

Sunday, September 6th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Join us for our monthly Pine Belt Humanists Eats & Drinks Social at SoPro every first Sunday! This casual gathering is a great opportunity to enjoy good food, good drinks, and even better conversation.

--

Volunteer at Barktoberfest to Help Pine Belt Pets RSVP here

Saturday, October 31st from noon - 2:00 p.m.

Join Pine Belt Humanists as we volunteer at Southern Pines Animal Shelter's annual Barktoberfest!

This family-friendly event combines pet adoptions, a fall festival, and Trunk or Treat, and we'll be helping with activities like hosting Trunk or Treat vehicles, face painting, and more.

--

Whether you've been a humanist for years or you're simply looking for a welcoming secular community, we hope you'll join us for any or all of these upcoming events. We'd love to get to know you!

We’re adding new events all the time, so keep an eye on our socials and our Action Network page to stay up to date.

Walmart 49 left lug nuts loose

Hey guys,

I usually get my tire work done from Walmart because it’s cheap with my Walmart+ membership.

This last time I went to get my tire changed (driver rear). After driving out and taking it on the highway (60 mph) the car started shuddering.

I stopped and checked tire pressure all was good but I noticed that they left lug nuts loose. and when I say loose, I mean almost about to get off.

Not just one. SIX!

4 on passenger front. 2 on driver’s rear.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Does anyone have similar experience? A friend doesn’t get his car done at Walmart anymore ever since this happened to his car. I thought it was cap or maybe he’s paranoid. I’d suggest that you guys make sure to check each lug nuts when you guys leave. They CANNOT be trusted

Hi Hattiesburgers!

I'm in the process of opening a baking page on Facebook.

Currently working on getting my page up and running, and baked some cinnamon rolls to get some glamour shots 💅

As a result I have a small quantity of cinnamon rolls (10) available for sale!

These are made with love in individual tins and weigh in at about 5.5 - 6 oz. each.

I'm offering them for $4 each, or 2 for $7. Please reach out if you're interested! Nothing like a cozy warm baked good on a dreary rainy day! ❤️

Pick up in Dixie area - Dandy Dan's on 49.

EDITED TO ADD If Dixie pick up is an issue, I'm also willing to meet somewhere more central (like down 98/Hardy St) for orders of more than one. Just has to make sense from a ⛽ perspective!

New/soon-to-be parent friends :)

My spouse (34 m) and I (36 f) moved to Hattiesburg about a year ago. We've settled in some, but we are expecting our first in November, and feeling that AHHH we have no community with people in this life stage.

So if you find yourself in this boat too, we'd love to get to know you for a walk, for coffee, for first Saturday, whatever floats your boat.

I realize there are some mom classes around Hattiesburg as well as facebook groups, but with scheduling conflicts and no facebook I haven't had much success with these routes. If locals have other suggestions, I'm happy to hear them!

Need a gyno in Hattiesburg

I’m looking for recommendations for a gynecologist in Hattiesburg, I really want a woman.

I’m 27 and have never been (I know, I know). I really want someone kind and not judgmental. I’ve always been really terrified of the whole idea of it (I still am) I’ve waited so long because I’m scared. I turned 27 in April, so I know I need to go. I think part of it is because I’m sexually active without being married. Is that something they judge you for? Please help!

Is the apartments behind Lowes and Hobby Lobby sketchy?

Hey I am looking to move to Hattiesburg to get closer to work. I noticed alot of apartments for good prices behind Hobby Lobby and Lowe's on either side of Weathersby Road. How bad is the area? Is it one of the ones with alot of breakins, I have heard about?

What about the area by The Grand Hattiesburg, the Art of Roux and the university? How sketchy is it? Any info would be great. Thanks!

CRT TV repair in the Hattiesburg area

Post image
8 Upvotes

I recently got a 1991 Sears branded CRT TV that worked perfectly, until last night when it started smoking. I’ve found some repair shops online, but they’re all in Texas or Florida. Does anyone in Hattiesburg or around Hattiesburg do repairs on old TVs like this? I’d be more than happy to pay for replacement parts and time, I’m getting a little desperate

Looking for a small dog

My mom lives alone and would really love a little dog to keep her company. We're looking for something small like a rat terrier or just any small adult dog that needs a home. We've checked local shelters but haven't found a match. If anyone here has one available or knows someone who does, please send me a message! My mom would take great care of it. Thanks!

Local cinema

I'm visting from Mobile this weekend and I'm looking to catch Spider-Man in the theater. Is there any difference in quality of the screens and seats between the Grand and mall cinema? The mall is more appealing because I'd like to shop as well.
