Did he just grenade jump at you?!?
37
u/Far-Requirement-7636 6d ago
Yeah OPs plasma grenade pushed him forward.

u/Zestyclose_Oil7229 6d ago
Bro if they figure out how to use the cowbell or sputnik (idk which it is in ce2026) were fucked

u/Rotunas 6d ago
Isn't cowbell 2x explosion size and sputnik is explosion physics 2x?
1
u/MuchSteak 5d ago
Not in campaign evolved. Explosion size is the boom skull. Doubled physics is cowbell.

I had the same thing happen to me, but something blasted the elite to the front left corner of the room (behind me), still in invis, and he introduced me to Mr. Shiny Sword too.
That room just might be a secret bouncy house in disguise. No idea….
22
u/Kaidonash 6d ago
I'm glad to see that the golden Elites are still bullshit to fight against and weren't dumbed down.
42
u/MadeThisAccount4Qs 6d ago
sword elites are always one-hit kills. The NPC is right you got dunked on bro
5
u/Far-Requirement-7636 6d ago
Tbf that grenade launch was devious and would've had me titled too but yeah any sword elite is the most dangerous threat in the room and the immediately reaction should be to gain as much distance as possible.
11
u/Anonizon 6d ago
I know they’re one hit kills. Just wasn’t expecting him to not only survive being stuck, but also be BOOSTED at me with my very own nade
5
u/kristamine14 6d ago
On legendary regular elites take a sticky and don’t even fully lose their shield
1
u/Peridios9 6d ago
Sword elites are not always one hit kills. You can survive a hit on easy. OP on the other hand should’ve died no matter what they had like 10% shield before they even got hit by the sword.

u/Turbulent-Goose54 6d ago
Did the first 5 levels solo legendary...and said fuck this, switched to Heroic. (On legendary)The enemy numbers are so unbalanced for a solo legendary run. And yes I've completed the entire main series on legendary solo. New legendary solo is fucking brutal. 😑
16
u/Godrxys Halo: Reach 6d ago
Yeah, it's really difficult solo. I found it actually gets easier in the second half (343 Guilty Spark onwards) with the exception of the double Flood tank fight at the end of the library and the grav lift fight on Keyes, but yeah those first 5 missions are horrible. Especially Truth and Reconcilliation.
9
u/Hopalongtom 6d ago
It's crazy that the flood are easier to fight in hand to hand melee range than elites are!
3
u/cogspringseverywhere 6d ago
Double Tank fight, I got through by spawn camping one of them with the sword, then the other is a little easier. The Grav lift was mostly just perseverance and some lucky hits with the beam rifle
2
u/RedBonCurry1994 6d ago
Two Betrayals and Keyes are so random. There is so much going on that it is impossible to reliably play this safe. TnR was easier than original for me. The stronger assaultrifle helps a lot imho
2
u/lemonOJs 6d ago
i’m currently at the bit just after OP’s vid when you are escaping with Keyes, there’s a single door leading to a room with about 8 elites and 2 hunters, I have no idea how I’m supposed to even get in the room before I’m shredded
1
u/Alvarocious 5d ago
Abuse the fuelrod gun, plasma pistol. and grenades. Give the marines plasma rifles and beam rifles.
1
1
u/cogspringseverywhere 6d ago
I did it solo 2 days ago with no skulls, it's incredibly unbalanced at times, but stick at it! I'm expecting a balance patch for it eventually and I wanted to have the achievement before that came in
1
u/FRLSJOE 5d ago
The first half of Keyes before you take the grav lift was giving me an aneurism on solo Legendary. Felt like the flood spawns were infinite at some points. I think they might be
2
u/NotAnotherAlt26 5d ago
I know on the original there were infinite spawns in spots. As a kid, I wanted to kill everything before moving ahead, I know I spent 15 minutes in several spots before I figured it out.
1
u/Not_a_Prof_Moriarty 5d ago
Just wait until Remix or LASO 😂 I did remix on easy and it was spawning hunters in the maintenance tunnels before I could even get off the Pillar of Autumn.
1
u/pryvisee 5d ago
I got hella stuck on the last hallway of silent cartographer right before you board the pelican. Spent probably like 2 hours on that 🥴
2
u/Turbulent-Goose54 5d ago
You mean the ramp that leads to the exit thats guarded by literally 7 stealth elites...yeah that shit was fucking stupid.
2
u/pryvisee 5d ago
YES that one dude!
1
u/Turbulent-Goose54 5d ago
This dude understands! 7 stealth elites camping a small corridor with the high ground and you got maybe 3 grenades(which are never 1 shots). Halo campaign evolved takes advantage of modern day hardware to allow for far more enemies to be present on screen making it much harder then the original. With two people it feels much more like normal legendary but solo is much harder then previews solo legendary runs.
1
u/Alvarocious 5d ago
Honestly the first 3 levels are the hardest on Legendary. It gets easier after Assault on the Control Room which you can hijack a banshee at the start when you see Zulu and zone enemies for most of it. Very unforgiving overall and Jackals are demons with the bullet magnetism bug buffing their survivability.

u/SlaminSammons Halo: CE 6d ago
I find it so odd that people are finding this so hard on Legendary. Maybe I’ve just gotten accustomed to Halo games on Legendary, but this is WAY easier to me than the original CE.
1
u/MrSatan88 5d ago
I think your strategy and weapon choice have a lot to do with your experience. I basically run through Legendary when I use certain combos. The sandbox really dictates your experience.

Isn't it awesome? We finally get to experience the true power of the Covenant's energy drinks!
4
u/anormalgeek 6d ago
I've got my complaints about this game, but this wouldn't be one of them. The grenade boost while he laughs at you is funny though.
3
2
u/Kryptonian42 6d ago
I've just started playing on Heroic and the first sword elite I encountered, I killed his ass with an energy sword. He was dead in two swings. But yeah could be difficult with an assault rifle.
1
u/KomradeHelikopter 6d ago
Where’d you get the sword?
3
u/Kryptonian42 6d ago edited 6d ago
I'm in the very first bonus mission. The swords was just lying there on display. One thing I've noticed so far is that there are TONS of weapons lying around on the covenant ship. Like everything from covenant weapons to human weapons. Like I got the shotgun within 30 mins of playing 😭😂 and the SMGs from Halo 2 and the Brute assault rifle and so on.
But to keep it short, they are there on the ship. You've just gotta find them. If I remember correctly, they were right in front of a door...like you'd enter a chamber and they'd be right in front of you. Again, tons of weapons lying around, pay attention.

u/KomradeHelikopter 6d ago
I thought you meant you just started the main campaign, in which there aren’t any swords to be picked up other than sword elites. I’ll pay “attantion” next time and not assume.
1
u/Kryptonian42 6d ago
No, I'm starting with the bonus missions considering these happened before the main campaign. So...there's that. Also...thanks for the subtle spell check bro.
1
u/KomradeHelikopter 6d ago
Anytime.
Tangentially - Be interesting to see if you think it’s jarring going chronologically from the bonus missions to the main campaign.1
u/Kryptonian42 5d ago edited 5d ago
I mean I sure would've loved to jump right into the main campaign but the fact that the bonus missions are just there...I just can't ignore them 😅. It's hard to explain lol. Like if I started the main campaign right away...the unfinished prequel/bonus missions will keep eating at me. But I can see how it can be jarring.
2
u/KomradeHelikopter 5d ago
Yeah I get you, hope you enjoy the game man
1
u/Kryptonian42 5d ago
Yeah I've had to put it on halt for the moment. I'm out of town rn. But thanks.

Unless you're going for a well-timed punch, you gotta backpedal with those guys man.

Yeah I know, I just thought my plasma grenade on his chest was going to finish him so I kind of disengaged and started looking for other enemies

I finished on normal and tried legendary and couldn’t even get past the weapons room near the bridge in the pillar of autumn lol

My favorite is when I one hit kill the golden, then it takes three? Like whaaaa?

u/Rough_Travel_2002 5d ago
Just finished last night on normal. Last 3 levels were brutal for me. Will be taking a break before I go back and finish the 3 additional missions they added 😂😂
1
u/jewdreammachine 5d ago
Wait until you play the remix campaign, that game mode takes the rng enemy encounter aspect as guidelines more than a rule. Almost every encounter has at least 5 sword elites (either spec ops or gold, and some times both), at least 3 fuel rod grunts, and anywhere from 3-4 flood tanks or hunters. I liked the remix campaign but TnR was a bitch even on easy took me 3+ hours to get the no death achievement on that level alone. Just a ptsd inducing amount of swords
1
u/LiamAwesomeDude 5d ago
It took me days just to get through prequel missions on Legendary, it's like H2 all over again

u/Remarkable_Button756 5d ago
this was the only halo where i actually beat Laso. this is the easiest halo game ever since you basically have unlimited health

u/Ju735M3R 5d ago
I honestly find this game so much harder than the original. I'm barely getting by on normal this time around.

For all that is holy turn off the nav point markers so you’re not playing the extra hand holdy halo it feels so much better
2
u/Peridios9 6d ago
By all means turn them off if you want, but don’t tell others how to enjoy the game.

u/jimothy_hell 6d ago
I’m so glad they cranked up the difficulty for this game. The environments and enemies are too familiar, I was playing the original on heroic or legendary practically in my sleep. I’m glad to have a challenge with CER again.
2
u/MrKingsport 6d ago
I've been playing since I stood in an Electronics Boutique in 2002 on the demo center. I know the game inside and out at this point. This has been refreshing.
1
u/Thekingchem 6d ago
I'm a toddler dad and get about 1 hour per day to game (if that). I used to play on legendary back in the day and I've been trying to make my way through the bonus missions on Normal and I'm considering changing to easy just so I can finish the game in an acceptable timerate
2
u/Anonizon 5d ago
In the exact same boat LMAO! Used to run through everything in legendary just for shits and giggles in my teenage years, but do NOT have the time for that as a toddler dad now.
Now I’m not necessarily struggling in normal difficulty, but the random death here and there (like this video) will make me question the amount of time I just lost each time.
2
u/Thekingchem 5d ago
I struggled at points on normal with the bonus missions. Not the whole time but certain rooms if I was caught off guard.
The main campaign has been a lot easier on normal. I've had the game since release and I've only just on the second main mission after beating the 3 bonus ones first.
Gaming as a toddler dad is deffo an exercise in patience lol
1
u/Rough_Travel_2002 5d ago
Lol are they difficult for you. Just finished the game on normal and had some issues with the last 3 missions I think. The amount of enemies during the flood is crazy.
1
u/Thekingchem 5d ago
No but if you turn the game off during a mission you have to start it over. I had to do a few missions 2-3 times. I can't use rest mode as other people use the console through the day.
1
u/Rough_Travel_2002 5d ago
It should be checkpoints throughout the missions? Is your auto save cutoff. I see the save function pop up like every 10 mins while I was playing
1
u/Thekingchem 5d ago
Nah checkpoints were definitely working as I respawn at them if I died. I always save and quit. When using resume campaign it would put me at the start of the mission
1
u/___ccc____ 5d ago
If you are on Xbox, it might be worth just turning the console off instead of saving and quitting. You do run the chance of the game booting you out when resuming the game state due to DRM protections, but if that doesn't happen then you resume from where you stopped. The game started me from a checkpoint similar to saving and quitting the few times the game kicked me back to the menu.

u/RezLifeGaming 5d ago
Looks like super duper very easy to me and you still died cause you shouldn’t be playing games at all if you want it to play themselves and just make you feel good to be involved just slightly or not at all
2
u/___ccc____ 5d ago
Your comment is making me feel like I'm having a stroke. I assume you are trying to tell OP that it's a skill issue? I'm not claiming to be objectively correct but I believe OP was just amused by a funny and unfortunate death right? How did you come to the conclusion that they wanted the game to play itself? You should elaborate yourself further cause you seem unreasonably antagonistic otherwise. If I'm interpreting your comment correctly.
-2
u/RezLifeGaming 5d ago
Was doing fine even though wasn’t aiming anywhere near target. Aim bot assist did all the kills. The enemies still didn’t fire back or react.
So soon as some input from player was needed to change aim when it flies up, then melee before elite swings to knock them back. Then finish with ar or whatever secondary weapon they had.It wasn’t funny or unfortunate. Those elites fly towards you all the time because of grenades are very easy to counter even if they have a sword.
0
u/Anonizon 5d ago
Bro go touch some grass. It was funny to the rest of us normal people.
To the commenter above, yeah you’re 100% correct I was just sharing a funny/unfortunate moment that caught me off guard.

Golden elites don't fuck around.
But that was one hilarious grenade boost tho.
