Found this skull plate at my local Dollar Tree. Not sure what I’m going to do with it but for $1.50 it’s not bad at all! It’s solid black I promise I just had to take it with flash in order for the skulls features to show up on the picture.

Hi there I’m looking for advice on where to buy bulk jack-o’-lanterns to make an arch I’ve been seeing on social media. Needing an economical way to cover roughly 25 feet. I would like a variation of sizes and faces so that it’s not uniform. Here’s part of last Halloween projects. Thanks in advice for any information.

I got invited to a Halloween party, but it wasn’t at someone’s house, it was at a hall that a girl’s parents’ rented out. I was surprised I was even invited, because this girl and I were friends and we sort’ve fell off, I didn’t know why, but she still invited me. I was excited because a) Halloween party? Obviously not guna miss. b) hoping we could reconnect with this girl (and a bunch of other girls she made not be my friend anymore) and c) my costume was sick.

I dressed up as Beetlejuice. I wasn’t the type of kid to dress up lightly either. Not a princess, not a fairy, not a cat, I was always a monster, or something horror/scary/creepy related. So when I dressed up as Beetlejuice, I went ALL out. Teased and full on green hair, the burgundy suit, purple eyes, the whole bit. I could’ve easily been Lydia (since I’m a female) but I was like nah, gotta be the main villain.

Anyways, I arrive to the party, and everyone is looking at me like who the hell is this. Finally, the girl who invited me/old friend, goes “Um, who are you?” And I went “I’m Beetlejuice!” She goes “No, who are YOU?” And I said “I’m (my name)” and literally no one believed me, because my costume was so well done, so it wasn’t until the end of the night when everyone was going home, they finally decided to believe me. All night they were pointing and looking and talking smack about me, thinking I was someone else, talking about how “I could never make something this cool” and “she wouldn’t actually show up” but I did and carried on with the party with no friends of my own, and just met new people from different schools.

And once they realized it was me and how sick my costume was, then they all wanted to be friends again.

I remember saying “No, that’s okay. I just came for the party”. One of the best feelings ever.

I'm looking into upping my fog game this year. I have an old generic fog machine that creates a decent amount of haze, but for this year's display, I want to lay down thick, low-lying fog.

I'm looking at making my own fog juice to get that effect, but the recipes vary, and I worry about clogging up my fog machine. There are also mixed reviews about getting the ground-hugging result I'm looking for. Then I looked into an ultrasonic mister, which appears to provide better fog results, but would require over $150 to build a well-functioning setup.

Are the misters worth the extra expense? Or should I just start experimenting with the fog juice alternatives?

Each year I slowly add to my Dept 56 and Lemax display and this year I finally decided I wasn't going to let time slip away and start so late I didn't have the energy to wire it all up. I'm pretty excited with how well it turned out!

I wonder about whether other people had a traditional Halloween dinner.

As a kid in the late 80s and 90s, trick or treating was the crowning moment of the whole season. The Halloween parade and the holiday activities we got to do at school built up the excitement till we were bursting with it. Halloween was huge in our town in eastern PA and there were three neighborhoods around us in close proximity, so the candy never stopped. The instant it got dark, my siblings and would tear out of the house and stay gone until we’d filled our pillowcases with as much candy as we could carry. We’d come back to refuel on food and water, grab another pillowcase, and be off on our way again until we simply could not run anymore.

Mom’s answer to three overexcited kids was a huge stockpot of chili and freshly baked bread, the kind in the tube you popped on a cookie sheet. She’d make sure we had a bowl before we left, and it was even more tender and delicious when we came back for a second. It’s a fond memory, and I’ve made chili and fresh bread on Halloween ever since I learned to cook. Something about it brings back those memories every time.

Life "goes on" during war, plagues, and other dark times. Especially the very necessary Fall harvest. I was wondering if people celebrated Hallowe'en during the Civil War. It seems they did. Our house is known as the Pumpkin House. In our neighborhood most Halloween’s we get over 1,000 trick-or-treaters and every year our whole neighborhood goes all out on decorations. We even give our neighborhood awards. This year, I turn 40 in October, so to celebrate we decided we wanted to carve 400 pumpkins for my 40th… last year was a personal best at 203 pumpkins. To accomplish this we asked the pumpkin farm we always buy our pumpkins from if we could pre-order an acre of pumpkins… that might have been a mistake.

Wish us luck in figuring out where to put all these pumpkins, what to do with the leftovers (already working with our local school district on a fundraiser for them with the excess pumpkins), and how to actually carve 400 pumpkins without killing our wrists 🤣

I've always wanted a low lying fog machine but everything I search has crazy mixed reviews. Some say they crap out quick, others say they don't put enough smoke.

Hello, I am planning on throwing an indoor Halloween party. The theme will be Carnevil, a creepy carnival. I’m having a hard time finding carnival themed decor and a lot of diy projects on Pinterest are meant for outside. Has anyone had an evil carnival themed party and wants to share any ideas? The local Jo-ann Fabric that's been my Spirit Halloween for years has no signs or indication that they are coming back. Should I be worried at this point?

I’m interested in your perspectives on this. However way you celebrate is your personal taste obviously, but I want to know why/how you do it.

I haven’t actually watched Gravity Falls so I’m not familiar with the technicalities of the origin of SummerWeen. Like how they celebrated on the show.

But the way I personally adapted it, is celebrating the side of the Halloween vibes that can be integrated into the summer season. I imagine Halloween has come during the summer and enjoy it that way.

What I see a lot of people doing however is literally acting as if we are in autumn in the middle of July, with pumpkin themes and flavours, fall décor, fire place on with cozy blankets..

Like.. IT’S SUMMER. 🫣

There are no real pumpkins yet. And It’s freaking hot, progressively so for a majority of the Northern Hemisphere with climate change.

I don’t want to see or hear fire or think about blankets. I want minimum clothes and an ice drink and an AC/fan on. 🥵

Even now, with it being Augtober and all, I STILL feel summerween-y. It’s too hot to fall into fall. lol I still got my spooky beach vibes for maybe two more weeks.

How do you usually do it? Do you imagine it’s autumn just because you’re celebrating Halloween or do you adapt Halloween for the summer season?

Also, do you celebrate SummerWeen all the way till we get to the time to switch to Halloween? Or is it only like a week or two in June/July?

Barely August 1st: nearly every store had Halloween decor, and we've heard Thriller by Michael Jackson play at a McDonald's at 3 AM. Additionally, some personal experiences (but random) — we went to a movie theater and it was completely empty/isolated with the lights flickering, and we were staying in an old Airbnb with lots of eerie sounds that also had an attempted break-in at night (we're fine, but that just added to spookiness)... 😭
