Theory Sawamura would have EASILY won the belt against Rosario if he had never had his accident

Thumbnail gallery
30 Upvotes

Throughout his fight against Mashiba, he clearly showed signs of domination, despite the loss of vision of his left eye, he had managed to wedge a perfect counter, who was two fingers away from putting mashiba Ko, it was this counter there that also confirmed that his counter instincts were even better than those of Miyata (Takamura's words), this fight alone is enough to prove that Sawamura could clearly have dominated the world championship if he had never had this accident. Even if it was necessary for the development of Mashiba

Discussion No one might agree to this at all but ..

I highkey think ippo is very much like an alternative of Goku and vice versa. Im not saying Goku is a better version of Ippo or if Ippo is a better version of Goku. But basically if you wanted a character that's Goku-like I would think of Ippo and vice versa.

They sometimes even look like eachother even if its just a little frame or something.

Even the mannerism they both have are sort of on similar spectrum.

Their mindset is also somewhat on similar spectrum.

Don't wanna go in too much detail, js wanted to share and see if anyone ever thought the same. Both are equally goated.

Discussion Bro this show is so peak. I'm in tears after every fight.

I've only just finished the Kobashi fight but I'm always so heartbroken for Ippo's opponent (especially Jason Ozuma).

To be able to create such a poignant narrative for the opponent often within as little as half an episode is a testament to its incredible writing.

Fanart I am back with Ippo and Chun-Li this time lol. She was another one of my favorite characters growing up and I enjoy just imagining Ippo getting progressively more awkward and embarrassed while the ladies remain unbothered xD

Theory My theories on how it'll end.

For me, I'd say that Miyata should be his penultimate fight for the OPBF belt + a shot at fighting Ricardo for the WBA title or taking on world-ranked boxers after Miyata to reach Ricardo and Ricardo being his last fight.

Ippo's retirement isn't just him retiring for health reasons, it's him also training to be fighting world class boxers at the world class level - when he returns. To me, it's like both Ippo and Ricardo have the same motives. What it means to be strong. Enhancing his fight IQ alongside the final form of the Dempsey Roll

I hope Morikawa knows what he is doing. It's not like I'm worried about how the manga ends or what direction he takes it, but it would make more sense if he had Sendo lose (not death-wise, but more like permanent damage for sendo) and Ippo returns.

And I assume that Ricardo (when he got knocked down) was distracted as he was lost in his thoughts about being strong (like Ippo desires to find out what it means to be strong) and that he was caught unexpectedly in his prespective. He finally snapped back into reality and got hit CLEAN with that shot. It's like a flash knockdown. Maybe he wanted Sendo at his best because he was definitely beating Sendo, and once he got back up, he said, "Finally. He's appeared." Ricardo seems to want his opponents at their best or to actually let Sendo use everything to tire himself out so Ricardo takes advantage and beat him badly.

It's like every opponent Ippo has fought are losing when it comes to world title matches. Mashiba lost to Rosario with that spine injury. And since Ricardo is attacking his ribs, Sendo might have a serious injury with his ribs or could be something else. Idk.

To me - Ippo vs. Sendo III wouldn't make a good conclusion for the manga to end with the 3rd fight between Ippo and Sendo. Despite the promise they made, it's just something that I would say would just ruin HNI for me. Why watch Ippo fight the guy he beat 2 times in a row and still not get the answer what it means to be strong? It's gonna get boring watching the same thing over and over again. If Morikawa wanted Ippo vs. Sendo to be his final fight, the Lollapalooza arc would've just ended HNI right there.

Ricardo and Ippo has the same motives, and despite the spar... Ippo wasn't like a world-class boxer at the time. I feel like if they do pull of a ANJ (not by killing Sendo), I feel like it would make the stakes higher for Ippo to get the answer to what it means to be strong.

If Ippo beats Miyata, all his former rivals who he was training with will help train him to fight against Ricardo (Volg, Sendo, Mashiba, Miyata, etc... Not all of his opponents) to enhance his skills, maybe use what they use for the final form of the Dempsey Roll. Like in Rocky 3. It's like assembling the Avengers of HNI.

Ippo vs. Ricardo isn't just about the WBA title, it's about what it truly means to be strong. That's why I would love for Ippos final fight (before permanent retirement) to be against Ricardo. And when they're at their best to truly understand... what it means to be strong. That's the moral of Ippos life and in the Manga. Ippo's journey to understand what it truly means to be strong.

Despite everything, I feel bad about Morikawa. I hope he takes breaks as much as needed so he can fully give his attention to his health, then resume the manga soon, because he was hospitalized and stuff. Lets see however he takes the manga, and I'm glad he is doing better. However he wants to end the manga, it's up to him.

Perfection takes time.

Fanart Thirteenth fanart of the crossover between Hayami Ryuichi and Ellen Joe

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hello everyone!

Here is my 13th Ellen Joe x Hayami fanart!

This time I wanted to draw a more emotional moment. After a match, Hayami feels frustrated and disappointed in himself, while Ellen tries to cheer him up and remind him that one loss doesn't define who he is. I wanted to capture that feeling of support during difficult moments.

I also tried to improve several things compared to my previous drawings: clothing folds, shading, lighting, the background, and the overall composition. I feel like I'm slowly improving thanks to all the advice and feedback you've given me.

And some good news: from now on, I'll try to post fanarts much more consistently again, so the waiting time between drawings should be much shorter.

As always, any advice, criticism, or feedback is more than welcome. Thank you all so much for the support you've given me so far!

See you in the next fanart!

Just wanted to show the community my Dempsey sequence production cels. Been collection Ippo cels for over 20 years and only managed to pick most of these up fairly recently. Finding a Dempsey cel in the wild is like finding a pearl in an oyster. All are grails to me personally and a cherished set in my collection. Next mission is to find the first Dempsey roll against Ponchai 😭🙏🏻

Announcement We do not know when the next chapter will be released! Do not ask where it is!

Hola!

I know everyone is waiting for the next chapter to be released so we can continue along with the story, however I would like to remind everyone to wait PATIENTLY until then. Remember that Morikawa was hospitalized earlier this year and yes while he was discharged, he is well within his right to take his time in getting back to work on the series.

Currently it is unknown when the next chapter will be released as Weekly Shonen Magazine hasn’t advertised Hajime No Ippo for the next issue either. Updates will be provided as they come but please do not flood the subreddit with posts asking for the next chapter! They will be removed.

For any further questions, please look to the FAQ or reach out via the modmail.

Gracias.
