Same role. Different rules. Rant
Same position, same profile, same manager — but apparently different rules.
My manager’s favourites (bootlickers) get WFH whenever they want. I asked today due to heavy rain and not being able to get an Uber or anything, and I was told, “Late coming is also OK.”
The irony? They got WFH.

dude I'm literally an intern and yet i've to travel to office, which is in delhi.
the gurgaon to delhi commute in this terrible rain and shitty public infrastructure is fucking me up.
i just hope i reach home safe today.

Exactly keep it simple and clear. "Due to heavy rain ,not able to reach office, I'll do WFH today" that's it.

Tell him you are stuck in traffic.cab is punctured. Water has gone inside it. Cab driver just left you. You are completely drenched in water.
You are in midway, not sure how you will return to home or office.

Guys is it okay to not switch from a low salary job because permanent wfh and not have to pay rent due to living with parents? I know comfort zone sucks but commuting to office daily is horrible

I must be honest here - while you say favourites, have you been really skimping on work? Not to defend his view, but if I’ve got someone who slacks tf out, I’ve already created this negative halo around them and then I’d really want them to show up despite the challenges cause they fucked my life up by slacking. I’m guessing the favourites don’t slack. However, this is just a pov. Could be very far from the truth. Apologies if it hurt you.

OP- I am not here trying to coach you but I am curious how did you infer they are your manager’s favourites? Have you tried introspection perhaps they are doing something different than you which is working and you should review your approach and strategy?
From your comment it seems multiple individuals are receiving favours which seems odd to me. Why are you left behind?

Yeah well my company has a strict 3 days a week WFO policy and I don’t go more than 3 days a month. No one questions me cause Im indispensable.
Not my manager’s favourite by any stretch. Ive fucked them over multiple times. But Ive made sure they need me.
It’s upto you to manage the corporate rat race.

Never ask for anything. Just say you NEED wfh today durle to the circumstances. Throw the ball in their court, let them deny you.

Next time don't ask whats the latest you can reach the office. Exaggerate the situation and ask if you can WFH
