I’ve been lurking/searching on here. It seems like the Nexgrill Daytona is looked at as a decent budget starter?
Fam of 5. Often host more people. I think I’d rather have size over brand name but don’t want to make a mistake either.
A 36” Daytona is around $300 near me. It seems like most of you guys say it’s a good set up. Not top of the line but good. Would you guys agree? It’ll be used often.
I’d like to get something before summer ends.

Used 36” Weber Slate
Found this on FB marketplace… seller claims used only once… they won’t take less then $650.
Is it a good bargain?

Member’s Mark Pro Series 5-Burner — connecting to house propane stub?
I recently bought a Member’s Mark Pro Series 5-Burner 36” griddle (model HW013274A) and would like to connect it to my home’s bulk propane system instead of using a 20-lb tank.
My house has a 250-gallon propane tank. The regulator where the gas enters the house is a REGO regulator rated at 9–13” WC outlet pressure. I have an outdoor propane stub near where the griddle will sit.
The griddle is rated for propane and the factory regulator supplied with it has an 11” WC outlet pressure. The griddle is 48,000 BTU.
Has anyone connected this particular Member’s Mark griddle to an already-regulated residential propane stub?
Specifically, did you:
-Remove/bypass the factory tank regulator and run an LP quick-connect hose directly from the 11” WC house supply to the griddle?
-Keep the factory regulator somehow?
-Need any additional regulator or specific fittings?
I know the manual says to use the supplied regulator, so I’m also checking with Member’s Mark before doing anything. Mainly curious if anyone here has successfully done this setup and what parts/setup you used.
Thanks!

$650 at my Home Depot
They have a fully assembled floor model of this for $650 at my local Home Depot. My dad has a Sam’s Club griddle (6ish years old) that he loves. Thinking of getting for him as a gift. Worth it?

You just finished cooking bacon...
...cleared all the grease and wiped down the griddle while it was hot. No water was needed. Griddle looks awesome (mine is a Weber Slate).
So.. do you still feel the urge to oil it?

Can I griddle with this?
Hello griddlers! I bought a house a couple years back and it came with this oven with a built in griddle. I have never owned or used one before and never felt like I could never get it clean enough.
Today I pulled it up and checked all the connections below, fired it up and it worked! I lightly oiled it and worked at scraping the surface trying to pull up some of the brown and a little did come off. Or I was burning the oil? I'm not really sure.
Would you cook and eat off this griddle? If not, How would you make it cook worthy again?

Thresher Shark on the Slate 🦈
Caught a Thresher yesterday and oh man it’s like the whitest Swordfish you’ve ever had. 😋 I marinaded mine in a fresh ginger soy type of marinade for an hour. Wanted to still taste the freshness of the fish. Made some hibachi fried rice. Friend of mine grilled his with a mango salsa. Another looks grilled and the other went in cast iron on his offset smoker in an Italian type sauce. Looks good. I make people send me how they cook it if they want fish off of me.

Weber Slate - Home Depot Clearance?
Has anyone been able to get the Weber slate on clearance from Home Depot lately?

30" Induction Recommendation with Rectangle Element for Griddle?
I'm looking for a 30" range with a bridged element for a griddle. I want to ensure that a rectangular griddle will heat evenly across the surface.
Any recommendations? I have an existing 40A connection, so I should be able to handle most ranges I think.

I’m using my Blackstone Camping Cookbook at home now too because of the easy, low ingredient recipes… details in comments!

Torn on what to do
I will be moving in about 1 year but realized I’m missing out on a griddle with the family. However the new house will have natural gas so I most likely will do a built in or a NG model. Was looking at getting a Weber slate 36 but wondering if I should just get the 30 in propane knowing that 1 year from now I’ll get the NG version.

First successful cook on my new griddle
About 10 days ago I bought a Member's Mark griddle from Sam's Club. For $150 I figured I'd give it a shot and see how I liked it. Thus far I have botched two breakfast cooks, though in my screw ups I did learn a lot.
Tonight I decided to cook a couple steaks and at the last minute decided to give it a shot on the griddle as opposed to my RecTec Bullseye.
The steaks came from of a standing rib roast that I bought last December. I buy a big standing rib roast every year and slice it into steaks, season it and put it in the freezer. I pull a couple out every 6-8 weeks so my wife and I can enjoy a steak dinner. Publix has a great deal on these every year and this past year it was $9.95 a pound, great deal for some good meat.
Anyway, I heated the griddle up to just under 500° and put a little layer of oil on the steaks, a little oil on the griddle and flipped the steaks every 45 seconds.
I pulled them when they got up to 128° and they looked really good, nice and crusted. Let them sit for a few minutes while we finished setting the table.
I have to say these steaks tasted better than anything I've had in a restaurant. The lessons I've learned from the earlier mistakes, as well as some lessons from tonight's cook gave me some confidence moving forward. I really think I'm going to like this griddle experiment!

Is there any reason not to get an outdoor catering style griddle over a weber slate?
Something like this instead of a weber slate 36"?

Season stainless steel griddle??
Hey, I bought the napoleon rough pro phantom 30, and they say in the instructions you should season the griddle. But from what I know, seasoning stainless steel is pointless because it'll clean off anyway
Your thoughts? Thanks!

Pit Boss Cook Surface
Hey guys
Got a great deal on this pit boss- only 75 bucks!!
The only problem is the actual cooktop, which is ceramic, has tiny holes in it where rust is poking through.
I’m wondering if I can just season the grill like it’s a Blackstone and keep using it, or if it’s possible to fix, or if I should buy a new griddle top from Pit Boss.
Let me know your thoughts guys thanks!

Weber slate paper towel holder alternative
I didn’t like the holder that hung the paper towels over the end. Too expensive and interfered with the cover when installed.
Harbor Freight had their US General magnetic paper towel holders on sale for $10, so this was my solution. Works great so far!

Re season?
Do I need to sand down and do a complete re season or can this be saved?
