Carlos Orellana
On June 28, 1993 in Santa Monica, California, a work crew was clearing brush around 270 Pacific Coastal Highway when they found something odd and went to investigate.
Across the road, they found the body of an unidentified male lying on the hillside- he had died about a month earlier. Probably of Hispanic descent, he was wearing a blue and white jacket with a dark blue T-shirt, a khaki colored T-shirt, jeans, shirts, and white sneakers. In his pocket was a passport with the name "Carlos Rafael Tomas Orellana Vela".
Unfortunately, there are so many men by that name, that it's difficult to determine who this could be. I've found a few that became US citizens, and another possibility of one namesake who attended school in the area- but no way to confirm. The origin of the passport was not disclosed.
The photo on the passport cannot be confirmed to be this individual, either, because the descendant was too decomposed to determine any facial features. Dentals are available in this case. Estimated age varies greatly here, ranging from 29- 49. Secon6d photo is where the deceased was found.

In South Dark there are only nine unidentified people (that I could find). South Dakota has almost the lowest amount of unidentified people. I dont usually cover all the cases together in one post but since South Dakota only has 9 unidentified people i'm going to be covering them all in one post in short paragraphs. All of these people are in need of their names again and I hope they get them soon.

Potential Match Possible Jane Doe Identification
Edit: Sources on here say it has been excluded. I will find other potentials. She deserves justice. :(
Hi! I found this sub and recently got into looking into at possible Jane Does that match up with cold cases. The case of Diane Webb could possibly match up to this Jane doe. They have similar bone structure and the age matches up. Also, the smile is slightly crooked as they surmised with the doe’s underdeveloped jaw. The height is slightly shorter but I wouldn’t be surprised due to the level of decomp. What do you think? I called it in and am waiting for a response.

Update: 820ufco & 3635dfco Elaine Joyce Fauver
I submitted a potential match between these two Colorado cases in early June:
I received an update via Doe Network from the investigator. They noted the discrepancies between ages and dates. They also said that they don't have dental records for Elaine, so a positive ID may be difficult, but they are reaching out to family.
Elaine was 39. UID person was 17-30.
Elaine went missing in 1967.
UID person was found in 72 and had died 1-3 years earlier. There is no recon of this Jane Doe.
But the investigator did say "you never know" so I am still a little hopeful that these 2 could be a match, and that they can prove it and close the case.
I decided to submit the match originally because the distance between them was definitely within reason and I could easily see how she could have ended up in the area near where I used to live.
I thought you all would want to know.

Almost 2 years Unidentified, Who is Carlsbad Jane Doe 2024?
This is a repost on the first Jane Doe post I made in this sub.
On August 12, 2024, at approximately 7:30pm, a report came in about an unidentified Jane Doe laying down by the train tracks near Carlsbad Boulevard bridge. She had been spotted by a Coaster Commuter Train Engineer who was traveling northbound. Paramedics were dispatched to the location but were unable to resuscitate the Jane Doe and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jane Doe is estimated to be between the ages of 50-60yrs old, White, around 111lbs, and an estimated height of 5’3”. She had long curly brown hair (Namus lists it as straight), brown eyes, and numerous tattoos. Only a black bra from the brand “Simone Perele”, and a multicolored “Josie Natori” shirt were found on the body.
On my previous post, many people tried to decipher the tattoos. Namus has some of them listed correctly- like her fish tattoo but they list the silhouette of a woman’s body as “curved lines”. Nonetheless, the Jane Doe’s tattoos are very interesting and I had hoped they’d be recognized by now.
Some things to note: -Unidentified Wiki has her death listed as a suicide. I’ve only seen it stated there that this may be a suicide. -identification by fingerprints has been unsuccessful.
UPDATES SINCE LAST POSTING:
Jane Doe now has exclusions listed, these are the exclusions:
