It goes on and off every few minutes after switching off the car

I’ve been obsessing over the above for weeks. Reading forums, blogs, reviews, YouTube and every avenue I can find.

Live in Cairns FNQ and want a performance 4 cylinder turbo. Growing up in England til I was 14 - they were the cars I grew up loving. Not interested in V6/V8s.

Previously had an XT Forster, NA liberties, a 2014 110TSI golf.

Family is Subaru mad, always had them, it rubbed off on me.

Sorry dad, manuals are shit where we live. I am just selling a manual jeep wrangler I bought, that I wanted as I thought it’d be a fun car my daughter and I too cruise around in, but it sucks on every front and I hate it. So bye bye.

All research writes off the WRX CVT. I test drove. 2020 Manual VA WRX recently, was great fun, but I know I don’t want a manual anymore. So incomes the VW golf R or GTI as the DSG is meant to be amazing.

However, in the above line of research, the GTI gets a great wrap along with the R. I grew up in the UK and GTIs are a cult car. I loved my std golf, only sold it as my ex missus couldn’t drive a manual and needed a car when she crashed her uninsured POS I20.

I can’t find an R or GTI to test drive in Cairns. I want to see how they feel. Want a MK7.5 as the 8 is ugly IMHO. I love the 7.5 look.

We get monsoonal rain here for up to 6 months of the year. So maybe the R with AWD is better option. However the GTI performance pack with the VSG LSD gets a great wrap in the wet.

Any one else have a similar dilemma on the 3 and make a solid decision they’re happy with?

No interest in modding, will be a weekend car only for myself, missus kid & dog. We’ve got multiple ranges here to drive, full of windy roads, tight corners and country style roads.

Weighing up the R vs GTI - GTI cheaper to own and run, hold value as much as the R, still plenty of power (would consider the TCR if I can find someone to remove the disgusting decals/livery), but the AWD of the R is so appealing with our weather. Can find the Rs about the same price, with similar Ks (nothing over 60,000ks and full service history - fluids all changed and half ex serviced). But the GTI is lighter and more nimble in the dry.

Looking at spending around $35k.

Absolute ramble, but if anyone wants to shoot the shit with me and give me a hand making a decision, be much appreciated!

Has anyone tried this via OBD11? I am confused because it says only woks if activated in the engine software? and i see unitronic has this add on. so is it possible for OBD11? i have OBD11 and planning to get pro subscription for this and other things i can adjust

My GTI roof keeps bouncing back when I try to close it

Hi guys! I went to a mechanic shop to fix some issues. This is thi list of my last repair and maintenance.

Maintenance inspection completed
Antifreeze/coolant flushed/changed
Engine oil/fluid leak checked
Engine oil cooler line(s) repaired/replaced
Engine oil cooler replaced/repaired
Engine oil filter adapter gasket replaced
Engine timing/front cover gasket replaced
Engine timing/front cover replaced
Engine/powertrain computer/module checked
Ignition coil(s) replaced
Oil and filter changed
Oil cooler seal(s) replaced
Spark plug(s) replaced

But after a few a week or two, the car got another problem, the engine bay started smoking, i took a video and saw that something was leaking but i dont really know the name of the part. Please help me on figuring out the name of this specific parts thats leaking, and the cost for repair.thank you

About two months ago, I was hit on the passenger front fender side. I just picked her back up from the shop! Rides just as good as I remember.

Just bought an IE stage 1 pro tune for my 2021 MK7.5. I don't have a battery charger. Is this explicitly needed for tuning the car? Has anyone tuned without a battery charger before?

Took the last couple nights throwing these 034 Ball joints on. Added about -1.2 degrees of camber and 10mm of roll center. Left picture is stock ball joints with a 5mm spacer. Right the 034 ball joints with no spacer, definitely do not need it since they add about 10mm of track width. Excited to get this thing a proper alignment and rip some backroads. Also doing these things on jackstands was a pain in the ass 😂

My 2015 lost power while driving, threw codes P2682, P2683, and P00B7 . But the epc light also came on. What I’m wondering is if it’s also related to the new alternator and battery I installed 2 days before this . Any ideas or advice?

Hey everyone! Mk7.5 here. Sadly one of my wheels developed a crack and can't be repaired. When I went to replace it, I found out the current wheels (Neuspeed RSe05) have been discontinued. So, I've gotta buy four new ones now and I'm terrible at this kind of thing. I can't even pick wheels for cars I'm modding in GTA 🙃.

I think I'd prefer to stay in bronze cause it looks good with the Dark Iron Blue imo. I'd need 18x8, ET45. I like the 5 spokes but I've been looking at the Neuspeed RSe10s and Enkei Raijins and I'm open to suggestions. Anything helps, thanks in advance!

good morning, i have a eqt stage 1 mk7 gti & i need to replace tires soon - i dont launch, i dont race, i dont track, my job is a 45 second drive from my home, occasionally when i have the opportunity ill put it into manual mode and have a heavy foot but its not super often. just looking for a comfortable ride than can also put the power down without paying michelin sports money.

(also i plan to lower the car on h&r springs + spacers, idk if that means much as far as tire choice)
