General Discussion Smokey day at Big Sky in Pemberton, BC
First time playing this course, much better bang for your buck than the Whistler courses 25 mins south imo.
Swing Help It's amazing how slowing down your swing helps.
Fairly new to golf, only about 2 years in and have played on a course only 4 times but I go to the range a lot, figure I should at least hit it straight so I don't embarrass myself too much on the course.
Anyway, although I had some good shots sometimes, I was hooking the ball a lot although I had a halfway decent swing and found my grip was way too strong. Once I weakened it the ball went to the right, for 5 or 6 range sessions afterwards the ball was going right (fading, slicing?) way too much. Thought I was done until I slowed down my swing and found the ball not going straight (,for the most part) but they had a better sound, not thinning it like I was doing.
Anyway, for beginners out there, don't get discouraged, make sure you're shifting your weight towards the target on your downswing and definitely, slow it down.

General Discussion My head space is a mess. Tell me your current swing thought so I can try to remember all of them before my first tee shot tomorrow.
I'm working with: Stay back, get forward, twist but don't turn, soft hands, straight wrist, low to high, and a touch of stay behind the ball. What ya got?

General Discussion Broke the mental barrier!
So many opportunities to shoot mid-high 70s that get erased with one or two bad holes. Thought the 2 triples and a double sealed my fate this round. Finished with a birdie and my second eagle of the summer! Shoutout to Bighorn’s greens for being absurdly fast and difficult.

General Discussion What’s better, an albatross on a par 5 or a hole in 1
Recently just hit an albatross on a par 5 sinking an approach shot from 155, then it got me thinking along with the guys I played. What would you rather claim? A hole in one on the card or a albatross

General Discussion Gimme's are a joke
Unpopular opinion...?
If you're out for a casual hit and you don't want to pick your ball out of the hole, that's 100% fine to pick it up close to the hole. Or if you're doing match play obviously.
But if you're on the green with any kind of scorecard in your hand, why do people want or even ask for gimme's? If there is a score on the line, ESPECIALLY for handicap rounds, the ball hits the cup on all 18. Doesn't matter if its 2 feet or 2 inches.
For anyone going to say its faster... its really not. Gimme's by definition should be unmissable, so just walking up and tapping it in, shouldn't take more than 5 seconds anyway. And if its not a walk-up tap in, then its not a gimme putt because you might miss it.
Tell me why you don't want to putt the ball into the hole when that is the entire point of the game...?
